    Get PDF
This work presents a miniature piezoelectric model that analyses the generated electrical energy occurring from the variations in the acceleration. It consists of a seismic energy harvester or a bimorph whichisfixedtoavibratingsourceatoneendandaproof masstoanotherend.Thebimorphisatgroundpotential and two electrodes are placed at the outer surface of the cantilever beam. A fixed electric load calculates the frequency of vibration and the acceleration thus caused by the virtue of DC output voltage is found to be linear. Various Piezoelectric materials are used to analyze the vibration and acceleration on the model. This energy harvesters find applications in volcanic seismic equipment’s as this modeled system can provide a small amount of energy to detect the seismicwaves

GPS TRACKING SYSTEM BASED ON SETTING WAYPOINT USING GEO-FENCING

    Get PDF
In this paper we propose an Android-basedapplication to help working parents keep a track of theirchildren’s whereabouts in their daily lives. To effectively track auser’s movements and where they are, we first propose anefficient and effective method to define a geo-fence forpredefined points on a map. This method gets activated when theuser enters a certain fence area and sends a trigger. The locationupdates are output to parents in the form of SMS or an appnotification. Performance of the proposed waypoint algorithm isquantitatively evaluated. This is beneficial for working parentswho cannot be around their children all the time and thushelping them in knowing their child is safe through real-timemonitoring or via SMS&nbsp

Empirical Ratio of Higher Optical Transitions in Semiconducting SWCNTs

    Get PDF
In this work, the ‘ratio problem’ among higheroptical transition energies (4th, 5th and 6th transitions) ofsemiconducting single-wall carbon nanotube is discussed. Anumber of semiconducting single-wall carbon nanotubes having(n – m) familyrange 2 to 32 with mod (n-m, 3) ≠0 and havingdiameter range 1.48nm to 3.44nm are considered. Higher opticaltransition energies of all those tubes are recorded from variousexperimental reports based on fluorescence and Ramanspectroscopy. Based on that observation, ratio betweenconsecutive higher transition energies for all semiconducting tubeis expressed empirically through some empirical expressions interms of diameter, (n- m) family and mod value. The empiricalratio matched very well with experiment ratio over the fulldiameter range. The proposed empirical way to expressing thisratio may greatly help in finding the proper ratio of higheroptical transitions without depending on experimental values ofthese transitions. The generated pattern from the plot of thisempirical ratio can also help in Photoluminescence basedchirality assignment

Neural Network based ECG Anomaly Detection on FPGA

    Get PDF
This paper presents FPGA-based ECG arrhythmia detection using an Artificial Neural Network(ANN). The objective is to implement a neural network-based machine learning algorithm on FPGA to detect anomalies in ECG signals, with a better performance and accuracy, compared to statistical methods. An implementation with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for feature reduction and a hybrid approach which include multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and Probabilistic neural network (PNN) for classification, proved superior to other algorithms. For implementation on FPGA, the effects of several parameters and simplification on performance, accuracy and power consumption were studied. Piecewise linear approximation for activation functions and fixed point implementation were effective methods to reduce the amount of needed resources. The resulting neural network with twelve inputs and six neurons in the hidden layer, achieved, in spite of the simplifications, the same overall accuracy as simulations with floating point number representation. An accuracy of 99.82% was achieved on average for the MIT-BIH database

Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio by Advanced Cuckoo Search

    Get PDF
The radio spectrum is a naturally limitedresource which is needed for wireless communication systems.Cognitive Radio (CR) is a suitable technology that can improvethe spectrum utilization efficiency. Spectrum utilization can beenhanced by allocating licensed band to secondary user(SU)/unlicensed user when the primary user (PU)/licensed useris absent. The key feature of the CR is spectrum sensing. Theaim of this paper is to sense the spectrum holes or channels andif primary user is not present then provide those emptychannels to secondary users by using Advanced Cuckoo Searchmethod (ACS). By using ACS method, the time of capturingfree channels is reduced as compared to other methods.Furthermore, simulation is done to study the performance ofproposed method, which shows the proposed scheme is moreefficient as compared to existing scheme

    Get PDF
with the huge amount of increase in data thesedays data processing has become very important. It filtersa large amount of data. The text mining tool finds relationbetween the words in text content and analyzes the resultsas well. Deriving quality information from text forms thecrux of data analysis or text mining. This paper focuses ona text mining application. Text information present inimages is recognized and is summarized according torequirement, i.e. number of lines that text needs tosummarize is dependent on user. Text mining thus is usedto save time of the user, increase the data efficiency. It isused to make computation on data that a human woulddefinitely fail to do, that is for analytics of large volumes ofdata. Hence text image extraction and summarization is anecessity in the current scenario. If the efficiency of theproposed model is optimized, this model of Text ImageExtraction and Summarization can be very beneficial. Itcan used as a ready to go , click image and get summaryapplication in a variety of situations. In this proposedmodel, even the number of lines the content has to bespecified, thus ensuring that the extent of summarization iscompletely user controlled
