Full text availableTeaching is very stressful, and nursing instructors work in a highly demanding environment (Demjaha et al., 2015). This study aimed to determine the relationship between work-related stress level and teaching performance among clinical instructors in a private university college of nursing in Iloilo City, Philippines, during the second semester of academic year 2022-2023. This descriptive-correlational study utilized a researcher-developed questionnaire for the work-related stress level and an adapted questionnaire for teacher’s rating scale questions to determine the clinical instructor's perceived teaching performance of the private university. A pilot study was done and data were subjected to Cronbach’s alpha for its reliability and validity which scored 0.735 and 0.865 respectively. The study covered 69 clinical instructors out of 110 following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collected were analyzed with the use of descriptive analysis and Spearman rho test. The results revealed a strong negative correlation (-0.587) between work-related stress and teaching performance, indicating that higher stress levels corresponded with lower performance. Finally, the low p-value (0.000) confirmed a significant relationship between stress levels and teaching performance which rejected the hypothesis of the study.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin

Abstract onlyThe transition to motherhood is often accompanied by significant stressors, necessitating adaptation and coping mechanisms. Understanding the relationship between maternal stressors and the coping strategies of postpartum mothers is essential for identifying specific coping styles to support new mothers during this critical period. Studies on coping strategies and maternal stressors of postpartum mothers continue to be relevant in maternal and child health because motherhood is an incessant event in life. Given the gaps in the current literature on postpartum mothers’ extent of use of coping strategies and level of maternal stress, as well as the scarcity of research in the Philippine setting, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between the extent of use of coping strategies and the level of maternal stress among postpartum mothers in a selected birthing center in Iloilo City. A survey was conducted on 59 participants selected through purposive sampling, using an adapted questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential analyses were performed. The results showed that coping strategies had a major influence on the maternal stress experienced by postpartum mothers. Problem-focused coping (40.7%), emotion-focused coping (37.3%), and avoidant-focused coping (35.6%) were the coping mechanisms that were employed. It revealed that 39.0% of postpartum mothers have a maternal stress of 34 or below. According to the data, 39.0% of new mothers had a maternal stress score of 34 or below. Furthermore, there was a direct or significant correlation between the degree of maternal stress and avoidant coping, inverse or indirect relationships with emotion-focused coping, and no relevance with problem-focused coping alone. This study highlighted the prevalence of each coping strategy to maternal stress. However, further research with larger samples is needed to explore other aspects of the different coping strategies and their potential effects on maternal stress.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin

Pangakong napako: The stories of individuals who experienced infidelity in relationships

    Get PDF
Abstract onlyInfidelity is a complex and sensitive issue with profound effects on individuals and relationships. Researchers focused on women's experiences of infidelity in past relationships, noting that such betrayal can lead to feelings of dissatisfaction, low self esteem, and personality changes. Women, being more emotionally invested, are deeply affected by infidelity. Charismatic Persona (2024) describes it as one of the most profound betrayals a woman can experience, leaving a lasting impact on her heart, mind, and self esteem. This study delved into the narratives of four individuals who have experienced infidelity found using the purposive sampling method. A semi-structured interview was used in gathering data from the participants. The researchers also used Murray's Narrative Analysis (2018) to identify five main narrative themes with their respective subthemes: Romance Consummate (Priorities and Compromise & Allusions), Emotional Abuse (Emotional Abuse & Pain of Lost Trust), Introspection (Self-doubt to Self-thought), Extrospection (Familial Influence & Friendship Influence), and Triumph (Journey to Healing). Often, individuals overlook signs of infidelity due to deep emotions, leading to a mix of tragedy and romance in their narratives. Infidelity triggers intense emotions like pain, anger, and insecurity, prompting reflection on their partner’s background to rationalize their behaviours. Over time, with support, women find resilience, undergo personal growth, and learn valuable life lessons from their experiences, transforming challenges into opportunities for positive change. The findings suggest that personal experiences shape beliefs, values, and perspectives, showcasing the strength and resilience of the human spirit.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Psycholog

    Get PDF
Abstract onlyMycoplasma gallisepticum is the most significant avian Mycoplasma species and is responsible for substantial financial losses. Antibiotics are widely used to prevent or control such infections, but if these practices are continued, bacteria may develop resistance. It has been identified that an antibiotic produced from natural source is equally efficient in battling these diseases that has been discovered. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the efficacy vacuum freeze-dried garlic (Allium sativum) against Mycoplasma gallisepticum- infected native chicken in terms of the development of antibodies and enhancement of blood samples for hematology before and after two weeks of post-exposure. The collected data was analyzed using the ELISA microplate reader and hematology analyzer. The result from the study indicated that it did not affect the presence of the antibodies of native chickens while the blood parameters of hematology greatly enhanced the availability white blood cell, lymphocyte, red blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration. The data recorded increases within the reference ranges after treated with vacuum freeze-dried garlic. Hence, the use of vacuum freeze-dried garlic on Mycoplasma gallisepticum- infected native chickens significantly affects the blood parameters for hematology only.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Agricultur
