Strategic Inventory Management for New Products : A case study within a SME with Low-Mix, Low-Volume & High-Value products
Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with Low-Mix, Low-Volume and High-Value (LMLV-HV) products face challenges balancing Inventory service levels (ISL) and Inventory carrying costs (ICC), particularly during the industrialization of new products. Uncertainties in demand, lead-times, and supply chain variability amplify inventory management complexity, elevating the risk of stockouts or high ICC. This study explores inventory management strategies in SMEs dealing with LMLV-HV products during the industrialization of new products. The purpose of this study is to develop a process for managing inventory during the industrialization of new products in SMEs with Low-Mix, Low-Volume and High-Value products. To fulfil this purpose, three research questions were asked, [1] How can demand be forecasted during the industrialization of new products? [2] What factors influence inventory service levels and inventory carrying costs in SMEs with Low-Mix, Low-Volume and High-Value products? [3] How can influencing factors be accounted for when balancing inventory service levels and inventory carrying costs within SMEs with Low-Mix, Low-Volume and High-Value products? Methods The study relies on an embedded single-case study within a SME with LMLV-HV products, during the industrialization of new products. Qualitative and quantitative methods are used for data collection and analysis. The data collection consists of interviews, document studies and observations. Results Findings revealed the main methods used for forecasting demand during the industrialization of new products. Moreover, the main factors influencing ISL and ICC was found to be demand variability, forecast accuracy, internal and external lead-times and the trade-offs and strategic alignments within the company. Moreover, to account for these factors, item differentiation, buffer management and inventory strategy management was used to balance ISL with ICC. Analysis Through exploration of historical analogy in combination with judgement methods, demand for new products could be forecasted, whilst highlighting the need for continuous evaluation and adjustments. Furthermore, demand variability, lead-time variability and supply chain complexity were factors influencing ISL and ICC, emphasising the need for aligning inventory policies and key performing indexes (KPI). A process for strategic inventory management was developed, derived from the theoretical framework and through answering the research questions. Discussion Insights into how SMEs within the context of LMLV-HV products can navigate through the balance between ISL and ICC resulted in a practical process for strategic inventory management, derived from the three research questions and theoretical findings. This study provided practical implications through this process, acknowledging sustainability and theoretical findings. Conclusion The proposed process is conceptual, requiring implementation and evaluation within an organization to understand its effectiveness. Inventory management methods and processes exist within current literature, their applicability in the context of new product development and balancing ISL and ICC through strategic inventory management, is new.
The Power of Personalization : Investigating Spotify Wrapped’s Impact on User Engagement and Brand Advocacy
Background: AI’s rapid progress has disrupted digital marketing, enabling brands to deliver hyper-personalized experiences that resonate on psychological, behavioral, and social levels. This transformation is exemplified by Spotify Wrapped, which uses AI to curate personalized, end-of-year content that drives deep user engagement and widespread virality. Purpose: This study explores how AI-based personalization using Spotify Wrapped as a case study affects user engagement and brand advocacy. It investigates how personalized digital campaigns can strengthen brand–consumer relationships through emotional connection and social sharing. Method: A quantitative survey method was employed, collecting responses from a diverse demographic group (N = 100). The study tested hypotheses concerning perceived personalization, cognitive and affective engagement, social sharing, and brand advocacy using correlation analysis, regression models, and exploratory factor analysis. Conclusion: The findings reveal a strong, statistically significant association between AI-driven personalization and user engagement. Personalized, emotionally resonant, and socially shareable experiences like Spotify Wrapped significantly enhance brand advocacy and user loyalty. These results underscore the critical role of meaningful personalization in fostering organic brand growth in the digital age
Moisture-Safe Modular Construction – A Study on Secure Working Methods Throughout the Entire Building Process
Introduktion – Trä är ett miljövänligt och hållbart byggmaterial och i kombination med modulbyggnation skapas en effektiv och flexibel byggmetod. Dock medför trä utmaningar, särskilt gällande fukt, som kan leda till mögel, försämrad isolering och kortare livslängd. Tidigare forskning pekar på klimatpåverkan, bristande rutiner och kontroller som vanliga orsaker. Studien syftar till att föreslå förbättrade metoder och kvalitetskontroller för att minska fuktrisker. Metod – Studien är kvalitativ och bygger på intervjuer och dokumentstudier. Arbetet gjordes tillsammans med Videntes. Sex branschpersoner intervjuades och dokument som ByggaF och Fukthandbok för säker träbyggnadsproduktion analyserades. Intervjuerna var semistrukturerade och analyserades tematiskt. Resultat – Dokumentstudien framhåller väderskydd, materialhantering och dokumentation som avgörande för fuktsäkerhet. Intervjuerna bekräftar detta och lyfter vikten av planering vid transport och montage, samt behovet av egenkontroller, fuktmätningar och tydliga rutiner. Utbildning och erfarenhetsutbyte anses också viktigt. Analys – Fuktsäkerhet bör prioriteras i hela processen med tydlig planering, särskilt för väderskydd. Samarbete, utbildning och modulfabriksbesök stärker förståelsen, liksom ett branschforum för erfarenhetsutbyte. Väderskydd bör prissättas separat. Egenkontroller och uppföljning minskar fuktriskerna effektivt. Diskussion – Fuktsäkerhet i modulbyggnation kräver tidig planering och tydliga rutiner, särskilt för väderskydd och materialhantering. Väderskydd bör inkluderas redan i budgetskedet och virke ska lagras torrt och kontrolleras regelbundet. Utbildning, studiebesök och erfarenhetsutbyte lyfts fram som viktiga åtgärder för ökad kunskap i branschen. Egenkontroller, kontinuerliga fuktmätningar och platsuppföljning är avgörande för att upptäcka och åtgärda fuktproblem i tid. Studien visar att en genomtänkt fukthantering är både möjlig och lönsam, förutsatt att den prioriteras tidigt i processen

Syftet med den här studien är att bilda kunskap om förskollärares uppfattningar av teknikmålen i förskolans läroplan, samt deras beskrivningar av didaktiska val utifrån dessa uppfattningar. Studien har gjorts med en kvalitativ metodansats där sex fokusgruppsintervjuer analyserats tematiskt. I resultatet som visar förskollärares uppfattningar om läroplansmålen, betonas den aktiva närvarons betydelse för barns förmåga att tillägna sig kunskaper och färdigheter. Komplexiteten ligger dock i teknikens stora bredd och mångafacetterade karaktär. Förskollärare uppvisar en medvetenhet i sina didaktiska val, samt en vilja att förstå och skapa förutsättningar för barns lärande, men där en utmaning ligger i den balansgång som krävs mellan att utgå från barns intressen och att samtidigt förhålla sig till läroplansens strävansmål.
From Scroll to Support: An Investigation of the Role of Visual Communication in Mobilizing Action for Humanitarian Causes on Instagram in Sweden
For nonprofit humanitarian organizations, success in gathering support and donations increasingly depends on their ability to communicate visually and build emotional connections with their audience. On Instagram, where interactive features dominate, visual communication has become their primary tool to raise awareness, engage users, and prompt action. However, designing effective visual content requires balancing emotional impact, ethical considerations, and the challenges of attention-driven algorithms. Therefore, this study investigates how different visual communication strategies influence user interaction, emotional response and action-taking for humanitarian causes on Instagram in Sweden. Drawing on theories of visual rhetoric, semiotics, and behavioral response, this study employed a mixed-methods approach combining semi-structured interviews with user testing to examine how visual elements such as imagery, typography, color, and calls to action shape user engagement. Findings reveal that image-based posts featuring human subjects and strong visual contrast are most effective in capturing attention, making this a crucial first step in user engagement. However, attention alone did not drive users to act; it served as a necessary prerequisite for deeper engagement. The actual decision to engage was driven by emotional resonance, which was most strongly evoked by imagery portraying suffering, though its overuse risks causing emotional fatigue. The combination of emotional impact and cognitive clarity conveyed through text was key in motivating users to support a cause, with accessible calls to action further encouraging action when paired with organizational trust. The study concludes that effective humanitarian communication on Instagram relies on a three-step process: attention-grabbing visuals to capture interest, emotionally resonant storytelling to foster connection, and accessible action prompts to convert engagement into support. These insights provide practical recommendations for humanitarian NPOs seeking to optimize their visual communication strategies and mobilize support on Instagram
AI-assisted Wireframing: Comparing AI and Human Approaches to UX Wireframing : Evaluating Usability Through Heuristics and Cognitive Principles
With a focus on UI element placement and structural logic, this study looks into the differences between wireframes created by AI and those created manually. It is important to determine if AI technologies like Uizard improve or hinder the design process as they become more integrated into design workflows. This study used a qualitative research approach to explore how users interact with AI-assisted design tools versus manual wireframing. Through heuristic evaluations, screen/audio recordings, and post-task interviews with both experienced and novice designers, the research examined user experiences, cognitive load, and design decision-making based on principles like Hick’s Law and choice overload. The results showed that AI-generated wireframes often created clean and well-organized layouts that helped reduce choice overload and simplified user interaction. However, they also sometimes missed important details and required well-structured prompts to work effectively. Designer feedback showed that while AI tools like Uizard can speed up early design stages and offer inspiration, they still lack the deeper user understanding and creative flexibility found in manual designs. Overall, AI-assisted wireframing can serve as a useful starting point but still needs human input to achieve optimal usability. General terms such as heuristics and user-centered design that are used throughout this study are primarily judged through the lens of choice overload- and cognitive load (informed by Hick’s Law), speed of completing tasks, and subjective satisfaction
For whom, why & how : an improvement project and a case study on the significance and use of a standardized assessment method in quality improvement efforts within addiction care in social service
Socialtjänsten har det offentligas uppdrag att erbjuda medborgare stöd för mer jämlika levnadsvillkor. De insatser som erbjuds ska vara av god kvalitet och kvaliteten ska systematiskt följas upp och förbättras. Med utgångspunkt i förbättringsvetenskap belyser denna uppsats, genom ett förbättringsarbete och en studie, hur en standardiserade bedömningsmetod kan vara stöd för kvalitetsförbättring tillsammans med brukare i det sociala arbetets praktik. Där de strategiska frågeställningarna För vem? Varför? och Hur? kompletterar implementeringskunskap med förbättringskunskap. Förbättringsarbetet har genomförts inom missbruksvården i en medelstor kommun utifrån arbete med tre parallella förbättringar; en förtydligad processbeskrivning, tillvaratagande av data samt utrymme för dialog, reflektion och lärande. Studien har utforskat hur de socialsekreterare som använder den standardiserade bedömningsmetoden beskriver dess betydelse för kvalitet och vad som påverkar användning. En deskriptiv kvalitativ design med semistrukturerade enskilda intervjuer har varit utgångspunkt och insamlad data har analyserats induktivt med tematisk analys. Förbättringsarbetets och studiens sammantagna resultat visar att den standardiserade bedömningsmetoden har betydelse för kvalitetsförbättring vid en tillämpning avvägd mot brukarens situation och kontext. En felaktig användning riskerar det motsatta. Samskapande med möjlighet till dialog och reflektion beskrivs påverka professionens agerande i handlingsutrymmet. Uppsatsens slutsats är att kvalitetsförbättring för brukaren, utifrån användningen av en standardiserad bedömningsmetod, behöver förstås utifrån socialtjänstens evidensbaserade praktik där aspekter av såväl kvalitetssäkring som samskapande värderas integrativt.Social services have the public mission to enable citizens to get support for more equal living conditions. The interventions offered should be of good quality, and the quality should be systematically followed up and improved. Based on improvement science, this essay highlights, through improvement work and a study, how a standardized assessment method can support quality improvement together with citizensin social work practice. Where the strategic questions For whom? Why? and How? complement implementation knowledge with improvement knowledge. The improvement work has been carried out within substance abuse care in a medium-sized municipality based on three parallel improvements: a clarified process description, use of data and opportunity for dialogue, reflection and learning. The study has explored how the social workers who use the standardized assessment method describe its importance for quality and what affects use. A descriptive qualitative design with semi-structured individual interviews was used and collected data was analyzed inductively with thematic analysis. The combined results of the improvement work and the study show that a standardized assessment method is important for quality improvement when applied and balanced against the citizens situation and context. Incorrect use risks the opposite. Coproduction, with opportunities for dialogue and reflection, influence the profession's actions in application. The essay concludes that quality improvement for the citizens, based on the use of a standardized assessment method, needs to be understood from the social services' evidence-based practice, where aspects of both quality assurance and coproduction are valued integrativel
“The difficult balancing act” : A qualitative study of preschool teachers and children's perceptions about adult participation in play at preschool.
Studiens syfte har varit att synliggöra förskollärares och barns uppfattningar av de vuxnas medverkan i leken på förskolan. Frågeställningen som har besvarats i studien är: Hur resonerar förskollärare och barn om de vuxnas medverkan i leken på förskolan? För att besvara frågeställningen har en kvalitativ ansats tillämpats genom fokusgrupper och gruppsamtal. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten för studien är fenomenografi, där de centrala begreppen uppfattningar och variation har varit ledande i analysarbetet. Resultatet synliggör förskollärares och barns uppfattningar av de vuxnas medverkan i leken på förskolan. Det tyder på att förskollärarna har uppfattningen om att de kan använda leken som ett lärande sammanhang men att det dock finns en viss oro att träda in i tron om att styra eller påverka den pågående leken. Det antyder att det är en svår balansgång mellan att värna om lekens egenvärde samtidigt som det framkommer ett flertal aspekter som kan påverka förskollärarnas medverkan i barns lek, exempelvis tid, situation och barnets ålder. Barnens uppfattningar tyder på att de visar en förståelse för lekens positiva effekt och att de vissa tillfällen vill ha med förskollärarna i leken. Samtidigt framträder en uppfattning i resultatet som delas av både förskollärare och barn och det är att rolleken som innehåller tydliga regler ses som en naturlig plats för dem att mötas.
Visualixing Medical Data : A study in visual encodings of prescription adherence data
In healthcare an ever increasing amount of data is being collected and as such, the need for clinicians anddoctors to get an overview of that data is also increasing. Previous research has pointed out the need ofvisualizing healthcare data to gain new insights and streamline work processes. Current solutions arelimited especially in the context of visualizing patient prescription adherence. This research exploresthe use of visualizations in health care by creating an artifact to visualize patient prescription adherence.Through a thematic qualitative analysis of feedback from medical experts this study aimed to discover howvisual encodings and juxtapositioning of data can be used to support understanding of large datasets in themedical field. This study found that by displaying the medical event data as a heatmap it is comprehensibleand precise enough to aid in clinical decision and by juxtaposing the data it can aid in analysis of deviationsand pattern recognition across patients
CodeXView : Leveraging LLMs for Automated Class Collaboration Diagram Generation
This thesis introduces CodeXView a visualization tool designed to bridge the gap between raw source code and developers' mental picture by automatically generating Class Collaboration Diagrams using a Large Language Model. The CodeXView prototype has been developed as a Visual Studio Code extension in JavaScript to enable easy integration into workflows. CodeXView parses a codebase into an abstract syntax tree via Tree-sitter, then it's converted into PlantUML code through OpenAI's LLM-o1 reasoning model. This generates the Class Collaboration Diagrams that capture runtime class interactions. To assess the effectiveness of Class Collaboration Diagrams, participants completed a survey involving analyzing two state machine codebases, one accompanied by a diagram and one without. We evaluated their responses to measure both the accuracy of their understanding and the analysis completion time. Although we expected the diagram to enhance comprehension and reduce analysis time, the results showed no significant improvement. A separate evaluation was conducted to assess the accuracy of the LLM generated diagrams. By generating diagrams and subjecting them to a two-stage validation process: an automated structural check and a manual semantic review. The results showed that diagram accuracy could not be ensured and that the same was true for diagram accuracy over time.However, the tool can process seven programming languages in under 30 milliseconds per file, demonstrating robust cross-language applicability. Although the current iteration falls short of practical use without humans' oversight, this work establishes a foundation for automated diagram generation using LLMs. It also identifies key areas for improvement, including prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and exploration of alternative diagram types
