This master thesis was written to be able to gain main findings about different concepts of salary transparency and their influence on employee satisfaction. To be able to do that, the author of this thesis collected information to those fields with the help of profound literature research. The results of this research were used to create an online survey to ask people about their experiences and feelings in connection witch salary transparency. Over a period of 24 days 293 persons took part in the survey. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 deal amongst others with the given laws in connection with salary transparency, examples, and concepts of transparency from different companies and different theories about employee satisfaction. Summarising it shows that salary transparency cannot just be implemented in companies. They need to adapt salary processes and systems to give employees an objective justification about individual payment and to give them a feeling of fairness. Then salary transparency can have a positive effect on job satisfaction. The evaluation of literature and the collected data would then be used to analyse relations between transparency and satisfaction to be able to answer the research question: ”How do different concepts of salary transparency influence the satisfaction of employees in Austria?” In consideration of the results of literature research and the online survey it is possible to show a relation between transparency concepts and job satisfaction. Ultimately it is feasible to say that concepts of low salary transparency are not as preferred as concepts of high transparency. If salary systems are transparent it leads to higher employee satisfaction, with the limitation, that not the publication of individual salaries is the most preferred concept. A transparent salary range has the best influence on employee satisfaction. Further research objects can focus on the view of companies and employers and their management of transparent salary.

    No full text
The essential question guiding this master thesis deals with the success factors in the strategic online marketing of green startups in Austria. Due to this perspective, the thesis examines qualitatively and comparatively selected cases in order to demonstrate how especially green startups with sustainable innovations contribute to sustainable development by using effective online marketing strategies. Thus, the role of customer centricity seems to be particularly crucial for success, as will be argued in this thesis. In addition to a comprehensive literature analysis regarding the central strategic online marketing instruments – the digital customer journey and the currently rising, intensively discussed method of growth hacking –, six interviews with representatives of Austrian green startups (B2B and B2C) with a focus on climate protection and sustainable consumption provide the main methodological fundaments. The interviews are analyzed by means of the qualitative analysis method developed by Philipp A. E. Mayring. MAXQDA, an analytical tool for qualitative social research, is used additionally. The key findings are that the focus on customer centricity in product development and in most cases also the strong vision of a sustainable contribution to society and its authentic, effective implementation are the most crucial marketing strategy success factors of green startups. With the increasing professionalization of online marketing, digital customer journeys are being analyzed more and more data-driven and databased. Google Analytics as a databased analytics tool is predominantly used to analyze digital customer journeys. Elements of growth hacking such as A/B testing are also used consistently and intensively by the considered Austrian green startups as the degree of scaling increases due to using online paid media via the main touchpoints of Google channels such as Google Ads, Display, Shopping Ads, and YouTube. The advanced dominance of Google in online marketing opens up a critical discussion and a new perspective for sustainable startups in particular in order to collect and own 1st party data within the EU frameworks for data protection and trustworthy Artificial Intelligence that provide alternative solutions to Google Analytics. This development might even give rise to a new practical online marketing consulting discipline: Marketing Data Science.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Citizensourcing als Chance für die Partizipation in Schweizer Gemeinden

This master thesis examines how participation in Swiss communities can be sup-ported through digital approaches. It analyses the extent to which established development and innovation processes from the business world can be applied to the development of a citizensourcing process. In addition to the research in the business environment, practical examples from municipalities will be used to show which possibilities are already being used in municipalities today. This research is supported by qualitative interviews with municipal representatives. The aim of the master thesis is to show municipalities a process with which they can better understand and use the needs and also the creativity of the inhabitants, and thanks to the possibilities of digitalisation, they can carry out the process comprehensibly and efficiently. The challenges for politics and administration in an interdependent world and a framework of action that is increasingly restricted by overarching regulations are becoming more and more complex to master. The phenomenon of "swarm intelligence", the potential of which is only made possible by digitalisation, is still receiving little attention in the state context. The use of informal participation procedures is increasing, but mostly analogue and limited to individual topics. The creative potential of the inhabitants is not systematically used. This is also confirmed by the re-search and the interviews conducted with community representatives. A direct transfer of a development or innovation process successfully practised in the economy to the community context is not possible. The framework conditions as well as the motivating factors for the participation of the population are different. The starting situation in a municipality is also completely different. The promotion of a sustainable quality of life is the focus in the community context, not the creation of completely new offers. Nevertheless, elements of established processes from the economy can be adopted and combined into a citizensourcing process. This master thesis models a corresponding hybrid process and concludes with a recommendation for action for interested municipalities.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

    New-Work-Potenziale in der Altenpflege

Today, leadership and new work are becoming more and more important. With the so-called war for talent on the horizon, numbers no longer play the most significant role. A company must be successful or it cannot exist, but the why of the work being done, the purpose of people’s daily routines, is more important than numbers. An entirely new generation is emerging and asking why X or Y must be completed. For companies in software or other new technology areas, offering flexible working models often works well. For example, a developer could work from home just as well as in an office with hundreds of colleagues. Implementing agile or new leadership in such a company may be easier than implementing it in a healthcare company. However, new leadership methods should exist in healthcare businesses as well; the war for talent cannot be won without it. This thesis investigates this type of modern leadership in an eldercare company. Therefore, workers within the organization have been interviewed to discover if new work as Bergmann describes it is possible within this context. Particular attention is given to Bergmann’s theory and new leadership in this specific business area, wherein most workers are intrinsically motivated and require a certain type of leader. Laloux’s idea of self-organizing teams is also explored. Based on the understanding of these fundamental conditions, this paper explores the challenges of a specific company and intends to offer recommendations for action to decision-makers to exploit the future potential of new work in the healthcare system.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Private banking and the impact of COVID-19 on asset allocations : a comparison between private banks and customers in the DACH region

    No full text
Covid-19 has been occupying both the world economy, customers and humans for more than one year. While different parts of the world – above all Asian countries – are more or less back to their everyday life – the situation in Europe as well as North and South America is still dramatic. Focused on European countries, they are going since months from one lockdown to the other. The big hope is the vaccination, and this should be a game-changer that brings us back to our regular economic and personal life again. Meanwhile, since 2019 almost all business industries are harshly impacted, customers are unsettled, and most employees work for over a year from home via home office. Economic life - with a few exceptions in the technology and health industry area - has almost come to a standstill. Focused in the DACH region and the banking industry, we see a positive change based on the strategies of banks which was an outcome already from the financial crisis in 2008 – banks are digitized. So customers can use online banking. Banks saved millions of euros and Swiss francs of risk provisions to cover defaults of their customers. Banks are fortunate that they have converted mainly their business models since the financial crisis in 2008. This is become a buffer when it comes to Covid-19 where people are forced to adhere the national lockdowns in the DACH region. On closer inspection, to the private banks – they are also proving to be very crisis-resistant. On the one hand, the customers are high-net-worth individuals with wealth to invested appropriately, and, on the other hand, the investment horizon for private customers is a very long one - usually more than ten years. This master thesis takes a closer look at the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on asset allocations of private customers in the DACH region, i.e., portfolios of private clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. To find solutions and provide answers to the context and effects of the Covid-19 crisis, interviews with experts from selected private banks in DACH region as well as surveys from private customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

    No full text
The Covid crisis has not only made the vulnerability of supply chains visible to end-users in Austria/Europe, but also clearly shows how China had been able to turn the crisis into an opportunity with the help of its superplanning goals and strategies. China had managed the Covid pandemic early on, and the economy recovered accordingly. Being the only one of economic superpowers able to achieve economic growth in 2020, China increased exports leading to an unprecedented trade surplus with the EU. This article analyzes the economic developments and logistical challenges in the Covid year 2020, especially between China and the EU in the field of sea, rail and air freight and the corresponding reactions of Austrian logisticians. Hereafter is shown that an adaptation of supply chains, especially between China and Europe but also for better economic cooperation, requires a broader and deeper understanding of Chinese policies, plans, and long-term overarching Chinese planning goals, as well as superplanning. The relevant plans will be presented and discussed with a view to their relevance to Europe. It turns out that both European and Austrian companies and European and national policymakers have a considerable need to understand Chinese strategies – including their own business or policy area – and to develop their own strategies in dealing with them in order to cooperate with China on an equal footing

The success of a company is inherently related to an appropriate and systematic management of risks. In project-oriented organizations, risk management is typically carried out at the enterprise and project levels, but also potentially at other levels related to multi-project management such as the project portfolio or program levels. While ISO 31000:2018 is recognized as an international standard for enterprise risk management, the management of projects, programs and project portfolios often follows project management-specific standards for the respective levels. Taking the concepts behind ISO 31000:2018 as a baseline, this paper analyses the risk management approach of a selected standard for project portfolio management, which as a permanent element of a project-oriented organization represents an essential interface with the permanent organization, and tries to evaluate its basic fit and identify potential synergies that can be exploited when these standards are jointly adhered to within a common integrated management system.Magistratsabteilung 23, Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Statistik Call 18 Multi-Projekt Managemen

<Der > Wandel der Führungsrollen in agilen Organisationen anhand des Fallbeispiels ING Austria

    No full text
Companies need to embrace organizational change in response to permanent changes in the environment: customers needs and demands evolve permanently, new competitors enter the markets from an unexpected side: tech giants like Google, Amazon, Apple and Facebook offer products and services away from their core business, and tech startups emerge with new and sparkling innovations. But there are also internal challenges: cost pressure, rules and regulations, requirements to work faster and to be more adaptive to environmental changes. Employees have higher expectations regarding responsibility, more freedom and a greater scope for creativity and innovation. The agile way of working is a holistic approach to transform an organization in all action fields. This includes changes in strategy, organizational structure, processes, technology and culture. The objective of this work is to find out how leadership roles are impacted by agile transformation and agile environments and how they cope with the new challenges. The concept of agility is introduced as well as the scaleability of agile work. The idea of agile organization is ilustrated with the example of ING Austria which is as a local branch of ING Group and a fully agile transformed organization. The results of the empirical study show approaches how leadership roles can be defined, what is expectated from leaders and how leaders can be prepared in order to create the right context for collaboration in an agile environment.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
