Lived experiences of level IV student nurses participating in apollo simulation
Full text availableAs a fundamental part of nursing education, high-fidelity simulation (HFS) gives students realistic, immersive experiences that help them strengthen their clinical skills and decision-making abilities. The advantages and limitations of Apollo HFS in preparing level IV nursing students for clinical practice are explored through this study, along with their experiences and flexibility in this simulated setting. Purposive sampling was used to select ten undergraduate student nurses who meet specific inclusion criteria, including experience with Apollo simulations and willingness to participate. The experiences and opinions of participants regarding HFS will be investigated through in-depth interviews using open-ended questions. Thematic analysis was used in data analysis to find trends and themes in the information gathered. Themes that were identified includes: 1. Effectiveness of Simulation; 2. Increase in Confidence; and, 3. Increase in Competence. The study reveals that Apollo simulation effectively prepares nursing students for clinical practice by providing realistic scenarios and opportunities for hands-on practice. Participants reported increased confidence and competence following repeated exposures to simulation-based learning. The theoretical framework of constructivism and the Carey and Rossler framework provide valuable insights into the epistemological foundations of HFS in nursing education.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin
Baseline study on waste recovery efficiency and mechanism of junkshops in the Municipality of Pavia
Abstract onlyThis study aimed to determine the efficiency and mechanism of junkshops in the Municipality of Pavia on recovering wastes. It specifically intended to 1) determine the Junkshops practices in terms of a) recovering recyclable materials; and b) type of recyclable materials they mostly buy; 2) find out the effectiveness of their waste recovery efforts; and 3) evaluate the environmental management and hazards encountered by junkshops in Pavia. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Data collection involved conducting face-to-face interviews with all of the junkshop owners using an interview guide. Data were descriptively analyzed using frequency and percentage distribution. The findings reveal that most junkshops operate from concrete structures, typically owned by operators, covering lot areas ranging from 1,001 to 2,000 square meters. Monthly incomes vary widely, from Php 6,000 to Php 80,000, with operational durations ranging from 3 to 18 years. The study highlights that most junkshops in the Municipality of Pavia are registered with the local government unit (LGU). Household suppliers play a significant role by providing various recyclable materials to junkshops. These materials include paper, plastic, glass, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and batteries. Junkshops primarily sell the recovered waste to larger scrap traders in Iloilo City, involving activities like sorting recyclable wastes. While the importance of environmental management practices such as segregation and proper arrangement of materials is emphasized, operational challenges concerning air quality and drainage persist.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Environmental Managemen
Environmental characteristics, study habits, and academic performance of student nurses in a Private University
Full text availableUnderstanding how environmental characteristics and study habits affect academic performance is crucial for improving learning conditions and student achievement. This study explored how these characteristics interact among student nurses at a private university. The population size comprised 235 second-year student nurses, from which a sample size of 150 was selected using a probability stratified random sampling method. Data were gathered using a 30-item questionnaire adapted from existing researchers and tailored by the researchers, distributed via Google Forms. Various aspects of the participants’ academic environment and study practices were assessed. Statistical analysis, including gamma values for association and p-values for significance, revealed several findings: While characteristics like noise, temperature, lighting, space or location, and internet connectivity showed some influence, their impact on academic performance seemed minor, as student nurses consistently achieved high grades regardless of these variables. Notably, air quality emerged as a subtle yet notable factor, suggesting its potential influence on academic outcomes. Additionally, the study found no significant link between study habits and academic performance, indicating a consistent approach to studying among student nurses. These results stress the importance of considering environmental characteristics in educational settings despite their modest impact. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the complex characteristics affecting the academic experiences of student nurses, with implications for educational policies and practices.Includes bibliographical referencesBachelor of Science in Nursin

The moderating roles of financing return and attention effects of digital economy index and green financing development among small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
Abstract onlyThis study aimed to explore the relationship between the digital economy index and the development of green financing among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in China, and to examine the moderating roles of financing, return, and attention effects on this relationship. Utilizing a quantitative research design and secondary research method, data was collected from various databases and reports, covering green SMEs listed on the GEM and NEEQ from 2018 to 2022. Data was processed and analyzed using SPSS and Stata software. Principal component analysis was employed to construct the digital economy index, while descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted to examine the relationship between the digital economy index and green financing development. Additionally, moderating effect models were established to assess the roles of financing, return, and attention effects. Despite a low overall level, the findings revealed consistent growth in the digital economy index and a positive trend in green financing development. The financing effect eased SME financing constraints, the return effect reduced financial asset return disparities, and the attention effect increased public and investor interest in green SMEs. Correlation and regression analyses revealed a significant positive relationship between the digital economy index and green financing development. Moderating effects showed that financing and return effects weakened, while the attention effect strengthened the relationship. The study concludes that digital economy advancements significantly promote green financing among SMEs. Although financing constraints and return disparities weakened this relationship, public and investor attention enhanced it. The moderating effects of financing constraints, return disparities, and investor attention must be considered in policy formulation.Includes bibliographical referencesDoctor of Management major in Business Managemen

A historical analysis of the Baptist principle of the local autonomy of the church
Full text availableThis dissertation examined the principle of local autonomy within the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches (CPBC). The historical development of this concept was explored, from its roots in the New Testament to its contemporary application within the CPBC. The American Baptist missionaries introduced the concept of local autonomy when they came to the Philippines. The CPBC adopted this principle, but its interpretation and application have caused various issues and challenges. The research aimed to define and interpret the principle of local autonomy within the CPBC, and address issues related to its application. To achieve this, the study employed a historical method in examining the development of local autonomy from the Reformation to the present context and analyzes the theological foundations and biblical basis for local church governance. It emphasized the importance of finding a balance between independence and collaboration within the CPBC. Findings showed that to achieve this balance, there is a need to maintain doctrinal unity based on core beliefs, establish clear guidelines for both autonomy and collaboration, learn from other Baptist denominations, incorporate Filipino cultural values, foster shared decision-making processes, and promote interdependence among member churches. The study concluded that local autonomy for CPBC is not about absolute independence, rather it is about empowering local churches while maintaining interconnectedness and collaboration. This approach, informed by key findings, fosters a thriving denomination that enriches the lives of the communities it serves.Includes bibliographical referencesDoctor of Ministr
Lived experiences of parents of children with developmental disabilities: Basis for a pastoral care training program
Full text availableThis study explored the lived experiences of parents of children with developmental disabilities as a basis for pastoral care. The participants of the study were 6 mothers and 4 fathers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome (DS), and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). They were asked about the challenges they have encountered raising and caring for a child with a developmental disability; how they cope with the situation of having to raise a child with a developmental disability; the strategies they used in coping with having children with disability; their insights and experiences and lessons they had learned, and shared with parents with the same situation; and the suggestions they gave for church pastors/ministers and churches to help families in handling and dealing with children having developmental disabilities. The findings were as follows: Parents commonly experienced grief, worry, and disbelief upon receiving their child’s diagnosis; pressures on handling a child's changing behavior; stress in juggling multiple responsibilities; no time for respite; and difficulty dealing with sibling conflicts were the challenges they had encountered in having a child with a developmental disability. The parents were able to cope because of the moral and social support from family, friends, and other parents of children with special needs; spiritual support; and acceptance of reality of the plight of their children; and they believed that pastoral care must be intentional; hence, this study proceeded on planning and creating a manual for Pastors because a Pastor is the spiritual leader of a faith community.Includes bibliographical referencesDoctor of Ministr
Malaysia Message and Southern Bell (1929-1953) as a religious and cultural transmission media: A content analysis
Abstract onlyThis study analyzes the Malaysia Message and Southern Bell publications from 1929-1953. It highlights the importance of the content of these publications. Through content analysis within a social constructionist framework, it revealed the religious and cultural content conveyed by these publications. Their religious content covers a wide range of topics, including church development, global Methodist events, ministry activities, inspirational material, pastoral doctrinal discussions, and religious education. Culturally, they offer narratives of local practices, literary expressions, educational initiatives, and moral debates. These publications profoundly influence the identity, values, and beliefs of their readers by shaping their understanding of faith communities, reinforcing faith values, and contributing to theological perspectives. The historical and socio-cultural value of these publications is evident, documenting the growth and contributions of the Malaysian Methodist Church while enriching religious discourse, education, and understanding of Christian values. While the Malaysia Message tracked the development of the Malayan Methodist Church, the Southern Bell offered unique insights into Chinese Methodist views that reflected movements within the Methodist community. Given the value of these publications, this study argues that theological libraries should preserve these two publications; their preservation in theological libraries reflects the narratives and perspectives that enrich the collective memory of the Methodist heritage. At the same time, it ensures access to primary sources, supports the dissemination of knowledge, and contributes to the enrichment of society within religious and scholarly circles.Includes bibliographical referencesMaster in Library and Information Sciences with Specialization in Theological Librarianshi
