Die therapeutische Wirkung von Virtual Reality (VR) als begleitende Maßnahme bei der Behandlung von Demenz am Fallbeispiel „Emotionale Zeitreise“ des Kuratorium Wiener Pensionisten-Wohnhäuser (KWP)
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), currently more than 55 million people worldwide are suffering from the consequences of dementia. This number is expected to rise to 153 million in 2050, largely due to population growth and ageing. At present, there is no effective therapy or cure available. Numerous treatments are being investigated, with particular emphasis being placed on non-pharmacological interventions.
By applying a multi-perspective, qualitative, research approach, the aim of this study is to explore the benefit and value added of Virtual Reality technology for the integrated care of people with dementia (PwD). A case study is used to showcase the effects of 360-degree images and videos with personal relevance, on PwD’s physical and mental state.
Based on the conclusions drawn from the data analysis, there is clear evidence that a VR intervention has the potential to encourage movement, revive specific cognitive abilities, reduce certain behavioural disorders, and to overall increase well-being in PwD. Furthermore, there are indications that temporary activation could be causally linked to the mirror neuron system (MNS), to specific cues in VR and/or visual affordance perceptions. Further research is needed to verify the validity of these findings.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Potenziale eines neu zu planenden Zentrums für „Digitale Transformation in Ostfriesland in Zusammenarbeit mit Coworking Spaces der Region“
The topic of digital transformation is currently being picked up by many trade journals, books and at various conferences in a business context. Therefore, more and more entrepreneurs feel compelled to break new ground. The changes are omnipresent. Managers are therefore consultants and coaches, employees work in a self-organized and self-responsible manner. The pace of change is impressively high. It must be noted that some entrepreneurs and employees can hardly keep up. There are big changes in every area of life. As a result of the pandemic alone, people had to learn how to organize themselves, collaborate online and constantly use new tools. As a result, many people in East Friesland have become aware that there is a lack of infrastructure in the form of cell phone reception or a reasonable internet connection. Homeschooling and home office was hardly possible in some households.
How can a center for digital transformation in East Friesland be useful? What needs and requirements do companies and employees in the region have for such a center? How do offers have to be communicated in order to inform as many people as possible and what role can coworking spaces that are close to home play?
In the form of guided interviews, representatives of the individual groups were asked about their experiences and assessments. In this way, not only the individual wishes could be recorded in individual interviews, but also supra-individual challenges could be identified through the scientific merging of the individual results. In addition, concrete recommendations for the center in connection with coworking spaces were developed.
The most important findings are that local learning opportunities are necessary. Offers are needed for people who want to get to know the terms first, but also for professionals who want to learn more. The second insight is that a coworking space is not only seen as a place of work but also as a place of learning. Local exchange of experience must be encouraged and made possible.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Wirtschaft und Management : Schriftenreihe zur wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Forschung und Praxis / The impact of sanctions on Russia and the consequent Russian business relocation to Armenia
The Armenian and Russian economies are tightly knitted and the sanctions imposed on Russia will have a significant short- and long-term impact on the economic life of Armenia. In the article, we discuss how the companies that used to operate in Russia look for new places to relocate themselves and to develop their business. Business relocation may be required for various reasons, including establishing new connections, finding a more profitable tax system, convenience and access to technology and cheap labor. However, changing the location has become one way of how to avoid the pressure of sanctions and restrictions for Russian organizations. The first wave of relocations encompassed companies from the high-tech and service sectors. Even though they have benefited from tax exemptions and deferments for the IT sector, these companies have contributed to the improvement of economic activity as well as generated additional consumption and rent payments. Armenia has capitalized additional output and export increase of some industries. However, the economic growth is not proportional. The impact of sanctions against Russia has already been manifested in Armenia by the instability of the exchange rate, the significant increase in prices, intensified inflation pressure, etc. Indeed, difficult times await not only Russia, but also Armenia, as long as the latter continues to be over-integrated into the Russian economy which entails partly sharing the burden of the consequences of the westimposed sanctions. Under the conditions of increasing economic turbulence, Armenia should further diversify its policies and economy.

Sustainability is currently one of the present topics for companies to talk and report about. Nowadays, companies must regularly deal with this term and its meaning. The reason for this is, among other things, the increased pressure on companies due to comprehensive regulatory requirements, such as the "Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)", which will come into force on January 1, 2024. This directive obliges companies to submit non-financial reports which have been evaluated by an external auditor, such as Deloitte, EY, KPMG or PWC. Another reason for the rising interest on sustainability is the increased demand from investors. Companies need to address sustainability issues to remain attractive to investors. Therefore, organizations need to cope with the so called “corporate social responsibility” and need to prove that they take actions to address environmental, social and governance issues. For those reasons, dealing with the non-financial aspects, including ecological and social objectives, is already playing an important role for many companies.
Internal audit has a central position within a company's corporate governance system and is independent of management. Therefore, it can provide assurance and insights into the adequacy and effectiveness of governance and risk management to governing bodies and management. Hence, it would be valuable to involve internal audit in sustainability topics within the company. In 1981, scholar Elmer B. Staats predicted that by the year of 2000, social and environmental audits would be part of internal audit's audit plan. However, current studies on an international level have shown that social and environmental topics have not been a priority in the work of internal auditors so far. As there is a discrepancy between the literature and the outcome of the international studies, the aim of this master thesis is to analyze the current role and involvement of internal audit regarding environmental und social topics in Austrian companies. The purpose is to evaluate whether the integration has happened in Austrian companies or not. The focus of this master thesis are listed Austrian companies. Another objective of this thesis is to evaluate what kind of requirements are needed to either get the involvement and engagement of internal audit in Austrian companies regarding environmental and social issues or to increase such an involvement (in case involvement and engagement already has taken place).
To answer these questions, two groups of experts, internal audit and sustainability management, from different Austrian listed companies have been interviewed. In total, eight interviews have been held.
The conclusion on this master thesis is, that nowadays internal audit is not playing an important role regarding sustainability topics (environmental and social) in Austrian companies. In most of the companies a regular meeting between internal audit and sustainability management is taken place, but mostly just to talk about governance. Employees of internal audit also do not have the knowledge and experience regarding sustainability, such as CO2 emissions, recycling, or labor law. Even tough, in Austria the internal audit department is not playing an active role in environmental and social issues nowadays, all interviewed experts agree that internal audit should be more involved and engaged in those topics in the future. To get the involvement and engagement of Internal Audit, the top management must decide first what kind of role and engagement internal audit should have in sustainability. After the decision, the required personnel resources can be either hired, and/or the necessary training and further education can take place.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Parkinson-Patient Parkinson-Patienten Parkinson-Patientin Parkinson-Patientinnen

Artificial intelligence enhanced supply chains and sustainability impact : a bibliometric analysis
Artificial intelligence (AI) is at the forefront of current research trends. It has the potential to completely transform supply chains and the way businesses operate. Modern supply chains are facing multiple challenges. These include: Making optimal decisions while handling substantial amounts of data, staying competitive against increasing global competition, improving resource efficiency, and achieving environmental sustainability within businesses. AI is an emerging topic, that is still in its early stages of development. Therefore, the aim of this master's thesis is to strengthen the understanding of research conducted on AI within the context of supply chains and the potential improvements this disruptive technology can bring. Furthermore, the purpose of this thesis is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of research. Additionally, given that climate change is one of the most critical and prevalent issues, another objective of this study is to identify if new technologies like artificial intelligence can assist in overcoming environmental challenges and in the development of environmentally friendly supply chains.
A bibliometric analysis is being conducted, examining 365 articles using the Scopus database to identify current research trends in AI within supply chains. The results are being analysed using Harzing's Publish or Perish software and VOSviewer. The findings indicate that artificial intelligence in the context of supply chains has not been receiving much attention in the last decade but is currently experiencing a significant surge in research over the last three years. The United Kingdom, China, the United States, and India are the largest contributors in terms of scientific research. Decision-making, sustainability, sales, industry 4.0, blockchain, and the internet of things are trending topics within the context of supply chains and AI.
Moreover, a literature review is being conducted to identify sustainability enhancements through AI in supply chains. The results indicate that AI can help reduce carbon emissions, enhance decision-making, replace repetitive labour, improve data analysis, and assist organisations in working more efficiently with optimal resource usage.
This master's thesis contributes to research on AI in supply chains by offering a comprehensive understanding of existing knowledge, identifying trending research topics and research gaps and pinpointing influential countries and research clusters. Moreover, it adds to the research by providing valuable insights about benefits and enhanced processes in the realm of AI and sustainable supply chains.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
Internet of Things Technologien und Automatisierungstechniken in der Lagerlogistik : Analyse und Handlungsempfehlungen für Unternehmen
It can be observed that companies are coming under increasing pressure to digitize themselves and thereby continue to position themselves competitively on the market, irrespective of demographic change and the associated shortage of skilled workers. Warehouse logistics is an area with personnel-intensive activities. There are many opportunities here to automate routine as well as physically demanding activities. In addition to automation technologies, IoT technologies are considered to have a promising future. This paper deals with the challenges faced by companies that want to automate their warehouse logistics and integrate IoT technologies. It also questions what technical and organizational requirements should exist to enable a transition to IoT-based technologies. A comprehensive literature review provides information on the current state of development of automation and IoT technologies and informs about their useful application in warehouse logistics. In the empirical part of the thesis, four experts from were interviewed on the topic of introducing automation and IoT technologies. From the literature and the evaluated interviews, it can be concluded that automation and IoT application go hand in hand and can be applied together. It can be seen that the greatest challenges for companies lie on the one hand in the quality and availability of the data (item master data, order data) and the processes, and on the other hand in the involvement of employees in this process, which should be as transparent as possible. It can be stated that companies that take care of these issues at an early stage usually manage the digital transformation more easily: This can be an integration of a warehouse management system, professional process management and open communication in the company divisions. Recommendations for action are intended to support companies in a planned implementation of IoT and automation-based technologies in warehouse logistics.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
e-Partizipation im Subventionswesen : Möglichkeiten, Voraussetzungen, Auswirkungen und Handlungsempfehlungen
Participation allows citizens to get involved in the political process and thus participate in shaping society. Through participation, politics and administration can move closer to citizens, exchange ideas, act in a partnership, or even transfer power to them. Political participation has been possible at the federal level since the founding of modern Switzerland in 1848. While parliament, consisting of the Council of States and the National Council, offers participation within the frame-work of representative democracy, referendum, plebiscite, and elections are participation within the framework of direct democracy. There are many examples of further participation, whereby the term deliberative democracy is often used. Development of the internet and social media has also created opportunities for eParticipation.
Based on publicly available information from the cultural sector, the possibilities for participation in the area of subsidy legislation and allocation are examined. Mayring's summary content analysis has been chosen as the scientific method.
The study of scientific literature shows the state of the art of participation theory, the influence of digital media, preconditions, and examples of applied participation.
The study concludes that deliberative participation is possible at the federal level, but has hardly been applied. Based on this, possibilities for expansion and the necessary preconditions are elaborated.Masterarbeit Wien, Fachhochschule des BFI Wien 202
