Struktur Fonologis Nama Orang Minangkabau
Full text linkName of the Minangkabaunese has its own characteristics which can be recognized through the phonological structure. This article describes the number of word length Minangkabau name, the number of syllables, and the nature of each syllable of the name. There are three methods and research techniques used in this study: providing data, data analysis, and presentation of analysis results. Based on the number, the phonological structures of the Minangkabaunese names have two tendencies. First, people over 43 years old tend to consist of 1 (one) word name. In contrast, less than 44 years old tend to consist of two words name. Based on the number of syllables, the Minangkabaunese names also have two tendencies. First, over 43 years old the name tends to consist of three (3) syllables followed by a name consisting of 2 (two) syllables. The name of the Minangkabau people under 44 years are more varied, there consist of 2 to 5 syllables, some of them consisting of 6 to 7 syllables. Furthermore, the long name is not found Minangkabau consisting of one syllable and exceeds 7 syllables. Finally, based on the nature, there are two properties of syllables in the Minangkabaunese name which are closed syllables and open syllables

This article describe research result of metaphoric languages style and content analysis of Syair Nazam Usiat. The result shows that this manuscript use metaphor, simile, and unique diction. Otherwise, this text tells about Adam and Eve story, heaven and hell, and several advices in controlling lust. Â

No full textThis article describes sosioculture context in traditional medicines in Surau Terekat Syattariyah manuscript collections. Those objects were analyzed with philology and ethnomedicine approach. The results show that Pariangan population has health and disease context. This society also believes that diseases were caused by spirits interferences besides by physical causes. Otherwise, traditional medicine in Pariangan can not be separated from religion and magic. This also suggests the combination of tarekat and tradition. Â

No full textMusik tradisional Talempong Batuang merupakan salah satu manifestasi budaya dari masyarakat dusun Sungai Cocang, Silungkang Oso, Kota Sawah Lunto. Permainan talempong ini dilakukan secara tunggal dan ensambel. Alat musiknya hanya terdiri dari satu ruas bambu betung yang dicongkel kulit sembilunya sebagai tali (snar) yang pangkal ruas dan ujung ruasnya diberi kuda-kuda sehingga berdengung ketika dipukul. Karakter bunyi alat musik Talempong Batuang yang lembut dan melodinya yang sederhana telah memberi sugesti kedamaian terhadap perasaan penikmatnya.Repertoar lagu yang dimainkan berasal dari melodi dendang-dendang khas dusun Sungai Cocang, Silungkang Oso yang dimelodikan menurut karakter khas Talempong Batuang, sehingga melodi-melodi yang dimainkan selalu mendapat sambutan dari masyarakatnya, dan dibutuhkan sebagai hiburan pada berbagai konteks upacara yang dimiliki masyarakatnya, seperti memeriahkan upacara helat perkawinan, kegiatan sosial masyarakat, hiburan bakongsi (kelompok kerja) ke ladang atau sawah, serta hiburan keluarga (pribadi) di rumah masing-masing.Kespesifikan yang dikandung musik Talempong Batuang ini telah mengundang daya tarik tersendiri, baik dari segi organologis, maupun sistem permainan. Di samping itu, masalah pengembangan-pengembangan konsep komposisi musiknya, dan masalah sosial antropologis masyarakat pendukungnya juga mendapat porsi yang selayaknya untuk mampu menyongsong suasana kehidupan masyarakat kampung di masa kini
