Amizade como categoria teológica
Friendship is a universal and proper phenomenon of the human condition that is born of the free offer of oneself to launch itself into the mystery of the other. Through it, the men become capable of finding a way to their humanization. This article portrays the role of friendship, especially in the digital age and the ways that Christians must go through to reach their identity in this relevant mean of communication, that overcomes the distance to allow the encounter. However, this technology never determines a society, it is what makes its choices.
The deployment of digital technologies continues to lead us to a real upheaval in our ways of thinking, communicating, forming, transmitting the faith and evangelising. It is a kind of “digital ecosystem” that they establish. Catechesis is not exempt from this. The contribution considers seven main challenges that a “holistic e-catechesis” seeks to address in the age of “digital ecologies”, due to changes in our relationships with knowledge, truth, temporality, authority, spiritual experience, pedagogy of initiation and community. We are urged to develop hybrid forms of combination between face-to-face and online catechesis, because given the law of “synesthetic” incarnation at the heart of the Christian faith, the all-digital approach remains an illusion.C’est à un véritable bouleversement dans nos manières de penser, de communiquer, de former, de transmettre la foi et d’évangéliser, que le déploiement des technologies du numérique continue de nous conduire.
Making paradise: The Island of Demons (1933) by Friedrich Dalsheim
The present article discusses visual anthropology, otherness and documentary practice as research by the example of the cultural film THE ISLAND OF DEMONS (1933) directed by German filmmaker and ethnologist Friedrich Dalsheim (1895-1936). THE ISLAND OF DEMONS was shot on Bali in 1931/32, at a time when Bali, belonging to the Dutch East Indies, the Dutch colonial empire, was perceived as the newly discovered „last paradise“ and due to the presence of the painter, musician and bohemian Walter Spies (1895-1942) mutated into the most popular escapist island among Western artists including Vicki Baum and Charlie Chaplin. Until today, THE ISLAND OF DEMONS is a unique ethnographic and historic document of Balinese culture, its village community life in harmony with nature, its rituals, beliefs, music and above all its cultural dances such as the famous Kecak dance, the Sanghyang Dedari and Legong dance as well as an extraordinary study of documentary practice in the realm of documentary and feature film since Dalsheim and his team did not come to Bali with a developed or „Europeanized“ or „Americanized“ screenplay, but developed it only on location with the Balinese village elders and community after months of discussions and ethnographic field research
This article deals with the architectural and artistic fruits promoted by the agrarian colonization policies in Spain and Portugal between the 1930s and 1970s. Despite the great differences found between the two Iberian countries, we focus on a limited selection of the two Portuguese cases with plastic works, their relationship with homonymous cases of fresco painting of sacred iconography in Spain, the adaptation of religious architectural typologies to the geographical environment and the significance of art as a conciliatory, moralizing and harmonious balm in the rural societies of Montijo (Setúbal) and Cilanco (Albacete). In this way, it also aims to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the INC and JCI staff with the collaboration of the artists Manuel Rivera Hernández, Artur Mendes de Sousa Bual and Severo Portela Júnior.
Writing this text, we are motivated only by the need to provide a contribution to the case study of a company which, despite all the difficulties (of a legal nature and of unfair competition from ex-founders) in which it has been involved, prides itself on having "coherence, consistency and with the necessary flexibility and reactivity” (Moscovici, 1976), followed the best strategic recommendations. To put it simply, management has made a careful and theoretically supported Strategic Human Resource Management (GERH). Management has been based on the teachings of reference authors, from Prof. Henri Mintzberg to entrepreneur Steve Jobs, although ILCN, Lda is no more than a small Portuguese health organisation. In fact, Mintzberg (2015) took, in the late 1990s, the idea that public health organisations should be freed from the vices of bureaucratic (or bureaucratic-professional) management, without granting the power of control to the technical-clinical staff; about private organisations, according to the same author, they should free themselves from the tendency to implement a hierarchical-patronal type of leadership. As for the former Apple leader, in a document drafted as a testament to the Company (he knew he would soon have to leave it, given his pancreatic cancer), he recommended an urgent reinvention of healthcare organisations. Health, together with education, should be thought of, in organizational terms, as the true treasure that determines the future of Humanity. Health and education would be, thus, Apple\u27s future priority areas of investment, so that this reinvention, according to S. Jobs7, would necessarily involve a massive investment in intangible assets, more than in tangible ones. It is, therefore, about writing about the qualification of intangible assets and the attempt of its quantification, applied to the case of a company in the neurological health area.
The reception and implementation of the Portuguese legal system of the pronouncements, and recommendations, of the United Nations Committees, since the Portuguese State is part of numerous optional Protocols that recognize the quasi-jurisdictional competences to receive and appreciate the communications presented by victims of violations of rights recognized by international human rights treaties. The implementation of the recommendations within the scope of these Protocols is not well known at the doctrinal and jurisprudential level in Portugal.
Raising the megaphones high: will children’s voice for the climate reach the critical threshold for political action?
The emergence of local and transnational social movements in the past four-five years shows that children and young people across the world are increasingly expressing their appeal to be heard, to exercise their broadly conceived citizenship rights, and to act on the new obligations and responsibilities linked to climate change to protect, respect and fulfil the rights of fellow citizens within the national State as well as those of distant others and non-human living beings. While the initial enthusiasm of policy-makers to involve children (people under 18 years) in global climate change governance has gradually faded away, the grassroots activism and social movements of the youth emerged parallel to the upsurge of climate change litigation worldwide where children and young adults are increasingly involved as legal actors. This article presents a socio- -legal approach to environmental citizenship practices, such as public participation of children (people under the age of 18 years) in climate change matters but it also provides a critical approach to how environmental citizenship is perceived by decision-makers and young people themselves. The article concludes that although children find ways to use their agency, they do not necessarily view themselves as full citizens vis-à-vis adults: without the adequate and sufficient power and means to achieve their goals all alone, their efforts demand legal, political and social support
\u27Our Families\u27 by Marta Pinto: An Audiovisual Essay on \u27A Portuguese Farewell\u27 and \u27Tokyo Story\u27
Marta Pinto’s audiovisual essay on Tokyo Story (1953) and A Portuguese Farewell (1985), two central works in the filmography of Yasujirō Ozu and João Botelho, evinces the influence the 1953 film had on the Portuguese director. However, more interestingly the essay shows the extent to which both works differ in their approach to war. Not only are the plots in the two films presented in distinct perspectives but their formal modes are dissimilar despite the affiliation assumed by João Botelho. A reading of those differences, underlined by formal aspects of the visual essay, considers also the role of spectators in the complex relationship between cinema and the recent history of a nation
