Unga vuxnas investeringar i en osäker ekonomi

    No full text
This thesis investigates how high interest rates and rising inflation during the economic downturn of 2022-2024 have affected investment decisions and risk tolerance among young adults in the Swedish stock market. Using a quantitative method, data were collected through a survey of 203 respondents aged 18-30. The survey was distributed through investment-focused Facebook groups. The theoretical framwork is based on behavioral economics, prospect theory, and the lifecycle hypothesis to analyze the psychological, social, and economic factors shaping young adult's investment behavior.  The results show a clear shift toward increased risk aversion, with many respondents becoming more cautious and reducing their investments. At the same time, some stated that inflation had reduced their disponible income, which posed a barrier to investing. Many respondents also preferred safer forms of saving, such as savings accounts, consistent with prospect theory's emphasis on loss aversion during periods of economic uncertainty. Statistical analysis (Chi-square-test) confirmed correlations between inflation, interest rates and reduced risk-taking. Despite this, 36% of respondents planned to increase their investments in the coming year, indicating that young adults are adapting to market conditions.  The study also highlights socioeconomic disparities, with lower-income individuals exhibiting greater risk aversion. Although the non-random sampling limits the generalizablity of the results, the findings offer valuable insights into how young investors navigate economic uncertainty.

Headhunting as Ritualised Violence in Prehistory and the Recent Past

    No full text
Why does headhunting as a cultural phenomenon occur so often in both the ethnographic and archaeological records? There was certainly no direct transmission of this peculiar cultural trait between societies divided by thousands of years and separated across several continents. Yet, intriguing parallels exist between very diverse groups; between societies as remote from each other as the nineteenth and early twentieth century Nagas of northern India, and the Iron Age populations of southern France. In this paper, I consider some themes relating to headhunting that emerge from a study of ethnographic records in relation to beliefs and ideas about the body, and examine the role of headhunting in promoting, exacerbating and conceptualising inter-societal violence

A Playful Time : Working Class Children’s Stories in the History of Textile Industry

    No full text
Abstract for A Playful time: The article is a philosophical and literary investigation of the relationship between children’s work, subjectivity and play situatedwithin the history of textile work as recorded in the textile archives. Child labor has been a widespread reality in the European textileindustry and was a major contributing factor in the industrialization of the 18th and 19th centuries. A signpost at Rydal’s Spinnery, a textile factory in Sweden, which urged the workers not to play orfight – “Don’t play, don’t fight – rule out play and fighting at work”– provides a starting point for analyzing children’s play in relation to subjectivity and work. The article use a literary formulation, and draws on the work of Giorgio Agamben as well as Eugen Fink’s theory of play to develop an understanding of children’s play, life, and working conditions in the textile industry.Abstract for Weaving it togheter: This volume presents novel research perspectives on the Swedish textile industry’s history, with a particular focus on its international connections. One of the book’s purposes is to cast new light on the transnational connectivity of the Swedish textile industry, particularly cotton textiles. Both cotton and textiles in general have played a key part in Swedish industrialisation according to both academic and popular historical narratives, yet the subject has been treated in national isolation despite the many ways the textile industry has been shaped by processes and circumstances that are international in scope.  In this book, we try to look beyond the national borders and get some glimpses of how the Swedish textile industry is interwoven with international networks for dissemination of technology, know-how, consumer products and raw material – especially for the cotton textile production.  Textile is a commodity which has been traded over long distances for centuries. However, the emergence of the industrial production of cotton represents something totally new. The global proliferation of affordable cotton was facilitated by an intricate network of international relations woven by the British Empire, which linked Swedish spinners and weavers, mill owners and consumers to an international system of chattel slavery and colonialism. In other words, the cotton textile industry linked Sweden to the world in brand-new ways.

Despite significant changes in the Swedish preschool curriculum in 2018, there remains a degree of uncertainty regarding the preschool teacher’s leadership role. The purpose of this systematic literature review is to explore how leadership in preschool settings influences and interacts with preschool teachers’ pedagogical responsibility. This literature review aims to answer the following research questions: 1. Which leadership factors are emphasized in the literature as central to strengthening preschool teachers’ pedagogical responsibility? 2. How are the different roles and positionings of preschool teachers, childcarer and principals within the work team discussed in relation to educational responsibility and leadership in current research?  The purpose of this systematic literature review is to explore how leadership in preschool settings influences and interacts with preschool teachers’ pedagogical responsibility. The study is based on an analysis of 13 peer-reviewed articles focusing on leadership and responsibility within early childhood education. Four inclusion criteria were applied to narrow down the selection to relevant research. The collected material was analyzed using qualitative text analysis and coding, resulting in five key themes: 1pedagogical leadership as competence and professional development, equality within the preschool organization, leadership development as an ongoing learning process, collaboration and trust among staff, and the relationship between leadership and responsibility. The findings indicate that leadership plays a crucial role in shaping, interpreting, and developing pedagogical responsibility in preschool practice. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the factors influencing the relationship between leadership and pedagogical responsibility, as well as the challenges and opportunities within this interaction. The results highlight key patterns and relationships based on the identified themes, focusing on various aspects of pedagogical responsibility and leadership

Skrivuppgift eller konspirationsteori om pyramider? : Gymnasieelevers upplevelser av digitala medier i klassrumsmiljöer

    No full text

    No full text
Following the mandatory implementation of IFRS in EU in 2005, the way goodwill is accounted for in Swedish listed companies shifted from an amortization-based approach to an impairment-only method. With the transition more extensive requirements for disclosure regarding goodwill valuation were added. The objective of this study is to examine the extent to which Swedish listed companies comply with the disclosure requirements outlined in IAS 36 paragraph 134, and how these disclosures have evolved over time.   The study is based on a qualitative comparative document analysis where annual reports from ten companies were examined over six selected years between 2005 and 2024. The companies were chosen based on the highest trading volume on shares at the Stockholm Stock Exchange by the day of the retrieval, together with accordance with the selection criteria for the paper, and therefore no regard was taken to industry. Each company has been studied using a checklist based on the disclosure requirements in IAS 36 paragraph 134 for each selected year, where the results indicate whether the concerned criteria is fulfilled or not.  The theories principal-agent theory and signalling theory are applied to analyse how management of the company may have varying incentives to either increase or reduce the transparency in the financial reporting. The findings indicate significant variation in the compliance with the disclosure requirements, suggesting that the corporate management make use of the interpretive flexibility the standard allows. The study contributes with insights about the need for improved guidance to enhance transparency and decrease the information asymmetry in the accounting of goodwill
