Does the total number of technical actions in floorball depend on the rink size for girls in different age groups?
Aim The aim of the study was to investigate how different types of small-sided games (SSG) for girls in the ages between 12–21 years and how it affects the number of technical actions. How does the number of the total technical actions affect based on different types of small-sided games among girls in floorball and wich technical action differ? Method The Swedish floorball federation recruited one association with three different types of teams, younger red-level, older red-level and black level were the number of participants amounted to 39 outfield players and seven goalies with varied experience of exercise within the game of floorball. Data collection happened under respective teams ordinary training times where four different game forms of SSG were filmed. Each team was recorded one time in each gameform and each player got six shifts in each SSG and the shift length was one minute. Then the collected data from the video analysis was determined into an excel document and from that we put in the data in jamovi to analyze it and to see if there were any significance between the groups. Result There was no significant difference between the groups in the total amount of technical actions. The study shows that younger red has the most technical actions in 5 vs 5. The study also shows that red older has the most technical actions in 4 vs 4. In black level arose thegreatest number of technical actions in 3 vs 3. Conclusion The study will not be generalizable because of a low number of participants and no significance was reached which also previous research indicates. The conclusion of the study was that two age groups generated the most total number of technical actions in SSG while one age group generated the most total number of technical actions in a full-sized rink. The authors see trends on SSG produce more technical actions compared to a full-sized rink. More research is needed around SSG in floorball to see if this is the case.
Aim The purpose of this study is to get an insight into how boys' soccer academies work to develop their players aged 14-19 years, focusing on how the coaches plan, what exercises they use and how they work with goal setting. Our questions are as follows: - How do football academies develop their players aged 14-19 years? - What forms of exercises and training arrangements do the trainers use and why? Method The study uses a qualitative method to collect information and to be able to answer the purpose and the questions. Three academy coaches from different clubs chose to participate. The study is based on the socio-cultural perspective on the learning. Results The results showed that periodization over a short period of time is used, as each week is worth the same amount. However, in the weekly cycles, periodization is used and a peak of form until match day takes place. During the exercises, SSG (small sided games) and other forms of exercises with active opponents are used very often. Goal formulation takes place both as a team and individually. There are three individual meetings between each player and the coach, where they discuss, how the player should develop. Conclusions The conclusion is that there are clear similarities and differences between how different football academy coaches plan the training and how they work with it. According to the academy coaches, it is important to have a development plan and that the players should be well rested on match days
Explicit and implicit weight bias among health care students : a cross-sectional study of 39 Australian universities.
BACKGROUND: Weight bias exhibited by health care students may continue into their future practice, compromising the provision of care that people living with overweight or obesity receive. This highlights the need to comprehensively examine the extent to which weight bias is present among health care students and the factors that may be associated with students' weight bias. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, Australian university students enrolled in health care courses were invited via social media advertisements, snowball and convenience sampling, and by making direct contact with universities to complete an online survey. Students provided demographic information including discipline of study, perceived weight status, and state of residence. Students then completed several measures which assessed their explicit and implicit weight bias, and empathy. Descriptive statistics established the presence of explicit and implicit weight bias, and ANCOVAs, ANOVA, and multiple regression analyses were conducted to examine the potential factors associated with students' exhibited weight bias. FINDINGS: Between March 08, 2022, and March 15, 2022, 900 eligible health care students attending 39 Australian universities participated in the study. Students reported varying levels of explicit and implicit weight bias, with minimal differences between disciplines on most outcome measures. Students who identified as men (vs. women) exhibited higher of both explicit and implicit bias (Beliefs About Obese Persons (BAOP): p = 0.0002, Antifat Attitudes Questionnaire (AFA)-Dislike: p = 0.019, AFA Willpower p < 0.0001, Empathy for Obese Patients: p = 0.0011, Implicit Association Test: p = 0.022), and students who displayed greater (vs. less) empathic concern exhibited lower levels of explicit bias (BAOP, AFA Dislike and Willpower, and Empathy for Obese Patients: p < 0.0001). Having witnessed the enactment of weight stigma sporadically (vs. regularly) by role models was associated with greater attribution of the causes of obesity to willpower (a few times a month vs. daily: p = 0.020, a few times a year vs. daily: p = 0.022), and less time spent with people living with overweight or obesity outside of study was associated with more dislike (a few times a month vs. daily: p = 0.0048, once a month vs. daily: p = 0.0002) and less fear of fat (once a month vs. daily: p = 0.036, and once a month vs. a few times a week: p = 0.0028). INTERPRETATION: Results demonstrate the presence of both explicit and implicit weight bias among Australian health care students. Several characteristics and experiences of students were associated with their weight bias. Validity of the exhibited weight bias should be established in practical interactions with people living with overweight or obesity and novel interventions should be developed to ameliorate weight bias. Mental health profiles among 13-16-year-Old Norwegian talent and mainstream students - A prospective person-centered analytical approach
Objectives: To contribute further knowledge about symptoms of anxiety, depression, body concerns, and self-worth among young talent development (TD) and mainstream students by exploring the indicators within person combinations prospectively, aiming to identify distinct profiles. Methods: We included 946 students, n = 168 (45% girls) from three TD sports schools and one ballet class, n =778 (52% girls) from ten mainstream schools. All were 13–14 years at T1 and 15–16 years at T2. Descriptive statistics were examined via variable-centered approaches: ANOVA and cross-tabulations. Mental health profiles were explored via person-centered approaches: latent profile and latent transition analysis, including profile stability over two years and school type, gender, and perfectionism association with profiles. Results: TD girls’ and boys’ anxiety and depression scores did not differ, but girls reported more weight-shape concerns. Mainstream schoolgirls fared worse compared to all others. Four retained profiles (distressed-body concerned, dissatisfied, moderate mentally healthy, mentally healthy) showed distinct patterns of co-occurring anxiety, depression, weight-shape concerns, and self-worth. Profile stability was high overall (72–93%). The highest proportion of TD boys was in the mentally healthy, TD girls and mainstream boys in moderate, and mainstream girls within the dissatisfied profile. Noteworthy transitions: TD boys who transitioned were likely changing to healthier profiles and girls to unhealthier. Unhealthier profiles were associated with socially prescribed perfectionism. Conclusion: TD students fared relatively better than mainstream students. Still, considerable proportions of girls were identified in the unhealthiest profiles. These findings involving young TD and mainstream students propose a need for specific follow-up measures to promote mental health
Does teacher competence affect NIU students' motivation? : A quantitative study on the influencing factors of motivation
Aim and hypothesis The purpose of the studies was to examine the relationship between motivation and NIU team-sporting students' experience of the school's facilities, cooperation with club teams, the teacher's competence, the students' community and the students' individual development. This is to map and further develop the work of motivating NIU students to reach national elite level. To investigate the area, the hypotheses were set: 1. There is a relationship between NIU students' motivation on the one hand and the students' perception of the teacher's competence, coordination with club teams, the students' community, the individual's development, the school's facilities. 2. The relationship between teacher competence and NIU-students’ motivation is central and is not explained by the factors coordination with club teams, student community, individual development, or school facilities. Theory and method The study used a quantitative approach and questionnaires as a method to collect data. 167 team-sporting NIU students from four schools responded to the survey. The survey's questions aimed to investigate students' perceptions of motivation, teacher competence, individual development, community and facilities. Spearman's test and a multiple regression analysis were used to test the hypotheses. Results The result showed a positive correlation between motivation and teacher's competence, individual development, cooperation with the club team, facilities and community in the group. The teacher's competence was also important for motivation, when the multiple regression analysis took the other variables into account. Conclusions The conclusion that can be drawn from the results of the study is that the competence of the teacher, coordination with club teams, the community of the students, the development of the individual and the school's facilities have a positive relationship with the motivation of the NIU students. The teacher's competence seems to be particularly important for the students' motivation, while the connection facilities and community are also important for the students' motivation
Physical education, lifestyle habits and health : A kvantitative study of the relationship between participation in physical education classes and: physical activity, screen time, breakfast habits and drinking sweetened beverage.
Swedish children in elementary school are less physical active, and at the same time, the sedentary behavior in these group is rising. The Swedish Government of Public Health statethat only nine to 23% of children aged eleven to 15 reach the recommendation of 60 min physical activity per day. Sedentary behavior has been shown to increase the risk of overweight and obesity in children. 21% of six-year-olds in Sweden are considered overweight, and the proportions seems to increase with increasing weight. Physical educationan important piece of the puzzle to reach recommendations for those children with a high amount of sedentary behavior and too little physical activity during the day. Targeted interventions are required in order to reach out to these children, which in turn are based on mapping various parameters and connection factors linked to health and lifestyle. The aim ofthis study was to investigate weather participation in physical education co-varies with the health-related lifestyle habits: Drinking sweetened beverages, screen time, physical activity and breakfast habits. Data is collected through a questionnaire from the family program of the foundation “A Healthy Generation”. The respondents are children aged seven to ten years. The result shows that there seems to be a connection between drinking sweetened beverages several days a week and not participating in physical education classes (p< 0,05). The other parameters do not show significant relationships. When interpreting the results, it should be taken into account that the drop-out was relatively large. Further research is needed to comment on the directions of the relationship and to increase the generalizability
Preventing Disordered Eating in Teenage Ballet Students : Evaluation of DancExcellent, a Combined CBT and Nutrition Education Intervention.
BACKGROUND: Disordered eating (DE) behaviors are relatively common among high-level dancers, especially in classical ballet. At the same time, interventions aimed at reducing DE behaviors in this population are scarce. METHODS: An 8-week exploratory preventive intervention for DE behaviors was carried out in a high-level ballet school for 40 teenagers aged 12-15 years (77.5% female). Both risk factors (perfectionism) and potentially protective factors (self-esteem, self-compassion) for the development of DE behaviors were considered. The intervention was created specifically for this study and consisted of five cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) workshops and four nutrition workshops. Additional components included newsletters for pupils and educational sessions and social media interactions with staff and parents. The intervention comprised two phases (control and intervention periods), with students acting as their own controls. Standardized questionnaires were completed before and after both phases. RESULTS: Questionnaire results did not indicate any changes in reported perfectionism, self-esteem, or self-compassion, nor were symptoms of DE affected during either the control or intervention periods. CONCLUSIONS: The intervention did not yield any discernible impact. However, it was affected by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which limits our ability to draw conclusions about intervention effectiveness. Evaluations with pupils offer several considerations for future improvements

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate how physiotherapists in Sweden rehabilitate patients who has undergone an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Further, the purpose was to investigate whether there are differences in the practical implementation of rehabilitation depending on clinical characteristics among the physiotherapists. Method: The study was a descriptive, quantitative cross-sectional study with a qualitative component, where open-response questions were analyzed by using a qualitative content analysis. A survey was developed together with an expert group and was then sent to physiotherapists in Sweden with experience of anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation. In order to find out possible differences in the practice of the rehabilitation depending clinical characteristics among the physiotherapists, the Chi-square test was used. Results: The survey was answered by 146 physiotherapists. The practice mainly differs in terms of recommendations regarding gym-based training during the initial phase of rehabilitation, and regarding when balance-, coordination- and sport-specific training should be implemented. There are also different opinions concerning how, and when, exercises in open kinetic chain should be initiated. Physiotherapists treating higher volumes of anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions per year, and physiotherapists with specialist certification, appears to have more frequent visits from patients and use reliable and valid objective strength measures in a greater extent compared to physiotherapists treating lower volumes of patients and physiotherapists without specialist certification. Conclusion: The results of the present study show that physiotherapists in Sweden to a great extent practice rehabilitation after an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in a similar way. Although certain parts of the practical implementation differ among physiotherapists. These results indicate that the rehabilitation after an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is complex, and therefore varies among individuals.
