The portuguese version of the Emotion Regulation of Others and Self (EROS) in a clinical sample: Psychometric properties and measurement invariance across sex
The Emotion Regulation of Others and Self Scale (EROS) is commonly used to measure individual differences in the use
of strategies to regulate one’s own and other people’s emotions. This study aimed to examine its psychometric properties
and measurement invariance across sex in a Portuguese clinical sample. For this purpose, we tested the factorial structure of the EROS in a sample of 390 adults (259 women; Mage=34.33; SD=9.99) undergoing active psychotherapy in
a private clinic. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the four-factor solution proposed by the original authors
(intrinsic affect-improving, intrinsic affect-worsening, extrinsic affect-improving and extrinsic affect-worsening) fitted
well to our data. Invariance across sex was determined by using multi-group analyses. Additionally, reliability analysis
indicated good coefficients for all the dimensions. The pattern of associations of the EROS subscales with dispositional
mindfulness, ruminative thinking, psychological inflexibility, emotional intelligence, and psychopathological symptoms
were examined. As expected, small to moderate correlations were found evidencing the convergent construct validity of
the EROS. Findings suggest that the EROS is a psychometrically sound approach for assessing individual differences in
emotion regulation in clinical samples.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Editorial: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19): Psychological and behavioral consequences of confinement on physical activity, sedentarism, and rehabilitation
This collection shows that physical activity behavior and COVID-19 are related. Active life during the pandemic provided fewer negative psychological states in different populations. Lockdown and social distancing have created conditions to increase stress, which exercising was a positive action for its reduction or prevention.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
apresentada no ISPA – Instituto Universitário
Validade convergente
TRIG – Versão Portuguesa seja testado com amostras específicas.ABSTRACT: Introduction: Acute grief arises when a person becomes aware that he/she has lost someone
or something important in his/her life (Shear, 2015). It is due to the complexity of this process
that its assessment and study becomes relevant, so that a better therapeutic intervention can be
conducted. This article aims to adapt the Texas Revised Grief Inventory (TRIG) to the
Portuguese population and assess its psychometric properties.
Method: Adaptation: following Beaton and collaborators (2000) guidelines. Sample: 440
participants. Mean age was 43.16. Confirmatory factor analysis: two models were tested, a
three-factor model (past feelings, present feelings, and disbelief) and a two-factor model (past
feelings and present feelings). Invariance between Multigroups: the configural, the metric, the
scalar and the residual were tested. Convergent and discriminant validity: was tested between
the TRIG (and subscales) with the PG-13, and with the BDI II, respectively.
Results: Confirmatory Factor Analysis: The model that showed the best results was the twofactor model, showing a fit within the acceptable limit. Invariance between Multigroups: it was
concluded that there is invariance between genders. Internal Consistency: presented significant
results, in the total TRIG as well as in its subscales. Convergent Validity: moderate positive and
significant correlation. Discriminant validity: low and positive correlation.
Conclusion: The TRIG – Portuguese Version showed good psychometric results, proving to
be valid and reliable for the Portuguese population. It is suggested that the TRIG – Portuguese
Version be tested in the future with specific samples

“Pai, mãe, tenho vergonha” Associação entre práticas parentais e vergonha na adolescência
Dissertação de Mestrado apresentada no Ispa – Instituto Universitário
para obtenção de grau de Mestre na especialidade de
Psicologia e Psicopatologia do Desenvolvimento.
contribuir para a eficácia de futuras intervenções.ABSTRACT: Research reveals that parental practices are positively related to self-conscious
emotions of shame in adolescents. However, we require research that includes the parental
figure, and discriminates between parenting practices and parenting styles. Therefore, this
dissertation aimed to perceive the associations between parental practices, including mother
and father, and adolescent shame. This is a cross-sectional study, which has the participation of
207 adolescents and their respective students (father and mother). The data were collected in
the secondary schools of Lisbon, and the CRPR-Q: Child Rearing Practices Report (Rickel &
Lawerence, 1979) was applied to the parents and the EVEI-A: External and Internal Shame
Scale for Adolescents (Cunha et al., 2021) was applied to the adolescents. Results showed that,
the use of negative parental practices (restrictiveness) is associated with shame in male
adolescents. On the other hand, the more parental practices based on, affection, acceptance, and
receptivity (care), the less female adolescents experience shame. In conclusion, this research
could complement existing gaps and contribute to the effectiveness of future interventions
Connectivity between countries established by landbirds and raptors migrating along the African–Eurasian flyway
The conservation of long-distance migratory birds requires coordination between the multiple countries connected by the movements of these species. The recent expansion of
tracking studies is shedding new light on these movements, but much of this information
is fragmented and inaccessible to conservation practitioners and policy makers. We synthesized current knowledge on the connectivity established between countries by landbirds
and raptors migrating along the African–Eurasian flyway. We reviewed tracking studies to
compile migration records for 1229 individual birds, from which we derived 544 migratory links, each link corresponding to a species’ connection between a breeding country in
Europe and a nonbreeding country in sub-Saharan Africa. We used these migratory links
to analyze trends in knowledge over time and spatial patterns of connectivity per country
(across species), per species (across countries), and at the flyway scale (across all countries
and all species). The number of tracking studies available increased steadily since 2010 (particularly for landbirds), but the coverage of existing tracking data was highly incomplete.
An average of 7.5% of migratory landbird species and 14.6% of raptor species were tracked
per country. More data existed from central and western European countries, and it was
biased toward larger bodied species. We provide species- and country-level syntheses of the
migratory links we identified from the reviewed studies, involving 123 populations of 43
species, migrating between 28 European and 43 African countries. Several countries (e.g.,
Spain, Poland, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo) are strategic priorities for future
tracking studies to complement existing data, particularly on landbirds. Despite the limitations in existing tracking data, our data and results can inform discussions under 2 key
policy instruments at the flyway scale: the African–Eurasian Migratory Landbirds ActionPlan and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of
Prey in Africa and Eurasia.Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia - FCTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Salivary oxytocin after play with parents predicts behavioural problems in preschool children
Background: Oxytocin (OXT) has attracted research interest for its potential involvement in many of the
behavioural problems observed in childhood. Due to its logistical advantages, saliva is an attractive fluid to
quantify neuropeptides in children. Salivary OXT has been suggested as a potential biomarker for psychopathology during childhood. However, several questions still remain about the extent to which, and under what
conditions, concentrations of OXT in saliva can be reliably measured and are related to behavioural problems in
preschool age children.
Methods: Seven samples of saliva from 30 preschool children (17 girls) were collected in five different days at
their homes. Three of the samples were collected by the children’s parents at baseline daily routine conditions,
and four of the samples were collected by researchers during two home-visits: before and after two 15-minute
dyadic play sessions (one with mothers and one fathers) between each individual parent and the child.
Oxytocin concentrations were quantified by Radioimmunoassay with prior extraction. Children’s behavioural
problems were assessed by the Caregiver-Teacher Report Form (C-TRF) questionnaire, completed by the child’s’
preschool teacher.
Results: Salivary OXT measured in baseline samples could not predict any of the behavioural problems measured
by the C-TRF. However, when measured after playing with parents salivary OXT showed a stronger pattern of
negative correlations, specially with the depression and opposition scales of the C-TRF. Furthermore, salivary
OXT was unlikely to be reliably measured using single sampling, but acceptable reliabilities were achieved when
averaging several samples. Finally, the single measures of salivary OXT evoked after an episode of play with
parents showed better reliabilities than collected at baseline.
Conclusion: Measurements of OXT evoked after positive affect interactions with parents seem to capture aspects
of the OXT system in young children that might be relevant for understanding the role of this system in children’s social behaviour.Fundação BIAL, FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologiainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
