A partir do tema escolhido,
criança no grupo.
necessário e escutar a voz ativa da criança.ABSTRACT: This research, carried out as part of the Final Supervised Teaching Practice Report
for the Master's Degree in Pre-school Education, is based on the theme of inclusion and
the need to be responsive to all children. Based on the chosen theme, the following
research questions emerged: (i) to understand how the group and institutional team
perceive inclusion and feel prepared to carry it out - opportunities and constraints; (ii)
what strategies the educator and team - group and institutional - mobilize to achieve
quality inclusion.
Based on a qualitative approach, several collection tools were used, namely
participant and non-participant observation, through the recording of field notes; semidirective interviews with the early childhood educator and the group assistant and a
questionnaire addressed to the five teachers who make up the institution's team, to
understand their perspectives on inclusion in kindergarten, to welcome each child into the
group.
The results obtained suggest that initial and ongoing training is needed in order to
respond to the child's needs, as well as including everyone in the child's development
process, thus relying on the support and co-operation of the community, family and, above
all, the participation of the child themselves and their peer group, as active subjects in
their development. The strategies identified include working in large and small groups,
within the child's routine, using different materials and equipment, adapting planning
when necessary and listening to the child's active voice
The effect of psychological factors on cognitive impairment after cancer treatments
Tanto no decorrer do tratamento
referentes a estes estudos.
submetidos a tratamentos oncológicos sistémicos.
funções cognitivas de pacientes com cancro.ABSTRACT: Introduction: Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in the world, but due to advances in
medicine there are more survivors. However, both during and after treatment, a significant
number of patients complain of cognitive problems, particularly in memory and attention.
Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is the name given to the recurring phenomenon
associated with the cognitive effects of cancer. In addition to the symptoms of CRCI, it is
becoming increasingly clear that other factors such as psychological factors (depression, stress
and anxiety) play a role in both cognitive decline and the quality of life of these patients.
Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the results of these studies. Objective: To systematically
review the existing literature to explore the association between psychological factors and
cognitive impairment in patients undergoing systemic treatment for cancer. Method: A
systematic search was carried out in the following databases: PubMed/MEDLINE, EBSCO,
Web of Science and Scopus. Results: 19716 articles were identified and after a screening
process 47 articles were included in the systematic review. Conclusion: A large percentage of
the studies reveal that psychological factors such as depression, anxiety and stress are correlated
with the cognitive functions of patients with cancer.
para captar melhor as percepções sobre as perturbações mentais.ABSTRACT: Mental health literacy (LSM) has proven to be an effective tool in reducing the stigma
associated with mental disorders. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between LSM
and stigmatizing attitudes in a sample of adults, analyzing how sociodemographic variables
(e.g. gender and age) and contact with people with mental disorders influence this relationship.
To this end, an online survey was carried out comprising a sociodemographic questionnaire,
an adjective scale, developed to assess perceptions about people with mental disorders, the AQ27 questionnaire and the Mental Health Literacy scale.
The results indicated that women had higher levels of LSM and fewer stigmatizing
attitudes than men. Furthermore, individuals with greater contact with people with mental
disorders showed more favorable attitudes and fewer negative perceptions.
The findings highlight the importance of educational interventions that increase
knowledge about mental health, reduce prejudice and promote attitudes of acceptance. The
study also highlights the need to further investigate the impact of direct contact with people
diagnosed with psychological disorders and the role of personal experiences in the
development of LSM. Limitations include the lack of a representative sample of non-binary
individuals and the need for revisions to the adjective scale to better capture perceptions of
mental disorder
A persuasão do psicoterapeuta e racionais terapêuticos: Um estudo qualitativo
The aim was to explore the verbal and non-verbal characteristics of psychotherapists
that patients perceive as most effective in the co-construction of therapeutic rationales using a
qualitative approach.
Method: The qualiatative method Grounded Theory (Charmaz, 2014; Fernandes & Maia,
2001) was used to analyse 10 interviews conducted with patients who were either undergoing
or had completed psychotherapy in the past year in a private practice setting.
Results: Data analysis generated 19 categories related to persuasive behaviors of the
psychotherapist during the co-construction of therapeutic rationales. These categories were
organized into 5 domains representing unique and interrelated theoretical constructs: (1)
Adoption of a variety of non-verbal bahaviors; (2) Promotion and strengthening of the
therapeutic relationship; (3) Adaptation of verbal behaviors to the patient’s characteristics,
based on the exploration and validation of the problema; (4) Creation of na environment for
receiving/transmitting feedback and engaging in discussion with the patient; (5) Therapist
behaviors that do not assist in the co-construction of the therapeutic rationale.
Conclusion: The findings of this study allowed for a deeper understanding of the persuasive
(verbal and non-verbal) behaviors that, from the patient’s perspective, are favorable and
unfavorable for the effectiveness of the therapeutic process in the co-construction of therapeutic
rationales. These results align with existing literature on the persuasive behaviors of therapists
and their benefits for the efficacy of the therapeutic process
apresentada no ISPA – Instituto Universitário
medeia a relação entre o Fun at Work e o Desempenho de Tarefa; (2): A Satisfação no
Trabalho medeia a relação entre o Fun at Work e o Desempenho Contextual para com a
Organização; (3): A Satisfação no Trabalho medeia a relação entre o Fun at Work e o
relação entre o Fun at Work e a Intenção de Saída; e (5): A Satisfação no Trabalho medeia a
relação entre o Fun at Work e a Intenção de Permanência. Participaram neste estudo 208
Na relação do fun at work com o desempenho contextual
The present investigation aims to test the relationships between fun activities at work
and performance and fun activities at work and intention to leave, testing whether they are
mediated by job satisfaction. In this sense, five research hypotheses were created, where (1):
Job Satisfaction mediates the relationship between Fun at Work and Task Performance; (2):
Job Satisfaction mediates the relationship between Fun at Work and Contextual Performance
towards the Organization; (3): Job Satisfaction mediates the relationship between Fun at Work
and Contextual Performance towards Individuals; (4): Job Satisfaction mediates the
relationship between Fun at Work and Intention to Leave; and (5): Job Satisfaction mediates
the relationship between Fun at Work and Intention to Stay. This investigation has 208
participants, employees from different organizations in Portugal. Through the statistical
treatment of the data, it was possible to conclude that satisfaction plays a mediating role in the
relationship between fun at work and task performance and a partial mediation in the
relationships with contextual performance towards the organization, with the intention to
leave and the intention to stay. In the relationship between fun at work and contextual
performance towards individuals, no mediation was found
Abstract: Emotion regulation is important for socioemotional and mental health development, with lifelong implications. The Emotion Regulation Checklist (ERC; Shields & Cicchetti, 1997) is a widely used tool to assess emotional regulation and dysregulation in children. Despite wide use and translate into several languages, inconsistent findings have been found in its factorial structure across studies. This study addresses this gap by examining the factorial structure, reliability, and measurement invariance of the ERC in a Portuguese sample. A sample of 789 parents (mostly mothers, 90.9%) with children between 3 to 12 years old (49.3% preschoolers and 50.7% School-age) completed the scale. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) revealed that the original two-factor model (Emotion Regulation and Lability/Negativity) reached an acceptable fit, however three items had to be removed, and two item residuals correlated. Full invariance was achieved regarding boys and girls. While, regarding age, only configural invariance was achieved, meaning that, different loadings should be expected between preschool and school-age children. Considering the final model the Cronbach’s alphas (α) was .66 for Emotion Regulation and .80 for Lability/Negativity. These findings provide some support for the use of the Portuguese parents’ version of the ERC with preschool and school-age children.
COVID-19 lockdown and social isolation impact on the ability to place events in time
Dissertação de Mestrado
apresentada no Ispa – Instituto
Universitário para obtenção de grau
de Mestre na especialidade de
Psicologia Clínica e Psicologia da
SaúdeThe COVID-19 pandemic disrupted people’s lives forcing the Portuguese population to
stay home and forced them into social isolation. This resulted in a long period of time where we
were forced into routine, boredom, and sameness. Studies conducted during the COVID-19
lockdowns revealed that this impacted people’s time awareness and perception in various ways.
The goal of this research was to find if this phenomenon had any long-lasting impact on time
perception, specifically in time memory (i.e., the ability to place events in time). A 30-item
questionnaire was created, wherein each item the participant had to place a notable event in time
(from 2018 to 2022). The goal was to compare the scores between participants who experienced
different lockdown durations (i.e., no lockdown and short lockdown vs. long lockdown periods),
and to assert if the lockdown experience influenced the time memory ability. The results of this
research were inconclusive, as no significant differences were found between conditions. However,
the results also showed that, overall, participants had more difficulty placing 2020 and 2021 events
in time than 2018 events, suggesting a potential long-term time disorientation that could be
attributable to the COVID-19 restrictions.RESUMO: A pandemia do COVID-19 causou um grande transtorno nossas vidas, forçando a
e time perception.
eventos no tempo).
pandemia COVID-1
Allochrony is shaped by foraging niche segregation rather than adaptation to the windscape in long-ranging seabirds
Background Ecological segregation allows populations to reduce competition and coexist in sympatry. Using
as model organisms two closely related gadfly petrels endemic to the Madeira archipelago and breeding with a
two month allochrony, we investigated how movement and foraging preferences shape ecological segregation
in sympatric species. We tested the hypothesis that the breeding allochrony is underpinned by foraging niche
segregation. Additionally, we investigated whether our data supported the hypothesis that allochrony is driven by
species-specific adaptations to different windscapes.
Methods We present contemporaneous tracking and stable isotopes datasets for Zino’s (Pterodroma madeira) and
Desertas (Pterodroma deserta) petrels. We quantified the year-round distribution of the petrels, characterised their
isotopic niches and quantified their habitat preferences using machine learning (boosted regression trees). Hidden-
Markov-models were used to investigate the effect of wind on the central-place movement speed, and a simulation
framework was developed to investigate whether each species breeds at times when the windscape is most
favourable to sustain their trips.
Results Despite substantial spatial overlap throughout the year, the petrels exhibited diverging isotopic niches and
habitat preferences during breeding. Both species used a vast pelagic region in the North Atlantic, but targeted two
different mesopelagic ecoregions and showed a preference for habitats mostly differing in sea surface temperature
values. Based on our simulation framework, we found that both species would perform trips of similar speed during
the other species’ breeding season.
Conclusions The different breeding schedules between the species are underpinned by differences in foraging
habitat preferences and adaptation to the local environment, rather than to the windscape. Nevertheless, the larger
Desertas petrels exploited significantly windier conditions, potentially unsustainable for the smaller Zino’s petrels.
Furthermore, due to larger mass and likely higher fasting endurance, Desertas petrels engaged in central-placeforaging
movements that covered more ground and lasted longer than those of Zino’s petrels. Ultimately, patterns
of ecological segregation in sympatric seabirds are shaped by a complex interplay between foraging and movementARNET,SESAM e Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia - FCTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Effects of grade retention in lower secondary education on students' self‐concept, self‐esteem, goal orientations, and school career
Grade retention is one of the most discussed and controversial
educational measures, and yet, it is still widely applied in many
countries. Research investigating the effects of grade retention
on students' psychosocial variables presents mixed findings,
partly due to the variables assessed, methodological issues, and
the length of the studies. This study aimed to analyse both the
short to medium and longitudinal effects of grade retention in
grades 7 or 8 on Portuguese students' academic self‐concept,
self‐esteem, goal orientations, and school career. Data were
collected continuously over a 3‐year span (once a year) and,
again, 3 years after the third wave. After matching 477
students on several pretreatment variables using inverse
probability treatment weighting with time‐varying treatments
(i.e., retention), our analytical sample consisted of 85 promoted
students, 33 students retained in grade 7, and 32 students
retained in grade 8. Our results showed that retained students
did not differ from their promoted peers in self‐esteem and
goal orientations in the short, medium, or long term. The
exception was for an increase in the academic self‐concept of
retained students, but only in short term. Finally, considering
students' school career, grade retention was not predictive of
further retention.Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia - FCTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Is There Evidence of Crohn’s Disease Exclusion Diet (CDED) in remission of active disease in children and adults? A Systematic Review
Crohn’s disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disease. Previous research has explored the impact of diet on CD, as specific dietary components can influence gut microbiota and immune responses, contributing to damage in the gastrointestinal tract. The Crohn’s Disease Exclusion Diet (CDED) is based on an exclusion diet; it is a recent dietary approach that is often used alongside partial enteral nutrition (PEN) and aims to induce disease remission by excluding certain dietary components. This study assesses the current evidence for the effectiveness of the CDED + PEN in achieving remission in both children and adults with active CD. Our systematic review followed PRISMA recommendations and was registered in PROSPERO with CRD number 42022335076. The searched databases were PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Web of Science. The included studies were analyzed using Rayyan software, and the risk of bias was assessed with Cochrane RevMan 5.0 software. The primary assessed outcome was clinical remission, evaluated with validated questionnaire scores such as PCDAI, CDAI, or HBI. All analyzed papers yielded promising results. Notably, the CDED + PEN demonstrated better tolerance than exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN), resulting in higher adherence rates. Therefore, the CDED + PEN appears to be a viable alternative for induction remission in active disease for both children and adults with CD.Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia - FCTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
