Securing IoT technologies for smart cities
No full textIn light of the technological developments in modern society, there has been a global shift toward digitizing many aspects and tasks in our cities, leading to the birth of the term "smart city" [1]. The goals behind this steady transition are multilateral. They include energy efficiency, net-zero policies, crisis management, waste management, transportation safety, building safety, citizen safety, and overall improvement in the quality of life.
Naturally though, achieving all the above requires the installation of a significant amount of sensors, and the transmission and processing of a tremendous amount of data. Thus, ensuring the safety of this data is essential to make smart cities secure against cyberattacks and data breaching [2]. See, for example, [3] for a holistic coverage on the topics of security and privacy IoT communications in smart cities. One way of achieving security is through the use of chaotic systems. They can be considered as an alternative encryption standard to achieve secure data transmission among devices. Chaotic encryption has gained popularity over the last 20 years, and many works have been developed for device security. In this chapter, the recent developments on the use of chaotic encryption for IoT security will be explored for different categories of IoT devices. Future challenges for the field will then be identified.
The rest of the chapter is structured as follows: Section 9.1 provides introductory information on the use of chaotic systems for security. Section 9.2 presents the recent developments in the use of chaotic systems in IoT security for different aspects of smart cities. Section 9.3 provides some observations based on the works that were covered. Section 9.4 discusses the future challenges that lie in the field. Finally, section 9.5 concludes the chapter with some final observations on the future progress of chaos in IoT security. Moreover, a table of abbreviations is included at the end of the chapter

ekokritičnega notranjega očesa kot feminističnega refleksa nad potrošniško obsedeno
egomanično puščavo. En festival, dva tedna skupne prisotnosti, štirje dnevi in noči druženj,
osem razstavnih prizorišč, šestnajst dogodkov. Vključno z vsemi vami lepimi ljudmi, drugimi
bitji in nebitji.
Algoritemska izolacija, prijetno heknjena v nasprotovanje tehno-fevdalnim
odnosom s samoizvoljenimi mirovniki. Souporaba odgovornosti za lokalno podnebje in
spodbujanje kolektivnega delovanja. Zdravljenje jaza vzgajanega iz helikopterja, spodbujanje
divje domišljije. Cona brez meja, ki bi rada živela izven omrežja, med Novo Gorico
in Gorico, med degradiranimi območji brez lokacij, rečnimi obalami, legendarnimi skvoti,
zasebnimi improviziranimi galerijami in (kmalu) kultnimi javnimi prostori.
Pozabite na spolirane bele kocke – tako ali tako se danes zdijo vse okrogle. Vrsta
radikalnih instalacij, drznih performansov, provokativnih delavnic in subtilnih participativnih
formatov, nahranijenih z lokalno hrano in vinom. Na Pixxelpointu 2025 resnični

European Capital of Culture, a composite reality of double periphery ideal for sharing
both an ecocritical inner eye and a feminist reflex over a consumerism-crazed egomaniac
wasteland. One festival, two weeks of shared presence, four days and nights of
gettogethers, eight exhibition venues, sixteen events. Including all of you beautiful
people and them other beings.
An algorithmic isolation pleasantly hacked to counter the technofeudal relationships
with self-chosen peace making kin. Share responsibility for local climates and
spark collective action. Heal the helicopter-parented self and seed wild imagination. A
wanna-be off-grid boorder-less zone, between Nova Gorica and Gorizia, among brownfield
nonlocations, riversides, legendary squats, private impromptu galleries and cult
public places.
