    No full text
This thesis aims to thoroughly investigate the status quo of digitalization in building management in Austria, focusing on the aspects of IT-collaboration, Internet of Things, sensor technology and service robots. To this end, the following research questions are posed: What developments can currently be perceived about digitalization in building management? What are the opportunities in the use of digital technologies in building management? What challenges can be identified in the use of digital technologies in building management? To answer the research questions, a qualitative research design was chosen, consisting of a combination of literature research and interviews with experts from facility management, building management and digitalization in Austrian companies. The qualitative study shows, that IT-collaboration, the Internet of Things and sensor technology are important aspects of digitalization in building management in Austria and that these are developing slowly but continuously. This statement does not apply to service robots, as the robot technology is not mature enough for this service area at the present time, knowledge about possible areas of application and advantages in building management is too limited and there is a lack of practical examples in Austria. Based on the results, the service companies in building management should assume the role of advisor or service partner for new technologies in addition to that of service provider and be open to new developments. Where long-term use of buildings is planned, it is advisable to keep an eye on the entire life cycle of the buildings and to consult architects, construction companies and service providers at an early stage to work out joint concepts for the construction and use phases of the buildings. Since the building management will not be able to work without its employees in the future and qualified employees are urgently needed in the building management, several measures are needed to improve working conditions. In addition, it is beneficial to push standardization in building management.

In the past years, especially in the service industry, it has become clear that one main factor for company productivity is its employees. In this context, employee motivation comes into play, which has proven to have a significant impact on employee productivity. To influence employee motivation and thus their productivity, companies can utilize their management personnel. Many companies do not unlock their managers’ full potential, because they select them for technical competence over leadership skills and seldomly take the time to provide sufficient training. This paper aims to understand the range of leadership styles, their advantages and disadvantages, and their impact on employee motivation. Moreover, its goal is to evaluate what adaptions are auxiliary to employee motivation, using the example of one specific company called ‘BG Verkehr’, which is short for ‘Berufsgenossenschaft für Verkehrswirtschaft, Post-Logistik und Telekommunikation’. For this purpose, the paper regards the following questions. Which leadership styles do the managers apply in the considered departments of the BG Verkehr? Which leadership styles do the current employees desire? Which characteristics of the leadership styles impact the motivation of employees? This thesis utilizes a qualitative interview of selected experts to answer the given questions. In order to create a semi structured interview guide, the first step is literature research concerning leadership, leadership styles and employee motivation. After conducting the interviews, the given statements are combined with the theoretical background to answer the research questions. The current leadership style in the BG Verkehr is not limited to one but combines different styles between which the managers alternate. The desired leadership style would be a combination of the democratic style according to Lewin or Goleman, the visionary Style by Goleman and the transactional Style by Burns. The answer to the last question of this paper is that multiple characteristics of leadership styles can influence employee motivation in different ways. These characteristics are decision-making, the ability to take criticism, error culture, individual initiative and communication. In conclusion the managers of the BG Verkehr should be made aware of different styles to utilize the possible impacts on employees and their motivation.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Online Marketing und die Relevanz im Private Banking Sektor

    No full text
This master’s thesis addresses the possibilities and challenges of online marketing in private banking. It also determines how a private bank can use appropriate advertising measures to ensure customer loyalty and new customer acquisition and how the success of these measures can be assessed. During the analysis, experts from Schelhammer Capital Bank AG, one of the oldest private banks in Vienna, were interviewed. These interviews were then evaluated according to Mayring’s qualitative content analysis. Since the beginning of the proliferation of the internet bank managers have long viewed banks as institutions that do not rely on online marketing. In addition, man-aging direcors and marketers in the financial sector maintain great great respect for the diverse legal and social ramifications of possible public missteps in advertising. In particular, private banks have to manage a balancing act between the personal and individual needs of customers and modern media and struggle with high customer turnover and customers’ desire for transparent products. Due to the immateriality of the service on offer, bank marketing is particularly difficult; it is a product that is intangible, changes quickly, and concerns a sensitive area of the costumers. Even if the risks online marketing entails for a private bank do not essentially differ from those to which other companies are subjected, successful communication with customers is still very important. In this regard, individualisation and personalisation according to the concept of one-to-one marketing is a particularly important criterion. Online, the website of a private bank is also particularly important. Since recommendation management forms another important category, special attention should be paid to community management by the marketers.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

    No full text
This thesis is designed to facilitate an entry level introduction to the digital world of blockchain technology and crypto currencies, with a specific focus on NFTs. A comprehensive overview regarding the technological components of the blockchain is presented as well as an integrated project case study about the implementation of digital art via NFTs, which are based upon this technological framework. This is aimed at readers who are not familiar with IT or computer science on a deeper level, but have an affinity for the topic at hand. The paper starts with a general introduction to blockchain technology as it constitutes the fundament for most processes related to and within the crypto world. Different scenarios of application for NFTs in economic, cultural or sports settings are described as well. Afterwards the currently unclear legal classification of NFTs in national and international legislation is briefly discussed. Furthermore, selected NFT-collaborations of distinguished companies and institutions are described regarding their activities during their respective marketing launch campaigns. For the digital case study, a concrete project plan will be drafted and executed, which contains all necessary steps in the planning and implementation of the original NFT project. A unique NFT is designed and at the end of the project stage launched on a designated NFT marketplace. The afore mentioned marketing strategies are used to deduct the most appropriate benchmark strategy for direct reference. A reflexive conclusion marks the end of this paper, where not only the case study but also an outlook regarding future developments for NFTs in different areas of the economy or culture are referred to.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

Auswirkungen der COVID-Krise auf die Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena und Raiffeisen Bank International sowie Einfluss der Mechanismen, die als Reaktion auf die Finanzkrise 2008 etabliert wurden

This thesis discusses the European regulatory framework and how this has impacted the Austrian bank Raiffeisen Bank International and the Italian bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena. The main question that will be analysed throughout this academic work is how institutions and legal requirements that were implemented after the financial crisis of 2008 influenced the stability of the two aforementioned banks, and how they performed during the recent Covid-19 pandemic. The starting point of the thesis is the financial crisis, in order to provide a brief understanding of how such an event could occur, and how it shaped the development of regulatory requirements that were established for banks in order to be prepared for future crises. These new regulatory requirements, namely Basel III and the banking union, are described in the following chapters, as well as the coronavirus and the crisis that resulted from the pandemic. By analysing the impact that this crisis had on the two aforementioned banks, it is possible to demonstrate whether the regulatory measures effectively increased the stability of the two banks, or if these measures were insufficient. Additionally, experts were interviewed in order to gain specific knowledge about the functioning of these regulatory institutions as well as their impact on banks.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202

In order to be able to cope with the diverse demands of today's working world, many managers depend on their employees. The role of the manager is to build and strengthen the trust process. The aim of this paper is to examine the trust bond and the trust process with employees. In doing so, the question is pursued as to which variables can have an influence on the trust relationship between managers and employees from the manager's point of view. At the same time, the advantages and disadvantages of trust relationships between managers and employees will be examined. Within the framework of a qualitative study, based on interviews with eleven manager in middle to upper management, who manage at least five directly subordinated employees and come from different sectors of the economy, were interviewed using a semi-standardised guide. The semi-standardised guide was based on the current state of research and a model for establishing a culture of trust in an organisation. All interviews were analysed using structuring qualitative content analysis. The results show that employee characteristics, such as openness and organisational commitment, play a major role in building trust among managers. Furthermore, it was shown that trust can basically offer a positive economic advantage for the organisation. By offering freedom and room for manoeuvre, managers can increase motivation and performance. In addition to positive influencing factors, the study also found indications that mistrust crystallises through increased control mechanisms. The study also shows that there is no uniform understanding of trust.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
