    ILLOCUTIONARY FORCE AND PRAGMATIC IDENTITY: A SPEECH ACT ANALYSIS OF GLINDA’S UTTERANCES IN WICKED: PART ONE (2024)

    The pragmatic aspects of Glinda\u27s language use in Wicked: Part One (2024) are examined in this study, with a particular emphasis on how her statements fit into Searle\u27s (1979) taxonomy of illocutionary acts. As one of the film\u27s primary figures, Glinda exhibits a discursive complexity through which her social identity, emotional maturation, and interpersonal techniques are built. Utilizing qualitative content analysis supported by ATLAS.ti software, the research identifies and categorizes her speech acts into five illocutionary types: assertives, directives, commissives, expressives, and declarations. The results show that Glinda\u27s speech serves to performatively alter social connections, assert authority, and negotiate ideological positions in addition to conveying information. From a total of 288 utterances, the most frequently occurring illocutionary act was assertive (48.26%), followed by directive (36.81%), expressive (10.42%), commissive (3.82%), and declarative (0.69%). This article contributes to the junction of linguistic pragmatics and character discourse analysis in cinematic texts, demonstrating how illocutionary force might index character identity and relational power in fictional tales

    EKSPLORASI MINAT IBU-IBU DESA DALAM MENGIKUTI PENGAJIAN DI DUSUN PLANDI, MERTOYUDAN, MAGELANG

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi minat ibu-ibu muda yang memiliki anak usia sekolah dalam mengikuti kegiatan majelis taklim di Dusun Plandi, Kecamatan Mertoyudan, Kabupaten Magelang. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya partisipasi ibu muda dalam pengajian, padahal peran mereka sebagai pendidik utama di rumah sangat strategis dalam pembentukan nilai keagamaan anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam terhadap 15 responden dan observasi lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hanya sebagian kecil ibu muda yang rutin mengikuti majelis taklim, sementara sebagian besar lainnya tidak terlibat secara aktif. Alasan utama ketidakterlibatan mereka antara lain tema pengajian yang kurang relevan dan monoton, beban pengasuhan anak, kelelahan setelah bekerja, serta kurangnya informasi mengenai jadwal kegiatan. Selain itu, beberapa ibu juga belum merasakan urgensi atau manfaat yang signifikan dari pengajian, sehingga belum muncul dorongan kuat untuk ikut serta. Di sisi lain, ibu-ibu yang rutin hadir dalam pengajian merasakan dampak positif dalam bentuk peningkatan wawasan keagamaan dan dukungan terhadap praktik pengasuhan Islami. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya inovasi dalam pelaksanaan majelis taklim agar lebih kontekstual, relevan, dan ramah bagi ibu-ibu muda, sehingga mampu mengoptimalkan peran pengajian sebagai ruang pembinaan keagamaan sekaligus penguatan peran keibuan dalam keluarga

    MEMBERDAYAKAN KETERAMPILAN MENGANALISIS ARTIKEL ILMIAH BAGI GURU-GURU IPA DI KABUPATEN TUBAN BERBASIS PELATIHAN

    Guru profesional dituntut untuk  menulis ilmiah agar dapat dipublikasikan pada tingkat nasional. Menulis ilmiah dapat menjadikan guru lebih  kompeten sehingga mampu memenuhi tuntutan masyarakat. Namun banyak kendala bagi guru  untuk menulis ilmiah. Salah satunya belum terbiasa mengambil inti sari dari artikel ilmiah. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut maka perlu  diadakan pelatihan dengan tujuan melatih guru-guru IPA di kabupaten Tuban dalam menganalisis artikel ilmiah sebagai materi untuk penyusunan artikel ilmiah yang akan dipublikasikan. Adapun metode yang digunakan sebagai berikut: 1) sosialisasi, bertujuan memberikan pengetahuan  menganalisis artikel ilmiah  sebagai materi dalam penulisan artikel ilmiah untuk dipublikasikan, metode yang digunakan ceramah. 2) praktek, bertujuan memberikan keterampilan menganalisis artikel ilmiah sebagai materi dalam penulisan artikel ilmiah untuk publikasi, metode yang digunakan demontrasi dan praktek. Di akhir pelatihan, peserta membuat laporan analisis artikel ilmiah  dari jurnal terakreditasi nasional maupun  internasional tereputasi. Hasil penilaian laporan dan penyebaran angket terhadap peserta pelatihan  menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap  peserta pelatihan dalam hal literasi ilmiah, tool yang mendukung, serta sikap  terhadap kegiatan analisis artikel ilmiah rata-rata mendapatkan skor baik. Adapun kesimpulan dari kegiatan pelatihan adalah sebagai berikut:1) pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru-guru IPA dalam menganalisis artikel ilmiah hasilnya termasuk katagori baik. 2) pelatihan membantu mengenalkan cara memanfaatkann artikel ilmiah sebagai materi  penulisan artikel ilmiah untuk publikasi  secara cepat, efisien, dan efektif. Temuan utama dari pelatihan ini adanya peningkatan dalam memahami struktur, isi, dan kualitas artikel ilmiah dari guru-guru IPA. Adapun implikasi kegiatan pelatihan ini bisa dijadikan program berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi literasi ilmiah guru, terutama dalam mendukung pelaksanaan pembelajaran berbasis riset

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh debt to equty ratio dan total asset turnover terhadap profitabilitas pada perusahaan consumer non-cyclicals yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia tahun 2019-2023. Proses pemilihan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling, yaitu metode pemilihan sampel berdasarkan kriteria-kriteria tertentu yang di anggap relevan dan sesuai dengan tujian penelitian, sehingga dari total 130 perusahaan yang termasuk dalam sektor consumer non-cyclicals di BEI, diperoleh sebanyak 37 perusahaan yang memenuhi kriteria yang ditentukan. Deangan melakukan pengamatan 5 tahun berturu-turut, penelitian ini berhasil mengumpulkan sebanyak 185 data observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan regresi linear berganda, yang diolah menggunakan alat SPSS26. Hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa 1). bahwa Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) berpengaruh secara negatif dan siginikan terhadap Profitabilitas pada perusahaan Cnsumer non-cyclicals yang terdaftar di BEI 2019-2023 yaitu   sebesar -0.537 atau sebesar -53,7%.  2). Total Asset Turnover (TATO) memiliki pengaruh secara positif dan signifikan terhadap profitabilitas pada perusahan Consumer non-Cylicals yang terdafra di BEI tahun 2019-2023. Yaitu sebesar 0.218 atau sebesar 21%. 3). Debt to Equity Ratio dan Total Asset Turnover secara bersama-sama (simultan) memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap profitabilitas pada perusahaan Consumer Non-Cyclicals yang terdaftar di BEI 2019-2023, hal ini dibuktikan dari hasil uji F (simultan) diperoleh nilai nilai Fhitung > Ftabel  (36. 138 > 2.42) dan signifikan lebih kecil dari 5% (0.000 < 0.05)

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII-D SMP Negeri 5 Tuban melalui model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan media audio visual. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Hasil penelitian menunjukan pada siklus I aktivitas guru 48%, keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa 34,58%, dan respon siswa 63,2%. Pada siklus II aktivitas guru 62%, keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa 63,64%, dan respon siswa 76%. Sedangkan pada siklus III aktivitas guru 88%, keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa 86,87%, dan respon siswa 94%. Dengan demikian, penerapan model PBL dan media audio visual terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran IPS. Model ini direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan secara berkelanjutan guna menciptakan pembelajaran yang aktif, menarik, dan bermakna

    FLANDERS’ INTERACTION ANALYSIS CATEGORIES (FIAC) IN ENGLISH FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSROOM

    This study aims to find out which teacher talk or student talk is more dominant. This study employed a qualitative methodology, in which the researcher presented the findings in a table and explained them. Researchers analyzed all types of classroom interaction using Flanders\u27 Interaction Analysis Categories (FIAC) namely teacher and student talk. In the Teacher talk there is direct influence (lectures, giving directions, criticizing or justifying authority) and indirect influence (accepting feelings, appraising or encouraging, accepting or using students\u27 ideas, and asking questions). Meanwhile in student talk there is student talk response, initiation, and silence or confusion. The data were taken from the observations of researchers of tenth grade at MA Sunan Bonang Jombang. The finding showed that the researchers found 56% of the teacher talk and what dominated was asking questions of indirect influence by 36%. In student talk, the data obtained was 44% and the one with the highest percentage, namely student talk response, was 23%. This demonstrates the students’ active engagement with the teacher’s discourse. The results of this study show that teacher talk is more dominant than student talk. The research findings indicate that during English classes at MA Sunan Bonang, when utilizing FIAC (Flanders Interaction Analysis Categories), the teacher frequently engages the students by posing questions. Moreover, the students actively participate and provide responses to each of these questions posed by the teacher

    Artificial Intelligence as a Supporting Tool for Basic Computer Programming Learning

      The use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to support basic computer programming learning is reviewed in this article, with a particular emphasis on ChatGPT (Generative Pre-Training Transformer), a text-based AI system that enables conversational interaction through text input on application prompts. The most widely used computer programming language is C. The literature study method, which entails a thorough examination of the literature or references, is employed in this study. The initial steps in using ChatGPT are to show the program coding, provide an explanation of the program coding, and show the outcomes of the program running. ChatGPT can quickly and efficiently provide detailed, well-organized responses to all of the inquiries posed by users. so that before the user writes the code on their own, they can clearly see how the program is being coded and what happens when it runs. Since beginning learners are not yet accustomed to using programming languages, especially C, it is envisaged that the research conducted will be able to advise and enlighten users on learning programming languages in depth through the use of AI

    Language as a Character Education Tool: An Exploration of Innovative Learning Practices in Indonesia

    This research aims to deepen the understanding of the role of language as a tool for character education in the Indonesian educational context, particularly through the exploration of innovative learning practices implemented in various schools. The study investigates how language is used as a medium to instill essential character values, such as integrity, empathy and collaboration among students. To achieve this objective, the research adopted a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving direct observation and in-depth interviews with teachers, students, as well as content analysis of learning materials in five selected primary schools in Indonesia. These schools were chosen for their uniqueness and success in integrating language approaches in their character education curriculum. The results of this study show that the strategic use of language in the learning process can enhance the internalization of character values by students. In addition, this study also revealed that teachers play a key role in facilitating and directing language interactions that support character learning. The conclusion of this study confirms that language is a powerful tool for character education provided it is combined with appropriate learning methods and adequate curriculum support

    Exploration of Environmental Literacy for Prospective Biology Teachers to Support the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals

    Environmental literacy is one of the important aspects in education, especially for prospective student teachers, because it has an important role in shaping attitudes and behaviours that are responsible for the environment in future generations. The purpose of this study was to identify the environmental literacy of prospective biology teachers. The type of research used is descriptive. The subjects of this study were 30 biology education students. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire of environmental literacy and knowledge about the environment. The data obtained was then analysed descriptively qualitative. The results showed that students had environmental knowledge with a very high category of 4.3 and the lowest was 2.4 in the moderate category. The attitudes and environmental awareness of prospective biology teachers are in the high category with a percentage of 98.8%. This means that prospective biology teachers at PGRI Ronggolawe University Tuban have high environmental literacy

    Politeness Strategies Used in Job Interview

    This study investigates the politeness strategies used in job interviews to understand their role in maintaining positive social relationships and minimizing face-threatening acts. Job interviews are critical in the hiring process, and effective communication is essential for both interviewers and interviewees. Building on Kasper\u27s (1990) concept of politeness strategies, the research identifies and categorizes these strategies within the context of job interviews. Using qualitative analysis, a YouTube job interview video was transcribed and examined to identify instances of positive politeness, indirectness, and other relevant strategies. Findings reveal that both interviewers and interviewees employ various politeness strategies to create a friendly, respectful atmosphere, thereby enhancing the overall interview experience. For job seekers, these strategies can increase the likelihood of a positive outcome, while for interviewers, they facilitate more effective evaluations of candidates. This research contributes to the broader understanding of interpersonal communication in professional settings, offering practical insights for improving job interview interactions and reducing workplace stress. &nbsp
