No full textLa participación femenina en la generación y retroalimentación del sistema de las artes supone un interesante punto de partida para la investigación en Historia del Arte, en paralelo a la acción homóloga desde otros campos disciplinares. En el caso de la Historia de la Arquitectura, a pesar del rol desempeñado por este colectivo, la ausencia de mujeres en los procesos de construcción edilicia manifiesta, más que la inexistencia de esta práctica, la marginalidad con la que han sido abordados proyectos de estas féminas y sus trayectorias biográficas en el ámbito de la promoción y el mecenazgo. Para ejemplificar esta cuestión nos acercamos al convento de la Purísima Concepción de Lebrija (Sevilla) para analizar el papel de las mujeres como constructoras intelectuales y proveedoras materiales de este complejo arquitectónico durante la Edad Moderna.Female participation in the generation and feedback of the arts system represents an interesting starting point for research in Art History, in parallel to the homologous action from other disciplinary fields. In the case of the History of Architecture, despite the role played by this group, the absence of women in the building construction processes manifests, more than the nonexistence of this practice, the marginality with which these projects have been approached, these women and their biographical trajectories in the field of promotion and patronage. To exemplify this issue, we approach the convent of the Purísima Concepción in Lebrija (Seville) to analyze the role of women as intellectual builders and suppliers of materials for this architectural complex during the Modern Age.Área de Historia del Art
To What Extent Does ESG Performance Influence Board Engagement in Acquisition Activity?

Specifically, we posit that boards with directors who have been politicians positively influence the propensity to pursue acquisitions and that ESG performance (divided into environmental, social, and governance scores) moderates this relationship. Our results provide evidence of the positive influence of former politicians on acquisitions, suggesting that their political connections and their understanding of the regulatory landscape may mitigate the risks associated with acquisitions and enhance the likelihood of acquiring other firms. Our research also demonstrates the critical role of sustainable initiatives so that firms with strong ESG performance are better positioned to address the challenges associated with acquisitions. It may indicate that stakeholders—such as investors, customers, and communities—are more likely to support acquisitions by companies that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability practices. Therefore, our results have implications for the acquisitions' strategic management, highlighting the need for firms to carefully consider how their boards are composed. It is no longer sufficient to focus only on the skills and resources that directors bring to the firm (i.e., former politicians) but also to ensure that board members are aligned with the firm's ESG initiatives.Universidad Pablo de OlavideUniversidad de Cádi

No full textEn este artículo se explorará la función del letrado dentro del sistema penitenciario español, desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar, las normativas que regulan su actuación, y los derechos que le asisten, especialmente en lo relativo al acceso a la información, la comunicación con su cliente y la defensa en el contexto penitenciario. La ejecución de las penas y especialmente de aquellas que son privativas de libertad requieren una mirada crítica y garantista, que aborde las consecuencias del encierro, la gestión de la convivencia carcelaria, la resocialización del penado y el efectivo respeto a los derechos humanos en prisión. En todos estos aspectos, el abogado puede ser herramienta útil para asegurar la adecuada aplicación de la ley en beneficio de la persona que cumple su condena.This article will explore the role of the lawyer within the Spanish prison system, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the regulations that govern his performance, and the rights that assist him, especially with regard to access to information, communication with his client and defense in the prison context. The execution of sentences and especially of those that are deprived of liberty require a critical and protective view, which addresses the consequences of imprisonment, the management of prison coexistence, the re-socialization of the prisoner and the effective respect for human rights in prison. In all these aspects, the lawyer can be a useful tool to ensure the proper application of the law for the benefit of the person serving his sentence.Universidad Pablo de Olavid

No full textEl autor reflexiona sobre la situación agonizante en la que se encuentran inmersos
en nuestros días algunos derechos, especialmente los sociales y los relativos a la
protección internacional. Dicha situación todavía es más preocupante si se tienen
en cuenta recientes prácticas deshonestas vividas en el seno de las instancias
internacionales más emblemáticas que se ocupan de la garantía de tales derechos
(incluido el Comité Europeo de Derechos Sociales). Ahora bien, los peligros de
fragilización, e incluso de aniquilación, afectan al conjunto de derechos, pues los
derechos forman parte de un todo. En efecto, todos los derechos (también los civiles
y políticos) se ven sometidos a una especie de principio de contagio a causa de corrientes pensamiento hostiles al Estado de Derecho como exigencia axiológica de
orden internacional. En última instancia, dicho contagio tiene una proyección
negativa en el ámbito de la acción legislativa, gubernamental y judicial bajo la
apariencia y el pretexto de la lucha contra la delincuencia y otros riesgos globales,
afectando a personas en situaciones de vulnerabilidad (infancia, solicitantes de
asilo, etc.).The author reflects on the agonizing situation in which some rights are currently
immersed, especially social rights and those relating to international protection.
This situation is all the more worrying in the light of recent dishonest practices
within the most emblematic international bodies responsible for guaranteeing these
rights (including the European Committee of Social Rights). However, the dangers
of weakening, or even annihilation, affect all rights, because rights are part of a
whole. Indeed, all rights (including civil and political rights) are subject to a kind
of contagion principle due to currents of thought hostile to the rule of law as an
axiological requirement of the international order. Ultimately, this contagion has a
negative projection in the field of legislative, governmental and judicial action
under the guise and pretext of the fight against crime and other global risks,

DOC_00397The inherent ‘black box’ nature of deep learning models has hindered their widespread adoption in certain fields, as they provide limited transparency into the reasoning behind their predictions. In the last years, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques have proven to be effective not only in prediction itself but also in the extraction of meaningful knowledge from deep learning models by means of feature interpretation. In this study, Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations are applied to the prediction of CTCF binding sites, a common task in the field of genomics. Good prediction performances and inferred explanations are obtained that highlight the most informative features that contribute to predictions such as chromatin accessibility and cis-regulatory elements which align well with previously reported data. This work represents a proof of concept showing that XAI are suitable for the extraction of molecular insights from complex biological problems like CTCF binding prediction.Escuela Politécnica Superior. Constitutional court doctrine and supreme court jurisprudence on freedom of expression and dismissal of workers
No full textLa doctrina del Tribunal Constitucional y la jurisprudencia del Tribunal Supremo en materia de libertad de expresión y despido de trabajadores han establecido un marco normativo fundamental que protege derechos fundamentales en el ámbito laboral: así, y en primer lugar, el Tribunal Constitucional ha reconocido que la libertad de expresión es un derecho fundamental que no solo se aplica en el ámbito público sino que también se extiende al entorno laboral, siempre que la expresión no afecte gravemente la buena fe contractual; y en segundo término la jurisprudencia del Tribunal Supremo ha enfatizado que el despido de un trabajador por ejercer su derecho a la libre expresión puede considerarse nulo si se determina que dicho despido es desproporcionado, además de haber establecido que la justificación del despido debe ser rigurosamente analizada, considerando el contexto y el contenido de las manifestaciones realizadas por el trabajador. En conclusión, tanto el Tribunal Constitucional como el Tribunal Supremo han configurado un equilibrio entre los derechos de los trabajadores y las necesidades de las empresas, promoviendo un entorno donde la libertad de expresión se respete y, al mismo tiempo, se salvaguarde la convivencia en el ámbito laboral.The doctrine of the Constitutional Court and the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court in matters of freedom of expression and dismissal of workers have established a fundamental regulatory framework that protects fundamental rights in the workplace: firstly, the Constitutional Court has recognized that freedom of expression is a fundamental right that not only applies in the public sphere but also extends to the work environment, provided that the expression does not seriously affect contractual good faith; and secondly, the case law of the Supreme Court has emphasized that the dismissal of an employee for exercising his right to free speech can be considered null and void if it is determined that such dismissal is disproportionate, in addition to having established that the justification for the dismissal must be rigorously analysed, considering the context and content of the statements made by the employee. In conclusion, both the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court have struck a balance between the rights of workers and the needs of companies, promoting an environment where freedom of expression is respectedand, at the same time, coexistence in the workplace is safeguarded.Universidad Pablo de Olavid
Analysis of the impact of using a gamified App for spanish spelling practice in primary education
No full textThis work has been developed within the framework of the «Proof of Concept» Project entitled: «GAUBI-ORTO. Evaluation of a digital model and application for sustainable, ubiquitous and gamified learning of Spanish spelling in Primary Education» (PDC2022- 133185-I00). State Program to Promote Scientific-Technical Research and its Transfer, of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation. Ministry of Science and Innovation (Spain). Funded by the European Union-Next Generation EU.This study evaluates the impact of GAUBI, a gamified app designed for Spanish spellingpractice in primary education, using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with 114 fourth-grade students. Participants were divided into three groups: traditional methods (control group),app use in classrooms (experimental group 1), and app use at home (experimental group 2). The appfeatured levels of arcade, research, and interactive fiction gameplay, scaling cognitive challenges toenhance learning. The intervention spanned three weeks, with participants engaging in structuredapp-based or traditional spelling exercises. Results showed that the group using the app at homeachieved significantly higher spelling accuracy than those using traditional methods or app-onlyclassroom approaches. Statistical analyses confirmed the superior effectiveness of home-based appuse. The Binomial Effect Size Display highlighted notable improvements in specific spellingcategories, such as complex letter combinations and accent rules. Discussion centered on thebenefits of integrating gamification and ubiquitous learning tools in education, emphasizing theapp’s adaptability and immediate feedback, which encouraged independent learning and sustainedmotivation. The study advocates for blending traditional and gamified approaches to fostercomprehensive spelling competence, supporting educators with analytics-driven insights.
