KEMAMPUAN MENULIS SURAT LAMARAN PEKERJAAN MENGGUNAKAN MODEL THINK TALK WRITE KELAS XII SMK NEGERI 4 SIJUNJUNG SEMESTER II TAHUN PELAJARAN 2022/2023
The background of the problem in this study is that students still have difficulty writing job application letters in accordance with the structure and language rules and are not yet able to write effective sentences. This research uses a descriptive method. Ability to Write Job Application Letters Using the Think Talk Write Model Class XII SMK Negeri 4 Sijunjung Semester II Academic Year 2022/2023 Based on the Suitability of the Content of the Job Application Letter is in the Perfect qualification (S) with an average of 99. Ability to Write Job Application Letters Using the Think Model Talk Write Class XII SMK Negeri 4 Sijunjung Semester II Academic Year 2022/2023 Based on the systematics of the letter is in Very Good qualification (BS) with an average of 93. Ability to Write Job Application Letters Using the Think Talk Write Model Class XII SMK Negeri 4 Sijunjung Semester II The 2022/2023 school year, based on the language of the job application letter, is in a Good qualification (B) with an average of 80. Persepsi Siswa Kelas III UPTD SD Negeri 03 Guguak VIII Koto Terhadap Pembelajaran Matematika Menggunakan Permainan Ular Tangga
The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions of third grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 03 Guguak VIII Koto towards the use of snakes and ladders games in learning math in the 2021/2022 academic year. The purpose of this study is to describe how strong the relationship between gadget usage and mathematics learning outcomes of third grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 03 Guguak VIII Koto in the 2021/2022 academic year. This type of research is descriptive research. The sample in this study were third grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 03 Guguak VIII Koto in the 2021/2022 academic year, totaling 26 students. The instrument in this study is a questionnaire of students' perceptions of the use of snakes and ladders in learning mathematics. The results show that the perception of grade III students of UPTD SD Negeri 03 Guguak VIII Koto towards the use of snakes and ladders games in learning mathematics in the 2021/2022 academic year, namely 1) 73% of students have a positive perception of the use of snakes and ladders games in learning math, 2) 27% of students have a less positive perception of the use of snakes and ladders games in learning math
THE EFFECT OF USING PICTIONARY GAMES ON STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY
This research was conducted since most of the students still had problems in learning English, especially in vocabulary mastery. Most of the students had difficulties mastering vocabulary, lack of practice in English and students were not motivated to study English. Thus, this research aimed at finding out the effect of using Pictionary Game on students’ Vocabulary Mastery in seventh grade in SMPN 2 Bukittinggi. A quasi-experimental design was used in this study. This study employed two classes: experimental and control. The population was drawn from SMPN 2 Bukittinggi seventh-grade students. In this study, the sample was 28 students from the control group and 31 students from the experimental group. To analyze the data collection procedure, a t-test formula was used. According to the results for the experiment class's pre-test and post-test scores, the t-obtained (12,92) was greater than the t-table (2,042) with the degree of freedom (df) 30 and (0,025). The t- obtained in the calculation of the post-test for both classes was (2,011), which was higher than the t-table (1,672) with (df) 57 and =0,05. So, it can be concluded that the entire hypothesis were accepted. It has been indicated that using a Pictionary game can assist students in improving their vocabulary mastery
ANALISIS ALIH KODE DAN CAMPUR KODE PADA PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA DI KELAS IX.A SMP NEGERI 4 KOTO BARU KABUPATEN DHARMASRAYA TAHUN 2022/2023
Analysis of Code Switching and Code Mixing in Indonesian Language Learning in Class IX.A UPT SMP Negeri 4 Koto Baru, Dharmasraya Regency, 2022/2020. This study aims to describe the forms of code switching and code mixing in Indonesian language learning in class IX.A SMP Negeri 4 Koto Baru, Dharmasraya Regency in 2022/2023 and describe how the purpose of code switching and code mixing is in learning Indonesian in class IX. A UPT SMP N 4 Koto Baru. This research is a qualitative research. The data in this study are words, phrases or sentences used by educators and students in learning or formal situations. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The type of data in this study is primary data, because the data obtained is based on personal observations and recordings made at the research location. The results in this study indicate that the forms of code switching in teaching and learning activities are internal code switching and external code switching, and the forms of code mixing can be grouped based on linguistic elements, namely elements of words, phrases and clauses, then based on the type of language, namely internal and external code mixing. The functions of code switching in teaching and learning activities include giving examples, giving orders, or respecting; and the code mixing function, among others, is to add information or quote, emphasize, and give praise. Code switching and code mixing in teaching and learning activities have positive and negative impacts.Analisis Alih Kode dan Campur Kode pada Pembelajran Bahasa Indonesia di Kelas IX.A UPT SMP Negeri 4 Koto Baru Kabupaten Dharmasraya Tahun 2022/202. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk alih kode dan campur kode pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di kelas IX.A SMP Negeri 4 Koto Baru, Kabupaten Dharmasraya pada tahun 2022/2023 dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana tujuan beralih kode dan campur kode pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di kelas IX.A UPT SMP N 4 Koto Baru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Data pada penelitian ini adalah kata-kata, frasa, atau kalimat yang digunakan oleh pendidik dan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran atau situasi formal. Metode yang digunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Jenis data pada penelitian ini merupakan data primer, karena data yang diperoleh pribadi berdasarkan observasi dan rekaman yang dilakukan pada lokasi penelitian. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bentuk alih kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar adalah alih kode intern dan alih kode ekstern, serta bentuk campur kode dapat dikelompokkan berdasarkan unsur kebahasaan yaitu unsur kata, frasa dan klausa, selanjutnya berdasarkan macam bahasa yaitu campur kode intern dan ekstern. Fungsi alih kode dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar antara lain untuk memberi contoh, memberi perintah, atau menghormati; dan fungsi campur kode antara lain untuk menambah informasi atau mengutip, memberi penekanan, dan memberi pujian. ANALISIS PENGGUNAAN KAIDAH KEBAHASAAN PADA TEKS FABEL SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 3 KOTA SOLOK TAHUN AJARAN 2021/2022
The background of the problem in this study is to analyze the use of linguistic rules in fable texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kota Solok for the 2021/2022 academic year. This study focused on the findings, forms and functions of the use of Indonesian spelling regarding the accuracy and inaccuracy of the use of letters and punctuation in sentences in students' fable texts. The research aims to describe the analysis of the use of linguistic rules in students' fable texts, namely the use of letters and punctuation in terms of accuracy and inaccuracy. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods, namely methods with data collection steps and conclusions. The steps for collecting data in this study were: the researcher asked the teacher for the Indonesian language studies the results of student work. While the steps in data analysis are (1) the researcher reads the student fable text, (2) the researcher underlines and gives coding according to the research instrument, (3) inventorying the data in the research table format 1, (4) classifying the data in the research instrument table format 2, (5) Analyze data. In the research findings, it was found that data regarding the analysis of linguistic rules in terms of accuracy and inaccuracy amounted to 396 data. In terms of accuracy as much as 301 data and in terms of inaccuracy 95 data. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the use of the most prominent linguistic rules used was in terms of accuracy. This is because the use of linguistic rules always occurs in every writing in the fable text. While there is also something that is more dominant in terms of inaccuracy in linguistic rules, namely the use of capital letters that should use lowercase letters.Latar belakang masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah menganalisis penggunaan kaidah kebahasaan pada teks fabel siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Kota Solok Tahun Ajaran 2021/2022. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada temuan, bentuk, dan fungsi penggunaan ejaan bahasa Indonesia tentang ketepatan dan ketidaktepatan pemakaian huruf dan tanda baca pada kalimat dalam teks fabel siswa. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan analisis penggunaan kaidah kebahasaan pada teks fabel siswa yaitu pemakaian huruf dan tanda baca ditinjau dari segi ketepatan dan ketidaktepatan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif yaitu metode dengan langkah-langkah pengumpulan data dan kesimpulan. Langkah-langkah pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu: peneliti meminta hasil kerja siswa kepada guru bidang studi bahasa Indonesia. Sedangkan langkah-langkah dalam analisis data (1) Peneliti membaca teks fabel siswa, (2) Peneliti menggarisbawahi dan memberi pengkodean sesuai dengan instrumen penelitian, (3) Menginvetarisasikan data dalam tabel penelitian format 1, (4) Mengklasifikasikan data dalam tabel instrumen penelitian format 2, (5) Menganalisis data. Dalam temuan penelitian, ditemukan data mengenai analisis kaidah kebahasaan dari segi ketepatan dan ketidaktepatan berjumlah 396 data. Dari segi ketepatan sebanyak 301 data dan segi ketidaktepatan 95 data. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan kaidah kebahasaan yang paling menonjol digunakan adalah dari segi ketepatan. Hal ini disebabkan karena pemakaian kaidah kebahasaan selalu terjadi dalam setiap tulisan pada teks fabel. Sedangkan ada juga yang lebih dominan terjadi pada segi ketidaktepatan kaidah kebahasaan yaitu pada pemakaian huruf kapital yang seharusnya menggunakan huruf kecil
STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN READING COMPREHENSION DURING ONLINE CLASS
This research was conducted to describe students’ achievements at the third semester of English Department students of UMMY Solok at 2021/2022 academic year in reading comprehension during online classes. The researcher found several problems in the process of learning reading comprehension through online classes, namely, some students still found it difficult and were confused to determine language features, generic structures, main ideas, and lack of concentration because sometimes the internet connection has problems. The research method used in this research was ex post facto. The population of this research was all third semester of English Department students of UMMY Solok. The sample of this research was 16 students. Samples were taken using the saturation sample technique. Then the instruments used in collecting data were students’ scores and interviews with students. The results showed that more than half of the students got final exam scores above 70. It means that almost all students got good achievements in reading comprehension during online classes, and two factors affect their achievement, namely internal and external factors. So, online classes were not as bad as students think. Even though the teaching-learning process system has changed to online classes, students can still get good achievements. It was recommended that further researchers discuss other skills to conduct similar research so that students can develop their knowledge well
DEVELOPING ENGLISH INTERACTIVE LEARNING MEDIA BASED ON ANDROID BY USING ARTICULATE STORYLINE 3 APPS
This study was conducted in response to the challenges encountered by students in learning English within an academic context. The identified issues included a lack of interactive learning resources, difficulties in comprehending English materials, limited opportunities for practice, and time constraints within the classroom. Consequently, the aim of this research was to develop an Android-based English interactive learning app using the Articulate Storyline 3 application, specifically tailored to support students in an academic setting.The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, utilizing the 4-D (four-D) version and following the Luther-Sutopo model for system development. The target population consisted of seventh-grade students at SMPIT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru, with a sample size of thirty students. Data were collected through questionnaires and a pretest-posttest procedure. Statistical analysis involved the utilization of Aiken's V formula, the Moment Kappa formula, and the t-test formula. The study yielded three key results. Firstly, the validity test demonstrated a high validity score of 0.88, indicating the reliability and appropriateness of the developed learning app for its intended academic purposes. Secondly, the practicality test produced a score of 0.98, indicating that the learning app was practical and feasible to be used within the academic teaching and learning process. Lastly, the effectiveness test revealed a significant improvement, with a two-tailed significance score of 0.00, which was smaller than the significance level of 0.005. This indicates that the learning app was highly effective in facilitating the academic teaching and learning process. Based on the results of the three tests, it can be concluded that the developed app provides a valuable tool for both teachers and students in the academic English learning process.
 
EXPLORING STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION AND MOTIVATION TOWARD ENGLISH E-LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The purpose of this study was to investigate students' perceptions and motivations toward English e-learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in the school year 2021/2022. The research was conducted using a descriptive quantitative method and involved a sample of nineteen students from grade VIII of SMPN 7 Gunung Talang. The data was collected using a questionnaire designed by the researcher. The questionnaire provided students with a response column to indicate their choices. In the study, 56 perception statements with three aspects and 26 motivation statements with two aspects were used. The results of the study showed that the perception of English e-learning was positive and received a perception score of 49%, and the motivation towards e-learning was rated at 41%. Both perception and motivation were rated as good. The study concluded that English e-learning was effective and appropriate during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study recommends that English teachers adopt creative approaches to effectively educate students and increase motivation for e-learning in possible future situations similar to the COVID-19 pandemic
INVESTIGATING STUDENTS' ANXIETY IN ARGUMENTATIVE WRITING
This study investigated the anxiety-related challenges faced by students in argumentative writing and their impact on writing performance. The research utilized questionnaires to collect quantitative data from fourth-semester students enrolled in the Argumentative Writing Subject. The study explored psychological, emotional, and cognitive obstacles that impede students' writing abilities and contribute to anxiety. Results indicated that 31.8 percent of students reported psychological symptoms such as excessive sweating and trembling hands when engaging in argumentative writing tasks. These manifestations highlighted the negative influence of anxiety on learning outcomes, emphasizing the need for support and interventions. By addressing psychological, emotional, and cognitive difficulties, promoting engagement in the writing process, and encouraging initiative in group discussions, educators can create an inclusive learning environment that fosters student’s ability to overcome anxiety barriers and excel in argumentative writing. However, it is important to acknowledge limitations in this research, including potential response bias due to self-report measures and the limited sample size from a specific educational institution, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Future research should employ diverse assessment methods, and larger and more representative samples, and further explore the intricate connections between psychological, emotional, and cognitive symptoms of anxiety and their specific impacts on writing performance to enhance our understanding of this topic
THE EFFECT OF USING VOCABULARY SELF-COLLECTION STRATEGY (VSS) ON STUDENT’S VOCABULARY MASTERY
Vocabulary is one of the important elements in learning English that make students easy to master English skills; speaking, reading, listening and writing. However, many students lack of vocabulary mastery, so it was difficult for them to determine the meaning or words in context. Therefore, this research was intended to find out the significant effect of using vocabulary self-collection Strategy on student vocabulary mastery. This research used quantitative approach and design was pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test. The researcher used a total sampling technique because it only had one class with a total of 23 students in eighth grade at SMPN 2 Sorkam. Data was collected through a vocabulary test with a pre-test and post-test design of 30 questions. Based on the data analysis, the result exposed that t-obtain was 17.52 while the t-table was 1.717. It means that the hypothesis (Ha) was accepted while the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Therefore, the finding of the data present that there is a significant effect of using self-collection strategy on student vocabulary mastery at eighth grade of SMPN 2 Sorkam
