    No full text
Każda nowa technologia stawia przed organizacjami podobne pytania: jakie kluczowe czynniki decydują o sukcesie jej wdrożenia, jakie ryzyka i bariery temu towarzyszą, jak ocenić efektywność cyfrowej zmiany? Transformacja cyfrowa to proces złożony, wymagający integracji strategii, technologii i kompetencji organizacyjnych.

Coin finds from the area of Rozprza and Mierzyn

    No full text
The area of Rozprza and Mierzyn is known for intensive prehistoric and medieval settlements that are concentrated along the Luciąża River – a tributary of the Pilica River. Known prehistoric settlements and cemeteries, as well as sites from the Middle Ages, have been excavated since the 1960s. In addition, two hoards of coins, a hoard of bronze objects, and multiple coins from the modern period were discovered during archaeological excavations carried out in the discussed area. The hoard of coins from Mierzyn was accidentally unearthed in 1881 in a manor field and contained nearly 600 pieces of silver halfpence and denarii of King Casimir the Great, as well as coins of Czech and Hungarian kings. It was hidden in the 2nd half of the 14th century. The second discovery of silver coins was made in 1972 in Rozprza, when 90 coins originally placed in a leather sack were unearthed during construction work at 14 Rynek Street. These were e. g. coins of several Polish kings from 17-18th century. Further discoveries of coins were made in the area of Rozprza and Mierzyn both during archaeological watching briefs in Rozprza and Mierzyn. In terms of numismatic studies, another valuable source is the collection of silver denarii found in early medieval graves in the cemetery in Lubień. It is safe to assume that there are other hoards of coins hidden in the vicinity of the Luciąża River, which will see the light of day either during excavations or as a result of accidental discoveries.Stowarzyszenie Naukowe Archeologów Polskich, Oddział w Łodz

‘To persist in dialogue with doubt and the unknown...’ A new dimension of dance theatre based on the work of Crystal Pite and Kidd Pivot

    No full text
This article is an attempt to examine the phenomenon of Crystal Pite as an artist who, in close collaboration with Jonathon Young, creates performances for the Vancouver-based company Kidd Pivot, which contemporary critics have de-scribed as a hybrid that stretches the boundaries of theatre and dance, placing her among the most important representatives of contemporary dance theatre. Reconstructing Pite's artistic biography and emphasising its most important stages, as well as following the findings of the dancer and choreographer Robert Desrosiers and the literary critic and dance researcher Peter Dickinson, the au-thor analyses two of the three most recent artistic productions created by the Pite-Young duo for Kidd Pivot, which exemplify their shared fascination with narrative dance theatre and language as a system of signs, which in the creative process is ‘rewritten’ into a bodily dimension and choreography. All this, com-bined with the emotional layer of the Vancouver company's performances, cre-ates an innovative and unusual quality

Economic Effectiveness of Remote Work in Organizations of the Public Utility Sector

    No full text
In the recent years, remote work has become a response to the needs of modern economies where private and public institutions operate and create networks of connections. The public utility sector, which refers to an activity, good, or service that brings benefits or collective interests to the residents of a country, is among them. With the widespread use of remote work, there is a need to identify whether and under what conditions remote work is economically effective in public utility sector organizations. However, public utility sector organizations are in an extraordinary situation because their primary goal, the current and continued satisfaction of social needs, partly determines innovative behaviour. The absence of traditional market drivers, such as profit orientation and private ownership, hinders the ability of public utility sector organizations to adapt to changing conditions. As a result, implementing remote work effectively presents a significant challenge for these organizations. This study, therefore, focuses on evaluating the economic effectiveness of remote work within the public utility sector. In conclusion, even if remote work is a cost-effective method for public utility services and decreases indirect employee costs, it has yet to be incorporated successfully. The results indicate that the economic effectiveness of remote work falls short of the desired level. Therefore, public utility services need to strengthen infrastructure, innovate their remote systems, invest human capital and reorganize their strategies regarding allocating resources, technology and management categories to enhance economic effectiveness when operating remotely

Rozprza – archaeological research of the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum in Łódź (1963–1966)

    No full text
The Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Łódź under the direction of Aldona Chmielowska, an employee of the Department of the Middle Ages and Modern Periods, conducted excavations at the early medieval stronghold in Rozprza, Łódź voivodeship, and the surrounding area in the years 1963–1966. The main effort was directed at the identification of the defensive structures (state 1). As a result of the excavations, Aldona Chmielowska concluded that the stronghold functioned within a broad chronological framework between the 6th and 9th centuries. The archaeological material recovered during the excavations represents almost all categories of artefacts, ranging from pottery to militaria, objects of everyday use, as well as earthenware or iron finds. In 2013, as a result of the implementation of the scheme of non-invasive research of settlements in Central Poland within the framework of the “Protection of archaeological relics” programme coordinated by the National Heritage Institute, led by Jerzy Sikora, Piotr Kittel, and Piotr Wroniecki, the settlement site in Rozprza was re-investigated.Stowarzyszenie Naukowe Archeologów Polskich, Oddział w Łodz

Rooming flats: How financialisation-led densification is spurring inner-city studentification in Lodz, Poland

    No full text
University towns and cities face the need to accommodate sizeable student populations. Consequently, they are fertile grounds for housing financialisation and densification, and their neighbourhoods experience studentification. In this article, we consider the nexus of these three phenomena by investigating the production of ‘rooming flats’ in Lodz, Poland. Rooming flats are accommodations delivered usually through a profit-seeking conversion of conventional spacious flats in historic inner-city buildings into shared housing with multiple single-occupancy bedrooms for student rentals. We empirically illustrate the rooming flats in Lodz: their materialities, geographies, labelling and impacts on the inner city, as well as the rooming-flat business itself. In this way, we demonstrate the interplay of financialisation, densification and studentification and show how it contributes to the multifaceted change of the inner city in Lodz. This research was financed by the University of Lodz, Faculty of Economics and Sociology (grants B2111200002251.02 and B2211200002287.02)

Determinants of tourist attitudes toward local food and intentions to visit a destination: A case study from Iran

    No full text
This study examines the predictors of tourist attitudes towards local food along with intentions to visit a destination. This study is of great interest to research tourism in Iran. Specifically, it is the first to examine the impact of belief and familiarity as psychological factors on tourist attitudes towards local food and intentions to visit a destination. The sample consisted of 200 Iranian tourists visiting the city of Lahijan. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and structural equation modelling and the findings recognized familiarity as the most influential factor affecting attitudes toward local food, followed by epistemic, emotional, health and prestige value as well as food neophobia. However, interaction value, price and taste are not associated with attitudes towards local food. The article offers practical marketing strategies for tourism marketeers regarding the important determinants of intentions to visit a destination. This research can help authorities in charge of business promotion as to what is more likely to attract tourists and their use of tourism resources

Metaanaliza dla wsparcia teorii empirycznych w naukach o edukacji

    No full text
This article explores the role of meta-analysis and systematic review in developing and refining empirical theories in educational sciences. It highlights the method’s value in synthesizing research findings, identifying patterns, and improving the explanatory power and coherence of theories. It also underscores the skepticism present in academic circles, especially concerning meta-analysis. While meta-analysis is widely used in evidence-based approaches, its adoption in educational research sometimes remains locally limited due to concerns about data quality, methodological heterogeneity, publication bias, and perceived epistemic incompatibility with constructivist or interpretive paradigms. The author argues that these challenges can be addressed through methodological rigor, data transparency, proper contextualization, and interdisciplinary training in statistics, epistemology, and logic. Meta-analysis is presented not only as a statistical tool, but as a means of supporting intellectual inquiry and collaborative theory-building. The article calls for greater integration of meta-analytic methods into education research, emphasizing their potential to enhance the quality, comparability, and transparency of scientific knowledge.Artykuł analizuje rolę metaanalizy i systematycznego przeglądu literatury w rozwijaniu i doskonaleniu teorii empirycznych w naukach o edukacji.

Petrographic differentiation of Jurassic sandstones from the Jazia Góra near Opoczno, Central Poland

    No full text
This paper presents a petrographic analysis of sandstones from Jazia Góra in the Opoczno Hills. 34 sandstones samples in ten sites (I‒X) were taken, and a detailed geochemical analysis of these rocks was carried out, together with the documentation of palaeoripplemarks on the surfaces of fossiliferous beds. The results of the analyses of the elemental composition of the sandstones and the oxide content according to the 1988 Herron classification made it possible to distinguish: ferruginous sandstones, subarcosites, litharenites and sublitharenites. The geochemical and sedimentological characteristics may indicate that these sandstones were formed in the Jurassic shallow brackish sea, which enveloped the crystalline core of the Holy Cross Mountains from the northwest.W niniejszym artykule przeanalizowano pod kątem petrograficznym piaskowce z Jaziej Góry położonej na Wzgórzach Opoczyńskich.

A journalist as a YouTuber: About Polish sports vlogs

    No full text
The aim of the book is to characterize forms of dialogue in Polish videoblogs run by sports journalists on YouTube. The analysis allows answering the key question: How are the forms of dialogue used in Polish sports vlogs? The research material consists of 120 episodes taken from 6 sports videoblogs published on YouTube. They are: “KOstyra SE”, “Prawda Futbolu”, “Prawda Siatki”, “Polsport — Michał Pol”, “Tomasz Ćwiąkała” and “Foot Truck”. The forms of dialogue appearing in online videos are analyzed from the perspective of media linguistics. The book consists of 6 chapters. The first is methodological and introductory in nature to the contents of the work. The next three chapters, in which content of a theoretical nature is combined with own conclusions, are centered around several key words from the point of view of the research conducted. They are: new media, social media, social networking site (chapter two), dialogue (chapter three), blog, videoblog (chapter four). The author presents vlog as a genre in the form of a collection in chapter five. The chapter six is dedicated to the analysis of the dialogue structures revealed in the sports videoblogs, affecting the course of the exchange. The book shows the multidimensional nature of a new communication practice — videoblogging — which is currently an important element of Polish sports journalism. The results of analyses related to the use of audiovisual forms in sports journalism allow us to present the changes that are taking place not only in sports media discourse and the profession of sports journalism, but also in social media in general
