Get PDFThis study developed a lesson plan and cultivation planning worksheet based on the theoretical content of the technology education topic titled “Technology of Nurturing Living Things.” We proposed a highly practical and versatile classroom application model through a practical session conducted in a junior high school. Moreover, we instituted a practical classroom lesson in which students were asked to plan the cultivation of Komatsuna (Brassica rapa L. var. perviridis) to achieve the cultivation goals they established. First, the students were informed of the importance of anticipating problems that could be expected in the cultivation of Komatsuna using planters and determining the causes of the ascertained problems before planning its cultivation. Subsequently, the students confirmed the purposes and effects of management-related work through Internet research and video materials. Thus, they understood the contents and appropriate durations of the efforts required for the management of Komatsuna cultivation. Furthermore, the students were tasked with developing an efficient cultivation plan for the next stage. They practiced creating a concrete plan for thinning based on the cultivation goals presented as examples. During the learning activity to produce a cultivation plan, the students were instructed to design a better cultivation plan by selecting and improving their personal techniques to manage growth and regulate the growing environment according to their cultivation goals. Thus, the lesson summary confirmed that the students were able to reflect on the learning acquired from their growing plans by recognizing that the number and timing of management tasks differed depending on their growing goals.textapplication/pd
