    Get PDF
In this digital era, many new learning media can be used to improve students' abilities or make learning more effective. One of them is using movies as a medium to improve students' skills, such as speaking skills. In speaking, the use or mastery of accents is also essential. The researchers conducted this study intending to find out the effect of watching English movies on students' speaking accents. Previously, the analysis of accents influenced by watching English films has never been analyzed. The researchers used descriptive qualitative research method to find out the results of the data collected by open questionnaire. The researchers chose the descriptive qualitative research method to describe the conditions observed in the field, specifically, transparently, and deeply. Forty-two respondents filled out a questionnaire consisting of 12 open-ended questions related to the effect of watching English movies on students' accent speaking ability. The result showed that 49% of respondents agreed that watching English movies affects students' accent speaking ability, and 28.8% strongly agreed. From these answers and based on other supporting questions, the researchers found the influence of English movies on students' accent speaking ability. This study concludes that students realize that they can improve their speaking ability with English movies. This study implies that teachers can use movies as learning media to provide accent improvement in students' speaking ability

COMPREHENSIVE GEOTECHNICAL ANALYSIS OF LANDSLIDE RISK FACTORS: INSIGHTS FROM KARO REGENCY, NORTH SUMATERA, INDONESIA

    Get PDF
This study explores geological and geotechnical factors impacting landslide risk inKaro Regency, Sumatera Utara, Indonesia, a region inherently susceptible tolandslides due to its volcanic terrain. Analyzing seven landslide sites, the researchcombines field slope geometry measurements and soil bulk density tests withdetailed laboratory investigations, including Triaxial Unconsolidated Undrained(Triaxial UU) testing. Findings reveal critical insights into soil behavior, stability, and variations in shear strength parameters. The Unified Soil Classification System(USCS) identifies prevalent soil types, dominated by poorly graded sands andgravelly sands. Triaxial UU testing exposes significant variations in shear strengthparameters, highlighting soil heterogeneity. This comprehensive study contributes togeotechnical engineering, emphasizing the need for tailored mitigation strategiesand multidisciplinary approaches in effective landslide risk management in KaroRegency

Analysis of the Effect of PWHT on the Corrosion Test of API 5L X65 Material in Submerged Arc Welding

    Get PDF
This research discusses the method of making distribution pipes using the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) welding process, especially for pipes with spiral connections. The material used is API 5L X65. SAW pipes with spiral joints are more commonly used for low-pressure piping systems. However, in certain cases, the production of SAW pipes for Sour Service distribution requires special treatment. Sour Service pipes have a high level of corrosion and residual stress, so Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) is required to prevent Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC). HIC occurs due to the absorption and accumulation of hydrogen gas in the metal, causing the formation and growth of cracks, which is also influenced by residual stress. PWHT is applied to reduce residual stress to reduce the risk of corrosion. PWHT is a process to change the structure of the weld metal by heating the metal at a certain temperature and time. This research shows that variations in PWHT temperature produce an average residual stress that is not much different with less difference than 2%, In corrosion testing with the HIC method shows crack evidence but is still satisfactory NACE MR0175 criteria for pipe PWHT temperature variation conditions

The skincare business in Indonesia is growing very rapidly. In the midst of intense competition for skincare products, skincare manufacturers are competing to offer products that suit consumers' needs and desires with various innovations and advantages. Apart from that, manufacturers are also aggressively promoting their products on social media using various methods to build brand awareness and brand image, which are very important assets because they can influence consumer perceptions and behavior. But currently, there is chaos in the world of skincare in Indonesia. Moreover, it is related to allegations that the ingredients in the product do not necessarily correspond to those listed and reported to BPOM. This problem has gone very viral since the appearance of a doctor known as the "Detective Doctor" who provides education based on laboratory tests of the ingredients in beauty products whether they match what is stated on the packaging or not (overclaim). Detective Doctors can also be considered Key Opinion Leaders (KOL). Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) can be said to be the same as influencers because they have the same influence on consumer behavior. This research aims to determine the influence of Brand Awareness, Brand Image, and Key Opinion Leaders on Hanasui Product Purchasing Decisions. This research is associative research and the type of data used is quantitative data. The population of this research is all the unknown number of Hanasui product users. The sample in this study consisted of 100 respondents. The technique used is multiple linear regression technique. The research results show that the Brand Awareness and Key Opinion Leader variables have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions for Hanasuni products. Meanwhile, Brand Image has a positive but not significant influence on the decision to purchase Hanasui product
