    Get PDF
In this paper we have reported the system for design as well as development of a smart monitoring And controlling system for household electrical appliances in real-time. The system basically monitors electrical parameters of household appliances like voltage and current and subsequently calculates the power consumed by the system. The goodness of system is the implementation of the controlling mechanism of appliances in various ways. The developed system is of low-cost and very flexible in operation and thus can save electricity expense of the end consumers. The prototype has been extensively tested in reallife situations and experimental results are very good

Computational Analysis of Brainwaves for Mind Relaxation during Meditation- A Survey

    Get PDF
In the last few decades or so, various neuro imaging modalities have been used to answer questions regarding mind relaxation and anxiety states, ranging from EEG, fMRI, PET and others. Meditation as a mind relaxing technique is widely perceived to have potent, specific effects on both the body and mind. The researchers have traced the various spectral characteristics of EEG recorded during meditation. The changes of EEGs during meditation is analyzed by using various signal processing techniques. Also the statistical parameters are compared and results obtained. Lot of research is going on towards the same direction Some of very reputed Research institutes are involved in this field like S.Vyas University, Bangluru, Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Institute of Neurosciences, Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, All India Institute of medical sciences, etc. This paper is an attempt to study the various method used by researchers, scientists and doctors to study the positive effects of meditation

Simulation and Analysis of DPFC and DIPFC

    Get PDF
The power system comprises of generation, transmission, distribution and utilization. The more power requirement by the electrical utilities made the power system complex and dynamic. In order to improve the power at the receiving end FACTs has facilitated the power system engineers. An attempt is done in this paper to study the two device controlled Distributed Power Flow Controller (DPFC) and Distributed Interline Power Flow controller (DIPFC) with power quality issues like voltage regulation, THD. A case study of the simulation is carried out with IEEE standard 5-bus system

A Knowledge-based approach to urban land use classification using AVIRIS imagery and LiDAR data

    Get PDF
In this paper, the joint effect of hyperspectral and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data for urban land use/ land cover (LULC) classification has been analyzed as combination of two data sources can result in better classification as compared to single data source. LULC classification of urban areas is a difficult task due to high spectral and spatial variability, especially with the use of single data source. The result of spectral angle mapper (SAM) classification, a supervised classification method, on hyperspectral imagery is compared with that of a knowledge based classification (KBC) combining LiDAR and hyperspectral data. Spectra from ASTER library was used as reference spectra for SAM classification while for Knowledge based classification nDSM derived from LiDAR data and indices derived from Hyperspectral data has been used. It was found that knowledge based classification had 7-8% more accuracy than SAM classification. Thus, it can be concluded that Knowledge based classification can be used as an efficient technique in this area

Conductive Concrete Shield for Electronics Against Electro-Magnetic Pulse Attack

    Get PDF
Electronic equipment and data servers contribute for storing confidential information.During high altitude EMP attack data servers and electronic equipments are hampered critically which further leads to loss of data.To prevent this mishap we provide these equipments by improving properties of concrete so as to make it conductive.Concrete is made conductive by adding and changing different materials related to it's composition. The structure is meant to provide absorption, reflection and re-reflection to the incoming EMP waves by providing a conductive path around the structure .An optimal tradeoff is selected between compressive strength and conductivity values as the materials used to increase conductivity might reduce the strength of the structure. Along with the study of conductive materials, measurement standards for attenuation is mentioned here

Home Automation using IOT and Speech Signal

    Get PDF
    — Home Automation implies controlling of home appliances and features automatically and in some cases remotely using smart phone. Speech based home automation utilizes human voice orders to operate the electrical appliances in the home. It is extremely helpful for individuals and particularly for elderly and physically weakens people. These paper we developed home automation prototyped using Raspberry Pi and IOT. We present the implementation of home automation using two technologies. The First technology uses human speech technology for controlling electrical appliances when we are at home. It uses jasper software to recognize speech command and raspberry pi module for switch on or off. The second scheme uses Google app on smart phone and IOT for controlling electrical appliances when person is out of home. Raspberry pi 3B module is developed by using ARM11 microcontroller. The developed system also alerts the user about any instruction into the house when we are out of home. Relays and electrical appliances are used as load to demonstrate the working of the prototype system. Home automation using speech signal gives relaxation, comfort and security to control home appliances or office. Recommend system control electrical home equipment with human speech signal and IOT devices and easy of installation. &nbsp

An Brillouin backscattered power a measure for sensing strain in civil structures due to displacement of optical fiber

    No full text
In this paper the application of Brillouin Scattering for monitoring strain along the fiber is carried out by designing a strain sensor. Inside the fiber the photons interact with the fiber molecules and cause some changes in the propagation of light. The backscattered light spectrum contains three types of light signal namely; the Rayleigh backscattered light, the Brillouin backscattered light and the Raman backscattered light. The backscattered optical signals carries much information on the variation of strain in the path of wave propagation. The Brillouin backscattered light signal power can be used to obtain information about the strain distribution along the fiber. The changes in Brillouin backscattered light signal is effective in detecting the strain changes in the surrounding. In this paper the application of Brillouin Scattering for strain monitoring is performed. Detailed designing of a strain sensor for application in civil structures is done to validate the proposed method using the OptiSystem software

Study of Orbital Angular Momentum in Electromagnatic waves using UCA

    Get PDF
Concept of Orbital Angular momentum with the help of mathematical equations has been discussed. An investigation of 4, 6 and 8 elements uniform circular array (UCA) for different Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) modes is carried out. The effect of varying the uniform circular radius is also disused. The application of OAM in microwave frequency to enhancing the channel capacity is discussed. Uniform circular antenna array for all possible combination has been simulated and its results are demonstrated for different physical and electrical characteristi

    Ancient and Modern Steganography

    Get PDF
Steganography is an art of putting information in a medium without causing significant and statistically difference in the medium. The word steganography conjoins words “steganos” which means covert and “graphein” meaning writing, which means hidden writing. Steganography is although not a new art and had been used during the ancient times. The steganography process has changed from ancient times to digital age but the concept remained the same. This paper will discuss on various methods used during ancient times and evolution and used in recent times

Smart Reader – Text To Speech Converter Using Raspberry Pi

    Get PDF
Smart Reader allows user to hear the text which is given as input. It involves extraction of text from the image and converting the text to speech. This is done with Raspberry Pi and a camera module by using the OCR [optical character recognition] technique. The system consists of a webcam interfaced with raspberry pi. Raspberry pi has the audio port where the output can be heard through the headphone or the speaker. The conversion time aimed is few milliseconds. This device can help visually impaired persons to hear the text in images to be read
