Investment eligibility for the placement of a modern technological system for the processing of the mineral raw material limestone and the storage of stone aggregates with quality improvement in the company Alpacem Kamnolomi, Solkan quarry unit
In the introductory part, the significance of obtaining construction raw materials in Slovenia is presented. The theoretical section continues with an introduction to the Alpacem Group, with a focus on the Slovenian market, particularly the Solkan quarry unit. An economic-analytical section is conducted, including a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA). In the conclusion, a multi-criteria analysis using DEXi is applied, with an emphasis on the economic aspect, technology, and environmental impacts
Emotions in Janko Kersnik\u27s Kmetske slike from the perspective of emotional literary studies
In master\u27s thesis, I will try to outline the theoretical background of emotional literary science. Literary theorists began to deal more deeply with the latter only in more modern times since emotions were neglected in the context of literary studies for a long time. In the second part of my master\u27s thesis, I will apply the findings of the theory to Janko Kersnik\u27s Kmetske slike from 1905, when they were collected and published together for the first time by Ivan Prijatelj. Before that, Kersnik had published short stories about peasant life in the Ljubljanski zvon for almost ten years between 1882 and 1891. Kmetske slike are the work of an earlier date, but they cover peasant material. They were created in the period of realism or between romanticism and realism, as we call this period in Slovenia. Therefore, it is not surprising that we do not find many complex representations of emotions or direct names of emotions, but rather the characters express their emotions to a greater extent through physical gestures, facial expressions, eyes... The latter is proven in the empirical part of the master\u27s thesis, while it has also been proven that the emotions of the male characters are more detailed or shown to a greater extent, while the emotions of female characters are presented to a more limited extent, and female characters are also more prone to crying, emotional outbursts and negative emotions in general
The decentralisation of European avant-gardism and the network of the Yugoslav avant-garde
S prikazom jugoslovanske avantgarde kot dinamičnega omrežja in z utemeljevanjem omrežnega pristopa članek prispeva k razširjanju razumevanja avantgarde onkraj zahodnocentrične perspektive ter odpira prostor za nadaljnje raziskave marginaliziranih ali manjšinskih umetniških praks, kar pluralizira podobo evropske modernostiThe article analyses the decentralisation of the European avant-garde canon by focusing on the Yugoslav avant-garde, presenting it as a polycentric and rhizomatic network of artistic practices. It introduces the transnational and network approaches and an interdisciplinary methodological framework that have contributed to reshaping the understanding of avant-garde movements. Central attention is given to key concepts and theories that support a rhizomatic approach to researching the avant-garde, with theoretical foundations highlighted through examples of Yugoslav Dadaism, Zenitism and Constructivism. Particular emphasis is placed on the concepts of “barbarogenius” and the “Balkanisation of Europe” as strategies of subverting imperial discourses, which are compared to the figure of the “cannibal” in the work of Latin American avant-gardist Oswald de Andrade. The article argues for a transnational reading of marginal avant-gardes, revealing global networks of resistance against Eurocentric narratives of modernity. By presenting the Yugoslav avant-garde as a dynamic network and grounding the network approach, the article contributes to broadening the understanding of the avant-garde beyond a Eurocentric perspective. It opens space for further research into marginalised or minor artistic practices, pluralising the image of European modernity
On the Effects of Parameters on Galaxy Properties in CAMELS and the Predictability of Omega_m
Abstract
Recent analyses of cosmological hydrodynamic simulations from CAMELS have shown that machine learning models can predict the parameter describing the total matter content of the universe, Ωm, from the features of a single galaxy. We investigate the statistical properties of two of these simulation suites, IllustrisTNG and ASTRID, confirming that Ωm induces a strong displacement on the distribution of galaxy features. We also observe that most other parameters have little to no effect on the distribution, except for the stellar-feedback parameter A
SN1, which introduces some near-degeneracies that can be broken with specific features. These two properties explain the predictability of Ωm. We use optimal transport to further measure the effect of parameters on the distribution of galaxy properties, which is found to be consistent with physical expectations. However, we observe discrepancies between the two simulation suites, both in the effect of Ωm on the galaxy properties and in the distributions themselves at identical parameter values. Thus, although Ωm’s signature can be easily detected within a given simulation suite using just a single galaxy, applying this result to real observational data may prove significantly more challenging
