I aC.
Secondary authoritarianism: a materialist approach to a pathology of digital recognition
Abstract: The thesis of the authoritarian personality developed by Adorno et al. points to some kind of social pathology, to social constellations that have negative effect on individuals. However, there are many reasons to speak of the obsolescence of the thesis. Nowadays, the different social spheres no longer seem to follow the ideal of direct obedience but work with flat and liquid hierarchies. To justify the current relevance of the main logic of the authoritarian personality, the text follows the thesis of secondary authoritarianism closely linked to the emergence of the virtual sphere as a new public sphere. Taking up the argumentation of these studies, the present article aims to unfold secondary authoritarianism as a specific pathology, namely as a pathology of recognition. To elaborate this thesis, the logic of pathologies of recognition is presented in the first part following the work of Axel Honneth. In the second part, authoritarianism in the digital era is presented as a pathology of recognition or as an ideological recognition. The third part of the text serves to emphasize the materialistic character of the thesis. It will be seen that today’s authoritarian personalities are combined with egocentric, hedonistic and narcissistic personalities. Instead of being opposing personality forms, both lack a strong sense of self. The possibilities of creating non-pathological self-relationships through mutual recognition are hindered in the current material organization of the digital world.

Internal consistency, sensitivity, specificity and predictive value of the short version of the Zarit Burden Interview-7 scores: systematic review and generalization meta-analysis
Objectives. The Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) is one of the most widely used instruments for assessing caregiver burden. One of the most used short scales of the ZBI is the 7-item version. The study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of the reliability and validity of the short version ZBI-7 items' scores to determine whether they provide average values that justify their application. Secondly, it sought to identify the characteristics of the studies that could explain the heterogeneity among the estimates. Methods. Forty-eight articles were identified that applied the short version of the ZBI-7, of which only 14 reported a reliability coefficient and 7 reported sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values. A random effects model was applied in the statistical analyses. Results. The average Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.866 (95 % CI [0.835, 0.891], k = 15), with high heterogeneity (I2 = 86.4 %). Mean sensitivity was 98.6 % (95 % CI [70.0 %-95.3 %], k = 3), mean specificity was 87.4 % (95 % CI [93.6 %-99.7 %], k = 3), mean positive predictive value was 93.7 % (95 % CI [81.3 %-98.1 %], k = 3), mean negative predictive value was 97.3 % (95 % CI [87.5, 99.4], k = 3). Conclusions. According to psychometric theory, the ZBI-7 can be considered reliable and valid for exploratory purposes in both research and clinical practic
Long-term effects of a double hit murine model for schizophrenia on parvalbumin expressing cells and plasticity-related molecules in the thalamic reticular nucleus and the habenula
The exposure to aversive experiences during early-life affects brain maturation and induces changes in behavior. Additionally, when these experiences coincide with subtle neurodevelopmental alterations, they may contribute to the emergence of psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia. Studies in patients and animal models have identified changes in parvalbumin (PV) expressing inhibitory neurons, highlighting their significance in the etiology of this disorder. Most studies have been focused on the cortex, but PV+ neurons also provide inhibitory input to diencephalic regions, particularly to the thalamus (through cells in the thalamic reticular nucleus, TRN) and the habenula. Remarkably, alterations in both nuclei have been described in schizophrenia. Some of these changes in PV+ cells may be mediated by perineuronal nets (PNN), specialized regions of the extracellular matrix that often surround them and regulate their synaptic input and activity. Interestingly, the physiological maturation and integration of PV+ neurons, which involves the assembly of PNN, occurs during early postnatal life. Plasticity molecules associated to inhibitory neurons, such as PSA-NCAM, or NMDA receptors (NMDAR) can also influence the structure and function of these cells. Growing evidence also indicates that glial cells regulate the physiology of PV+ neurons by influencing their maturation and modulating their synaptic connectivity. To explore the impact of early-life aversive experiences and concomitant subtle neurodevelopmental alterations on diencephalic PV+ cells, we analyzed adult male mice subjected to a double-hit model (DHM) of schizophrenia, combining a single injection of an NMDAR antagonist at P7 and post-weaning social isolation. We observed that exploratory behavior, PV+ neurons and their associated PNN, as well as PSA-NCAM and NMDAR expression and glial cells, in the TRN and the habenula were affected by the DHM or one of its factors. To our knowledge, this is the first report on such alterations in these diencephalic structures in an animal model combining neurodevelopmental alterations and early-life stress during adolescence. Our findings complement previous work on PV+ neurons in cortical regions and underscore the importance of studying diencephalic inhibitory networks and their intricate interactions with aversive experiences and neurodevelopmental alterations during early life in the context of schizophrenia

Follow-up of health-related quality of life and pain in a cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis before and after COVID-19
Background: The foot is one of the anatomical structures of the body most affected in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), associated with the disability of patients, even more during COVID-19. The aim of this study was to analyse whether the period of physical inactivity during COVID-19 is an influential factor on health-related quality of life and foot pain in patients with RA. Methods: 162 patients with foot pain and RA, recruited from the Hospital Virgen de las Nieves, Granada (Spain) were included. Data was collected during two different periods: January - December 2018 in person and June - September 2021 by phone. Patients were asked to complete the Spanish adapted version of the 12-Item Short Form Survey (SF-12) and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results: The results from the SF-12 questionnaires were divided between its two subscales (i.e., mental, and physical component). The physical component shows an improvement between 2018 and 2021, from 32.05 in 2018-35.18 in 2021 (p < 0.05). The opposite happened with the mental component, showing a deterioration, from 39.69 in 2018-34.48 in 2021 (p < 0.05). Regarding pain, VAS shows higher levels of pain with statistically significant differences, both in general pain (from 6 in 2018-7 in 2012) and in foot pain (from 5 to 7), (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Mental quality of life and pain, both general and foot pain, are influenced by the period of physical inactivity during COVID-19
