Post-Covid symptoms in EU cross-border cooperation
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the conditions of normal life in many aspects. However, it most impacted the life of people around national borders. What is more, while in other regions, after the successful vaccination campaigns, life begins to return normal, the borderlands still display signs of the effect of the pandemic, what we could call post-Covid symptoms. The study points out the symptoms which seem likely to stay with us for a long time and formulates recommendations for treatment.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
AI business writing assistant tools in practice: Text mining and statistical analysis of user experience
This study employs a multi-method quantitative research design to review various popular AI writing assistant tools using 11562 actual users’ satisfied and dissatisfied reviews.
The teaching career has faced several challenges in recent years. These challenges have
affected the levels of well being and led to a shortage of teachers in schools. This study aims
to understand whether the context in which teachers lecture and their job crafting behaviours
can be related to their subjective well being. So, the relationship between school climate, as a
contextual factor, and the three components of subjective well being satisfaction, positive
affect and negative affect has been analysed. The relationship between job crafting
behaviours and each of the variables that make up subjective well being was also analysed
and the mediating role of job crafting in the relationship between school climate and teachers'
subjective well being was studied too. A quantitative study was carried out on a sample of 182
Portuguese teachers. The results showed a significant relationship between school climate
and each of the components of well being. However, job crafting was only found to be
significantly related to job satisfaction and the positive affections experienced by teachers, it’s
mediating role was also only found within these, showing no significant direct or indirect
relation with negative affections. Therefore, this reinforces the idea that, promoting a positive
school climate, such as encouraging and opening up job crafting behaviours, can be important
for improving teachers' levels of well being

organizacional.Management control is an essential tool for a company to ensure that it achieves its
strategic objectives, as it enables continuous performance monitoring. In this context, the
Balanced Scorecard (BSC) emerges as a management control instrument to align the
company’s activities with its vision and organizational strategies, allowing performance
measurement through indicators across different perspectives.
This research aims to conceptualize the BSC for the specific case of PMP
EVENTOS, a company operating in the production of shows and events, in order to
provide it with a tool that prioritizes value creation, considering the realities of the
industry in which it operates.
To achieve this goal, the study follows a qualitative methodology through an
interventionist case study method, through semi-structured interviews conducted to
company professionals, complemented by collection and document analysis.
The main theoretical contribution of this work lies in the practical adaptation of
the BSC to a company within a sector where a gap in the literature on these topics was
identified, as accounting and management studies in this area are limited. The primary
practical contribution is to propose an approach that enhances management practices, that
is, one that assists in optimizing management practices with the aim of providing
solutions that make decision-making processes more effective, promote operational
efficiency, and improve organizational performance

Demand responsive transport systems: Analysis of potential demand and user preferences
Recently, the demand for alternatives to private car use has increased significantly, both in
Portugal and internationally, for environmental, demographic and social reasons. However, the
traditional public transport system has proved insufficient to satisfy this need. As a result, there
has been a growing emergence of new mobility services aimed at filling the gaps in traditional
models. Among these, Demand-Responsive Transport systems (DRT) are one of the models
that has become very popular, due to the various configurations it can assume and its main
defining characteristic: flexibility. As such, a large part of the research in this area involves
assessing the positive impact that these systems can have on users' quality of life, particularly
people who are less autonomous in terms of mobility or live in areas underserved by public
transport. Thereby, there are several factors that can contribute to the adoption, or not, of these
transport systems. The aim of this dissertation is to explore which factors influence the
population's intention to use them, plus the characteristics most valued by future users in
Portugal. To this end, a survey was carried out to obtain information on mobility habits, to which
375 people responded. The data was analyzed statistically and it was possible to conclude
that factors like area of residence and distance to the nearest pubic transport stop influence
intention to use DRT. It was also concluded that age, gender, occupation and distance to the
nearest PT stop, along with their transportation habits, impact how people perceive operational
characteristics.
Predicting tail risks and the evolution of temperatures
This paper explores a range of simple models to study the relationship between global temperature anomalies and climate forcings. In particular, we consider quantile regression models with potentially time-varying parameters (TVP), implemented by Bayesian methods. In its most general specification, this approach is flexible in that it models distinct regions of distribution of global temperature anomalies, while also allowing us to investigate changes in the relationship between (natural and anthropogenic) climate forcings and temperatures. Our results indicate that there is indeed considerable variation over time in the relationship between temperatures and its drivers, and that these effects may be heterogeneous across different quantiles. We then perform a long-range forecasting exercise for temperatures, which suggests that incorporating TVP or explicitly modelling quantile levels or the combination of both features can improve prediction for different parts of the temperature distribution. In addition, we produce forecasts for 2030 considering the intermediate RCP 4.5 scenario: given that no single specification dominates, we account for model uncertainty by considering forecast averaging across all specifications. Our approach allows us to make statements about the probability of temperature levels — for instance, we find that a scenario of +1.8 °C will occur with a non-negligible probability under RCP 4.5.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Project-based organizations (PBO) as a competitive advantage
In the current highly competitive and rapidly evolving business environment, ProjectBased Organizations (PBOs) emerge as a transformative solution for companies seeking
agile and innovative answers, developed through temporary project-oriented units. While
extensive academic research explores the factors influencing project success and the
implementation of project-based organizational structures, a crucial question remains
unanswered: Do PBOs still offer a sustainable competitive advantage? Utilizing the VRIO
Model, a qualitative analysis was conducted by interviewing project managers from
companies that have adopted this structure. The results indicate that, due to its common
adoption and ease of imitation, Project-Based Organizations are now a source of
competitive parity. Therefore, companies must consider adopting this structure to stay
competitive, as well as explore ways to make it distinctive and inimitable to position
themselves advantageously in the ever-evolving business landscape.
Assim, as empresas devem
Além disso, a modulação 16QAM proporcionou uma cobertura superior à 256QAM.In recent years, the demand for faster data transmission speeds on mobile networks has increased significantly. The emergence of innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotics, combined with demands for low latency, has fuelled the development of fifth generation (5G) mobile networks. 5G private networks offer greater customization, control, privacy and security.
Given the growing modernisation and technological innovation of international airports, it became necessary to conduct a study on planning a private 5G network at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport in Guinea-Bissau to keep up with this evolution. To carry out this dissertation, the performance of a 5G NR system at the airport was studied, assessing the throughput and coverage of the ‘Aero’ scenario. Different configurations of coverage, power, number of users, modulation (16QAM and 256QAM) and the inclusion of M-MIMO systems were analysed, using a frequency of 3.6 GHz. The aim was to find efficient solutions to meet the challenges of security, interference and optimisation of communications.
To perform this study, a JAVA simulator was developed to test the ‘Aero’ scenario with various parameters. The results showed that the clustering strategy brought significant improvements, particularly 3C clustering, which reduced interference compared to 1C. In addition, 16QAM modulation provided better coverage than 256QAM
Two-wave study on intrapersonal stigma, social isolation, well-being, and functioning in individuals with chronic pain: A structural equation modeling approach
Stigmatization poses significant challenges for individuals living with chronic pain (CP), particularly when pain complaints lack a clear pathophysiological basis, referred to as primary CP. Although the negative impact of stigmatization on well-being and functioning of individuals with CP is acknowledged, its systematic and theory-driven investigations are sparse. Moreover, the underlying mechanisms linking CP stigmatization to adverse outcomes have yet to be examined. This study conducted an online, two-wave prospective questionnaire, collecting data from 332 individuals with chronic pain in the first wave (271 women, M age = 50y) and a subset of the same sample (N= 295; 241 women, M age = 54y) in the second wave (1 year later). Structural equation modeling revealed several key findings: (1) Individuals with primary CP perceived higher intrapersonal stigma compared to those with secondary CP. (2) Higher perceived stigma was related to increased mental distress and to decreased functioning/participation, both via higher levels of social isolation. 3) The structural relationships were not statistically equivalent across primary and secondary CP, suggesting moderation. 4) Finally, changes in perceived stigma were related to changes in functioning/participation in daily life and changes in mental distress, but only the model with mental distress was mediated by changes in social isolation. The findings underscore the importance of addressing perceived stigma and social isolation to improve mental health outcomes in CP patients. Clinically, tailored interventions that consider the unique needs of patients with primary versus secondary CP are necessary.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
