Proposed two-storey motor pool building in Passi City, Iloilo
Abstract onlyThe local government's pivotal role in promoting community development and infrastructure improvement has been key to Passi City's success. Through strategic initiatives and collaborative efforts, the municipality has effectively bridged gaps between various community groups and sectors, promoting inclusive growth and socioeconomic progress. Despite advancements in various areas, the city lacks a motor pool building necessary for efficient equipment management. To address this, a proposed design for a two storey motor pool building in Passi City, Iloilo would address this need. The 630 sq.m. structure includes a conference room, offices, a storage room, and a maintenance area. The project includes architectural, structural, plumbing, and electrical plans, cost estimates and project scheduling. The building will be constructed using reinforced concrete, designed in accordance the 2015 National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP). Green building technologies, such as a daylighting system, energy-saving fixtures, and a sustainable roofing system, have been integrated into the design for efficiency and sustainability. The estimated cost of the project is Php 17,456,320.91 with a projected duration of 294 days. Funding will come from Department of Public Works and Highways. The study further recommends adopting green construction practices to ensure environmental sustainability.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Civil Engineerin
Perceived knowledge and utilization of telemedicine among student nurses at a Private University
Abstract onlyThe integration of telemedicine into healthcare systems has revolutionized medical services, particularly in the context of global health crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. However, understanding the perceptions and utilization patterns among healthcare professionals, particularly student nurses, remains essential for optimizing telemedicine's efficacy. This study aimed to explore the perceived knowledge and utilization of telemedicine among student nurses at a private university setting. The research employed a descriptive-correlational design, utilizing questionnaires to gather data from 172 fourth-year nursing students. Demographic characteristics, perceived knowledge, and telemedicine utilization were assessed, and statistical analyses, including frequency distributions, percentages, weighted mean, and gamma coefficient, were performed using SPSS software. Findings reveal a clear understanding of telemedicine's concept among respondents, with notable challenges in utilization, particularly among those experiencing technical difficulties or requiring assistance. Demographic factors such as age, sex, and income exhibited weak associations with telemedicine utilization, while place of residence showed a moderate association, emphasizing the role of geographic accessibility. Furthermore, although higher knowledge levels slightly correlated with increased telemedicine utilization, the relationship was not statistically significant, suggesting the need for multifaceted strategies to enhance adoption. These findings underscored the importance of ongoing user support, technical optimization, and targeted outreach efforts to ensure equitable access and maximize telemedicine's benefits in healthcare delivery. Further research is warranted to comprehensively explore the complex factors influencing telemedicine utilization among diverse populations.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin
Powdered oyster shells (Ostreidae) and egg shells mixed with varnish as fire-retardant on plywood
Abstract onlyThis paper investigates the effect of powdered oyster shells (ostreidae) and egg shells mixed with varnish as fire retardant on plywood. The data supports and validate that powdered oyster shells (ostreidae) and egg shells are comprised of 95- 98% calcium carbonate which suppress, reduce, or delay the combustion of the material to a significant degree. The three treatments were prepared (A- 5 grams of powdered oyster shells (ostreidae) and 5 grams of egg shells + 150 ml varnish, B- 10 grams of powdered oyster shells (ostreidae) and 10 grams of egg shells + 150 ml varnish, and C-15 grams of powdered oyster shells (ostreidae) and 15 grams of egg shells + 150 ml varnish), D - commercial fire retardant varnish as positive control, E - pure classic varnish as negative control and F - plain plywood with 18 replicates including the control variables. The 18 replicates were tested using blowtorch with the fixed time of 30 seconds in treatment A, B, E and F while 60 seconds in treatment C and D in the burning of plywood. Based on the fire-resistant rate among 6 treatments, the shortest time the fire stop is considered the most effective. There is a significant difference in the fire-resistant rate among different treatments, p=0.001. All treatments were effective, but treatment B and C was the most effective. The results revealed that using large amount of powdered oyster shells (ostreidae) and egg shells resulted to a higher probability to prevent spreading of fire. Also, it slows down the tracking of fire due to calcium carbonate content.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Environmental Managemen
Perceived effectiveness and satisfaction of simulated return demonstration on head-to-toe assessment among student nurses in a selected Private University
Full text availableThis study, aimed to determine the perceived effectiveness and satisfaction of simulated return demonstration on head-to-toe assessment among student nurses in a selected private university, utilized a descriptive-correlational research design. The respondents in the study were 169 level 4 nursing students in a selected private university who were distributed survey questionnaires gathering their perceived effectiveness and satisfaction of simulated return demonstration on Head-to-Toe Assessment. Descriptive and Statistical analyses, including Phi and Cramer's V, were employed to explore relationships between variables. Findings show generally high perceived effectiveness of simulated return demonstration, with participants expressing substantial satisfaction. Weak associations were observed between demographic variables and effectiveness and satisfaction, but were not statistically significant. However, a significant positive relationship was found between perceived effectiveness and satisfaction. While demographic variables showed no significant relationships with perceived effectiveness and satisfaction, a significant relationship was found between perceived effectiveness and satisfaction with simulated return demonstration. These findings provide insights into the efficacy of online simulation in nursing education, emphasizing the importance of perceived effectiveness in enhancing student satisfaction.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin

Potentiality of guava leaves essential oil to control the Staphylococcus epidermidis
Abstract onlyStaphylococcus epidermidis is linked to bumblefoot, respiratory tract infections, eggshell contamination, and septicemia, resulting in substantial economic losses to the poultry industry. To subdue these adverse effects, A laboratory-based experimental study was conducted to determine the antimicrobial potential of guava leaves essential oil against Staphylococcus epidermidis. This study (1) determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (2) asses the zone of inhibition and (3) determine the potency of guava leaves essential oil. This study utilized A single-factor and two-factor fully randomized design (CRD). It involved 5 milliliter of Guava leaves essential oil, 30 petri plates,100pl S. epidermidis bacteria, 750pl tylosin, 500pl VCO , and 500pl of distilled water. The concentrations were laid out using a complete block design (CRD). The study succeed to demonstrate significant antimicrobial activity of guava leaves essential oil against Staphylococcus epidermidis. Inhibition zones were observed around the wells containing essential oil, indicating that the oil exert significant inhibitory effects on the growth of the bacteria. The findings of the study reveal that GEO has sufficient antibacterial efficacy against S. epidermidis. Thus, this study reveals that guava leaves essential oil possess significant antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis under the test conditions and concentrations employed.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Agricultur
