Anastasius of Sinai and His Participation in the Monothelite Controversy
Anastasius of Sinai was one of the most creative theologians in the period when Late Antiquity was transforming to the Middle Ages. His passionate rhetoric targeted the Christological unorthodoxies of his time, primarily Monenergism and Monothelitism. In his polemics against these doctrines, Anastasius creatively elaborated on the arguments of his predecessors. He developed a complex, and sometimes surprising, taxonomy of Christ’s activities and volitions. This taxonomy included mixed human-divine, pure divine, and pure human energeiai and wills, which, to Anastasius, proved duality of Jesus Christ

Sumud in Sweden : A key for meaning when the motherland is under occupation
This thesis aims to analyse sumud and its importance for Palestinians today living in Sweden. The theory of logotherapy, developed by Viktor Frankl, is used as a tool to unfold how sumud has become the bearer of identity and to response to the search of a meaningful life, in despite of injustices from the occupation. Through semi-structured interviews, nine respondents have shared their thoughts about sumud while living in a Swedish context. According to the result of the study, the meaning has been found to be central within sumud. For Palestinians living in Sweden it seems that sumud has developed from being seen as a constant when staying in Palestine to something that outside Palestine also expresses economical support, the possibility of returning and the importance of increasing awareness of the occupation. Suffering is transformed into responsibility and faithfulness towards the Palestinian community and a power to live not only for one’s self. Actions in combination with the Palestinian essence of how to be human become identity builders. Despite a lack of hope for peace among the respondents, by sumud it is possible to create meaningfulness also from a distance. The study shows that sumud for Palestinians in exile has turned out to be the key to maintain a joint responsibility for the motherland
Preaching Community in an Individualistic Culture : Three Case Studies on the Ecclesiology that is Preached to Youth at the Hönökonferensen
This study is a hermeneutical analysis with the aim to theoretically and theologically understand what is preached about the church to youth today and how youth is motivated to join the church. The study contains three case studies from Hönökonferensen and through Taylor, Camnerin and the Theological Framework of the Uniting Church in Sweden a few understandings of the church emerge: the church is a warm, welcoming and transforming community, it can prevent individualism, heal, and make believers, but it can also be filled with demands. The study discusses authenticity as an important concept along with different understandings about community
The limit of thinking
1979: a Year of the Child, but Not of Children’s Human Rights
This article explores the diplomatic contestations over children’s rights in connection to the International Year of the Child (iyc) of 1979. At the time, the Year was celebrated as an outstanding success, an event which helped to heighten social and political awareness of the status of children in both developing and industrialized countries, and which brought to light a plethora of new global issues, including street children, children with disabilities and children in armed conflict. Today, the iyc is frequently reduced to a plotting point in histories charting the rise of an international discourse of children’s rights, a discourse that is intimately linked to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989. This article shows how the concept of children’s rights was of peripheral importance to the overarching purposes of the iyc, which instead revolved around a notion of child welfare as integral to wider projects of social and economic development, either in the form of economic sovereignty or basic needs. The article then revisits the 1978–1979 UN debates on a human rights treaty for children, showing how this project initially garnered minimal support among states, international agencies and non-state actors. The article thus takes issue with teleological accounts that see the iyc primarily as a first step toward the subsequent breakthrough of children’s human rights. It also showcases how historical case studies of UN observances can be fruitful for scholars interested in the clashes and amalgamations of competing concepts and projects at an international level

Patristics and Sociolinguistics
The paper suggests a new hermeneutical take on receptive patristics. Receptive patristics means here the ways in which patristic texts are perceived in the community of patristic scholars and in ecclesiastical communities. The perceptions of the patristic materials that these two kinds of communities demonstrate are not always convergent. Their divergence can be explained on the basis of the distinction between normative linguistics and sociolinguistics. Ecclesiastical communities tend to treat the language of the Fathers and Mothers of the church in coherence with the way in which the proponents of normative linguistics treat the phenomenon of language. Patristic scholars, in contrast, usually treat them along the line of sociolinguistics. The approach to the language, which is applied by sociolinguistics, if adopted by ecclesiastical communities, could lead to a better understanding between them. It could foster the ecumenical rapprochement between confessional traditions, especially if they are based on patristic identities, such as in the case of Byzantine and Oriental churches. The academic method of sociolinguistics, thus, can be applied to the ecumenical studies and can positively contribute to practical ecumenism
The angel of the Lord and the angels of God : A comparative study of the angel/angels presentation, function and character in the light of Genesis 16:7-16, 22:1-19, 28:10-22
This study aims to investigate the relationship between Genesis 16:7-16, 22:1-19, 28:10-22 by a comparative analysis of the angel (or the angels) according to their presentation, function and character. The conclusion to be drawn is how there are marked differences but also prominent similarities between the different narratives. The stories can also be interpreted in the light of each other, upon which Genesis 28 can function as a key to understand the angel's potential for placement, both earthly and heavenly. It also appears that the angel concretises the word of God and/or the relationship to God. This is done by the angel's revelation by serving and executing the will of God.
