Inference of the Mass Composition of Cosmic Rays with Energies from 10[sup]18.5 to 10[sup]20 eV Using the Pierre Auger Observatory and Deep Learning
We present measurements of the atmospheric depth of the shower maximum Xmax,
inferred for the first time on an event-by-event level using the Surface Detector
of the Pierre Auger Observatory. Using deep learning, we were able to extend
measurements of the Xmax distributions up to energies of 100 EeV (10[sup]20 eV),
not yet revealed by current measurements, providing new insights into the mass
composition of cosmic rays at extreme energies.
Gaining a 10-fold increase in statistics compared to the Fluorescence Detector data,
we find evidence that the rate of change of the average Xmax with the logarithm
of energy features three breaks at 6.5 ± 0.6 (stat) ± 1 (sys) EeV,
11 ± 2 (stat) ± 1 (sys) EeV, and 31 ± 5 (stat) ± 3 (sys) EeV, in the vicinity to the three
prominent features (ankle, instep, suppression) of the cosmic-ray flux.
The energy evolution of the mean and standard deviation of the measured Xmax
distributions indicates that the mass composition becomes increasingly heavier
and purer, thus being incompatible with a large fraction of light nuclei between
50 EeV and 100 EeV

Razvoj molekularnih metod za celovito oceno stresnih dejavnikov pri gozdnih drevesnih vrstah
IZKORIŠČANJE UGODNOSTI OER-JEV ZA DOSTOPNOST, PROMOCIJO IN OHRANJANJE KNJIŽEVNOSTI NAMIBIJSKIH DOMORODNIH JEZIKOV OSHIWAMBO IN KHOEKHOEGOWAB (IL).
Namibia\u27s indigenous languages, particularly Oshiwambo and Khoekhoegowab, are at risk of extinction. To address this, the study explored the potential of Open Educational Resources (OERs) to increase the availability and accessibility of materials for these languages.
This systematic literature review revealed limited research on using OERs for indigenous language revitalization. It also came out that digitalization of ILs content and publications could not only increase accessibility but can also easily allow more derivatives of such materials to be further produced, more so when such content has been licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license. Content crowdsourcing initiatives were also identified as a strategy to accelerate content development and promote open access.
The study concluded that combining efforts for indigenous language revitalization with OER initiatives can significantly enhance efficiency. Recommendations include policy provisions for language revitalization, the establishment of indigenous language centers, and collaboration with technology companies, educational institutions, and libraries to leverage OER strategies for ILs revitalization.Namibijski avtohtoni jeziki, zlasti oshiwambo in khoekhoegowab, so v nevarnosti izumrtja. Da bi to rešili, je študija raziskala potencial odprtih izobraževalnih virov (OER) za povečanje razpoložljivosti in dostopnosti gradiva za te jezike.
Ta sistematični pregled literature je razkril omejene raziskave o uporabi OER za revitalizacijo avtohtonega jezika. Izkazalo se je tudi, da digitalizacija vsebine in publikacij ILs ne bi mogla le povečati dostopnosti, ampak lahko tudi enostavno omogoči nadaljnjo proizvodnjo več izpeljank takšnih materialov, še več, če je bila taka vsebina licencirana pod Creative Commons (CC-BY). Pobude za zbiranje vsebin so bile opredeljene tudi kot strategija za pospešitev razvoja vsebin in spodbujanje odprtega dostopa.
Študija je zaključila, da lahko združevanje prizadevanj za revitalizacijo avtohtonega jezika s pobudami OER znatno poveča učinkovitost. Priporočila vključujejo politične določbe za revitalizacijo jezika, ustanovitev centrov za avtohtone jezike in sodelovanje s tehnološkimi podjetji, izobraževalnimi ustanovami in knjižnicami za izkoriščanje strategij OER za revitalizacijo IL
Analysis of deficit occupations in the metalworking industry in Primorska and improvements in recruitment
Deficitarnost kadrov je v sodobni družbi odraz neravnovesja na trgu delovne sile. Vzroki za deficitarnost poklicev so v izobraževalnem in vzgojnem sistemu, gospodarski usmerjenosti države, promociji poklicev in poklicnih interesov, sistemu plač in nagrajevanja ter miselnosti ljudi in spremenljivosti trga dela. V magistrski nalogi smo se posvetili področju strukture poklicev v kovinskopredelovalni industriji in problematiki kadra na trgu dela in potreb v Goriški regiji, Obalno-kraški regiji ter Primorsko-notranjski regiji.
Z analizo problematike deficitarnih poklicev smo analizirali vplive in priložnost za reševanje problematike z vzpostavitvijo agencije za aktivno zaposlovanje deficitarnih poklicev v kovinskopredelovalni industriji. Uporabili smo analizi PEST in SWOT za oceno zunanjih in notranjih dejavnikov ter analizirali zaposlitvene potrebe in iskalce dela. Pri raziskovanju nam je bila v pomoč anketa, katere rezultati so bili obdelani z opisno statistiko in s korelacijsko analizo, pa tudi intervjuji, ki so omogočili dodaten vpogled z vidika delavcev.
Raziskava je pokazala, da je glavni razlog za pomanjkanje kvalificiranih delavcev neusklajenost izobraževalnega sistema s potrebami trga dela, poleg prilagoditve izobraževalnih programov pa je ključna tudi večja promocija poklicev kovinskopredelovalne industrije. Analiza je ovrgla domnevo, da so finančne spodbude glavni dejavnik za večje zanimanje za deficitarne poklice, in pokazala, da so pomembnejši dejavniki delovni pogoji, stabilnost zaposlitve in ugled poklica. Analiza je potrdila domnevo, da bi specializirana agencija za zaposlovanje s ciljnim iskanjem kadrov, dodatnimi usposabljanji in promocijo učinkovito reševala kadrovsko problematiko v kovinskopredelovalni industriji.In modern society, the shortage of personnel is a reflection of the imbalance in the labor market. The reasons for the shortage of professions are in the education and training system, the economic orientation of the country, the promotion of professions and professional interests, the system of wages and rewards, the mentality of people and the variability of the labor market. In the master\u27s thesis, we focused on the structure of professions in the metal processing industry and the issue of personnel in the labor market and needs in the Goriška, Obalno-kraška and Primorsko-notranjska region.
By analyzing the issue of labor shortages, we examined the impacts and opportunities for addressing the problem through the establishment of an agency specializing in the active employment of skilled workers in the metal-processing industry. For this purpose, we conducted a PEST and SWOT analysis to assess external and internal factors and analyzed employment needs and job seekers. The research was supported by a survey, with results processed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis, as well as interviews that provided additional insight from workers\u27 perspectives.
The study revealed that the main reason for the shortage of qualified workers is the misalignment between the education system and labor market needs. In addition to adapting educational programs, greater promotion of careers in the metal-processing industry is crucial. The analysis refuted the assumption that financial incentives are the primary factor in increasing interest in high-demand professions, showing that working conditions, job stability, and the reputation of the profession are more significant factors. Furthermore, the analysis confirmed that a specialized employment agency, through targeted recruitment, additional training, and career promotion, would effectively address workforce shortages in the metal-processing industry
