Normative ratings for the Kitchen and Food Sounds (KFS) database
Sounds are important sensory cues for food perception and acceptance. We developed and validated a large-scale database of kitchen and food sounds (180 stimuli) capturing different stages of preparing, cooking, serving, and/or consuming foods and beverages and sounds of packaging, kitchen utensils, and appliances. Each sound was evaluated across nine subjective evaluative dimensions (random order), including stimuli-related properties (e.g., valence, arousal) and food-related items
(e.g., healthfulness, appetizingness) by a subsample of 51 to 64 participants (Mdn = 54; N = 332; 69.6% women, Mage = 27.46 years, SD = 10.20). Participants also identified each sound and rated how confident they were in such identification. Results show that, overall, participants could correctly identify the sound or at least recognize the general sound categories. The stimuli of the KFS database varied across different levels (low, moderate, high) of the evaluative dimensions under analysis, indicating good adequacy to a broad range of research purposes. The correlation analysis showed a high degree of association between evaluative dimensions. The sociodemographic characteristics of the sample had a limited influence on the stimuli
evaluation. Still, some aspects related to food and cooking were associated with how the sounds are evaluated, suggesting
that participants’ proficiency in the kitchen should be considered when planning studies with food sounds. Given its broad range of stimulus categories and evaluative dimensions, the KFS database (freely available at OSF) is suitable for different research domains, from fundamental (e.g., cognitive psychology, basic sensory science) to more applied research (e.g., marketing, consumer science).Fundação para a Ciência eTecnologia - FCTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

Second grade retention: Beliefs, decision‐making styles, and factors involved in the decision process
Grade retention decisions are high‐risk because this
practice can significantly affect students' academic and
professional path and their socioaffective development.
This study aimed to contribute to a better understanding of
second‐grade retention decision‐making by exploring the
factors the professionals consider during the retention
decision‐making, their beliefs about the effectiveness of
grade retention, and their cognitive decision‐making style.
The study sets in Portugal, where second‐grade retention is
a common practice. One hundred ninety‐four teachers
answered an online questionnaire developed for this
purpose. Path analysis results suggested that teachers' beliefs and decision‐making styles served as a filter,
defining what factors they consider relevant or not to make
grade retention decisions. Intuitive experiences seem to
inform teachers' grade‐retention decisions, especially when
they believe retention is essential for students' success.Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia - FCTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Fintech: Evidence of the urgent need to improve financial literacy in Portugal
Fintech has revolutionized the financial sector, providing a new way of providing banking services. Since Fintech can provide the same services as traditional banks but entirely online, it is a competitor. As a result, consumers’ relationships with banking have inevitably changed, and it is therefore relevant to analyze these changes. The main objective of this study is to understand people’s perceptions of Fintech, their level of knowledge about it, and the impact of its emergence on traditional banking. The study sample consisted of 174 participants. A quantitative methodology was used to test the hypotheses formulated. The results show that participants who know about Fintech and perceive it as safe have a greater intention of changing banks. On the other hand, they perceive that supervision and regulation in traditional banks is higher than in Fintech. Among the reasons for becoming a Fintech customer, the most mentioned were lower costs and the fact that they provide greater convenience and ease of use. It will be in Fintech’s interest to continue working with regulators so that the sector makes progress in this area and consumers can recognize greater equality between traditional banks and Fintech in the future.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The mediating effect of affective commitment on the relationship between competence development and turnover Intentions: Does this relationship depend on the employee’s generation?
The main objective of this investigation was to study the effect of organizational competency development practices on turnover intentions and whether affective commitment explains this relationship. Another of the study’s objectives was to test whether these relationships vary according to the generation to which the participant belongs. The study sample consisted of 2123 participants working in Portuguese organizations. The results indicate that organizational competency development practices (training, individualized support, and functional rotation) negatively and significantly affect turnover intentions and that affective commitment mediates this relationship. However, these relationships vary according to the participant’s generation. For Generation Y and Generation X, this mediating effect is found in all dimensions of organizational competency development practices. For the baby boomer generation, there is only a mediating effect of affective commitment in the relationship between individualized support and turnover intentions. These results indicate that human resources should consider the generation to which the participant belongs when implementing competency development practices.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Numa segunda fase, realizouse
evidências o diário de bordo, notas de campo, registos fotográficos e gravações de áudio.ABSTRACT: The present research arises within the scope of the course unit “Seminar on Educational
Intervention and Research”, followed from the Supervised Teaching Practice. The central
theme aims the role of contextualized tasks in promotion rich mathematical learning
experience that fosters the development of the transversal capacities described in the
Essential Learnings of Mathematics for the 1st Cycle of Basic Education (2021). The
supervised practice took place in a private institution, following a 4th-grade class. Firstly,
a naturalistic observation of the mathematical tasks proposed by the cooperating teacher
was carried out in the context of the students' day-to-day experiences. In a second phase,
the contextualized mathematical tasks were implemented to analyze and reflect in more
detail on which transversal mathematical capacities are enhanced by these tasks. The
methodology used was qualitative in nature, with observation and interview as data
collection techniques, and a logbook, field notes, photographic records, and audio
recordings as instruments for recording evidence.
a idade, o género e as habilitações literárias.
adaptar os seus processos de recrutamento e seleção à sua população-alvo.ABSTRACT: This research aims to study the Perception of Procedural Justice, Organizational Attraction,
Job Pursuit Intentions and Litigation Intentions. It seeks to understand if there are differences
in these variables considering the type of agent - whether the process was conducted by a
human or based on artificial intelligence (AI) - as well as the final outcome - being accepted
or rejected. Possible differences in the analyzed variables were also studied considering
sociodemographic characteristics such as age, gender, and educational qualifications. A
quasi-experimental study was conducted with a 2x2 design, utilizing an online questionnaire
with scales measuring the Perception of Procedural Justice, Organizational Attraction, Job
Pursuit Intentions, and Litigation Intentions, with a sample of 235 valid responses. The
results partially confirm the study's hypotheses, showing: more positive perceptions in the
dimensions of job-relatedness, chance to perform, organizational attraction, and job pursuit
intentions in the human agent type and accepted outcome, the absence of interaction between
agent type and outcome, higher litigation intentions in the female sample, greater chance to
perform and job pursuit intentions among men, and greater job-relatedness for the sample up
to 22 years old. This research highlights the importance of studying candidates' perceptions
and experiences in AI selection processes, so that organizations can adapt their recruitment
and selection processes to their target population

agente de facilitador social.ABSTRACT: Present literature is currently investing in the LGBTQ+ community to deepen its
knowledge. One of the investments has been observing their substance use and how it
influences their lives. Portugal was one of the first countries to decriminalize substance use as
a preventive strategy in the face of the problem faced in relation to substance use. The present
study focuses on a group that is underrepresented within and outside the community, bisexual
women, and attempts to understand whether their substance use acts as a coping mechanism
in the face of the adversities they suffer due to their gender and/or sexual orientation. Semi structured interviews were carried out to seek to understand the life experiences of these
women, using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The results observed show that the
sample does not consume to deal with biphobic and/or misogynistic experiences but rather to
regulate their anxiety, sleep cycle and as a social facilitator
Relações entre Sintomas Depressivos, Atributos Psicológicos, e Competências Sociais e Emocionais dos Jovens
Dissertação de Mestrado realizada sob a
orientação do Professor Doutor António
A presente investigação pretende estudar e analisar como a depressão influência as
competências sociais e emocionais nas crianças e adolescentes. Neste estudo participaram
rapazes, nomeadamente, anedonia, autoestima negativa e CDI Total.
ansiosas do que os indivíduos do sexo masculino.ABSTRACT: This research aims to study and analyze how depression influences social and
emotional skills in children and adolescents. In this study, 101 participants, aged between
10 and 17 years, as well as 9 teachers, participated. To assess depression in young people,
the ICD instrument was used (Kovacs, 1985) and the SDQ test was also applied
(Goodman, 1997). On the other hand, an instrument was applied to the teachers to assess
the socio-emotional adjustment of their students, the Teacher-Child Rating Scale (T CRS) (Hightower et al, 1986).
It was possible to observe the effects of the multivariate analysis that was performed
as a function of the group of depressive symptoms and gender, to control for age, which
was included as a covariate. It is possible to verify that Age, Group and Gender presented
statistically significant multivariate effects in the combined dimensions under study.
There was no multivariate interaction effect between the group of depressive symptoms
and gender. We can highlight that the child's age had significant effects on several
subscales.
Regarding depressive symptoms, girls showed more symptoms than boys, namely,
anhedonia, negative self-esteem, and Total ICD. In hyperactivity, boys did not show
significantly more symptoms of this disorder in the present sample, in contrast to previous
publications. Regarding the results of the T-CRS instrument, it is important to highlight
that the data reflect the opinions and evaluations that teachers make of their students.
Therefore, the teachers who participated in this research did not show that girls tend to be
shier and more anxious than male individuals
