From British Elegance to Exuberant Modernism : A Case Study on Jaguar's Radical Repositioning and its Influence on Attitudinal Loyalty of Jaguar Car Owners

    No full text
Background: In November 2024, the car brand Jaguar announced its radical repositioning. The brand known for British heritage is now presenting itself as “Fearless. Exuberant. Compelling.” including a logo change, new color scheme and shift to selling purely electric vehicles. This change has triggered diverse reactions from the public. Purpose: Controversial opinions of the public raise the question of how Jaguar’s current customers are affected by the brand’s radical shift. Hence, the purpose of the present research is to explore how the radical repositioning of the brand Jaguar affects the attitudinal loyalty of Jaguar owners. To connect the different theoretical concepts of this study, a conceptual model is created. Method: This research follows an interpretivist philosophy with a subjectivist ontology. 20 semi-structured interviews with Jaguar owners from Sweden and Germany are conducted online following an exploratory approach. An interview guide is created close to the conceptual model ensuring appropriate data collection. Furthermore, the collected data is thematically analysed. In this context, codes are gathered into categories, categories into sub-themes and subthemes into five final themes. Conclusion: As attitudinal loyalty of Jaguar owners towards the brand Jaguar is built on a deep emotional connection, it is still prominent after the radical repositioning. Although many participants perceive a deviation of the brand from the core values uniqueness and British heritage through the radical repositioning, the emotional connection to the brand persists. This persistence is mainly due to the strong tie to Jaguar through the Jaguar Clubs and the durability of the old cars continuously representing Jaguar’s original values. However, the changing user experience due to the shift to electric cars complicates the connection to the new models. All in all, this research shows that value alignment, brand community and user experience are vital factors to consider when aiming to maintain attitudinal loyalty of current customers when radically repositioning a brand

Exploring Swedish Perceptions on Post-Mortem Digital Data Management: Insights into Digital Legacy and Stewardship

    No full text
This study explores the perceptions of Swedish individuals regarding the management of post-mortem digital data, focusing on control, privacy concerns, and attitudes toward digital inheritance and stewardship responsibilities. As digital interactions become increasingly integral to daily life, the handling of digital legacies after death presents significant privacy and ethical challenges. Despite Sweden’s advanced technological landscape, there is a notable lack of legal frameworks addressing post-mortem data management, placing the responsibility on the individual to plan for their digital afterlife. Through qualitative research methods, including semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, this study investigates how Swedish individuals perceive the planning and control of their digital legacies and their willingness to act as stewards for others’ digital assets. The findings reveal that while many recognize the importance of managing digital legacies, proactive planning is uncommon, pointing to the “post-mortem privacy paradox”. Additionally, the study underscores the influence of interpersonal relationships on the willingness to assume the role of a steward. This study contributes valuable insights into the discussion on post-mortem data management in Sweden, offering recommendations for individuals and authorities to better navigate this area. This study also highlights potential directions for future research, including using quantitative methods to capture broader results in a Swedish context, such as examining differences between demographics or the impact of technical knowledge on digital legacy planning. Future studies could focus on the lack of awareness surrounding this topic and explore the experiences of individuals who have managed digital legacies, either voluntarily or involuntarily

    No full text
Despite the implementation of Cancer care Pathways, long waiting times for diagnosis persist in several malignancy processes. A quality improvement initiative was initiated between the pathology laboratory and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology in Region Jönköping, with the goal of ensuring that patients with suspected head/neck malignancy receive a prescheduled appointment for diagnosis in connection with tissue sampling. A previous improvement project had been conducted in the context of prostate malignancy, therefore in parallel, a study was carried out to explore cancer patients with suspected prostate malignancy ‘experiences of this approach, as well as their healthcare professional’s perspectives. The quality improvement project aimed to enable prescheduled appointment of diagnosis by reducing lead timed in the care process. The quality improvement initiative was based on the use of improvement science tools to map and identify bottlenecks in the care process. The study was conducted as an exploratory, inductive survey study containing both quantitative and qualitative questions. The improvement work resulted in shorter lead times; however, due to systematic challenges, it has not yet been possible to fully guarantee a prescheduled appointment for diagnosis at the time of tissue sampling. The patient survey revealed five main categories, with a sense of security and clarity emerging as dominant themes. The staff survey identified four main categories where work environment and suggestions for improvement were most prominent. A structured and interprofessional quality improvement approach has the potential to optimize the care process, reduce lead times, and enable planning of diagnosis appointments already during sampling. Continued development of routines addressing the systematic challenges and dissemination of the working method are essential steps toward improving the work environment for healthcare staff and moving toward more person-centered care.

The Role of Social Influence and Planned Behavior in Online Purchase Intention: A Study on Black Friday Consumers in Türkiye

    No full text
Abstract Background: The rapid expansion of e-commerce and online marketing has fundamentally changed the way individuals shop around the world. One of the best examples of such adaptation is Black Friday, a long-standing retail tradition in Western countries but only recently introduced in Türkiye, and with it comes a number of cultural and psychological dynamics. Social and psychological factors, particularly peer influence, social media engagement, and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), are increasingly prominent in explaining online consumer behavior in time-pressured campaigns. However, in the Turkish context, academic research on how such social influences coexist with purchase intention is still limited. Purpose: This study aims to examine the social factors that affect the purchasing intentions of online consumers in Turkey during the Black Friday period. Specifically, it investigates the role of peer influence, FOMO, and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) components (attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control). By bringing together Social Impact Theory and TPB, the study provides a holistic view of how these two approaches work together in a non-Western e-commerce context. Method: The study adopted a quantitative and cross-sectional design, and data were collected through purposive and snowball sampling. Participants consisted of 296 people in Türkiye who had previously shopped online during Black Friday. The questionnaire included statements adapted from previously validated scales to measure the constructs of FOMO, peer influence, attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability and validity analyses, correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression. Conclusion: The analyses show that FOMO, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and attitude have significant effects on purchase intention. FOMO stands out as the strongest predictor, while peer influence is only marginally significant. These findings demonstrate that TPB and Social Impact Theory can be applied together in the digital retail context of Türkiye and provide valuable insights for marketers who want to increase consumer trust and participation, especially during campaign periods such as Black Friday

The findings indicate that Ripple significantly reduces transaction costs and settlement times by eliminating intermediaries. This thesis contributes to the ongoing research on digital transformation in finance and provides insights for more efficient cross-border solutions

Balancing Sustainability and Profitability: Telecom Industry Responses to the European Green Deal

    No full text
Background:The European Green Deal (EGD), Implemented 2019 is putting increasing pressure on major telecom companies like Telia and Ericsson, who run energy-intensive networks, to work sustainable and towards the EGD directives and goals while maintaining profitability. Purpose:This research explores how these companies balance sustainability and profitability under the EGD’s regulatory, and stakeholder demands. This research implements two research questions to answer this: To what extent do businesses balance sustainability goals and profitability when implementing the European Green Deal?  How do telecom businesses adopt sustainable practices under the European Green Deal without compromising financial viability? Method:Legitimacy Theory and Institutional Logics served as the theoretical foundation for the qualitative multiple-case approach that was used. Additionally, Financial declarations, annual and sustainability reports also supported the claims made about Telia and Ericsson. Lastly, six semi-structured interviews with Telia and Ericsson professionals that work with sustainability or finance or both, were the sources of the primary data. Conclusion:Results showed that while sustainability initiatives have short-term costs associated with compliance, network upgrades, and expected carbon price, they also have long-term benefits, such as increased energy efficiency and stakeholder trust. By incorporating ESG goals into financial projections, issuing green bonds, and tying managers' incentives to decarbonization benchmarks, Telia and Ericsson lessen this conflict. The findings can serve as a reference for other regulated companies dealing with comparable sustainability requirements and show how institutional pressures propel strategic adaptation

From Compliance To Capacity: How Municipally Owned Companies Navigate The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. : A Qualitative Study On Corporate Adaptation: Municipality-Owned Companies Navigating CSRD Compliance.

    No full text
Background: The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) represents a significant shift in how sustainability is governed and communicated within the European Union. While the directive primarily targets the corporate and financial sectors, its reach extends to publicly owned entities, including municipally owned companies (MOBs). Purpose: This study examines how Swedish municipally owned businesses are responding to the CSRD, focusing on how they interpret, implement, and adapt to the directive’s requirements. Method: Adopting an inductive research approach, the study used semi-structured interviews with 11 professionals from different municipally owned companies across Sweden. Our interviewees carry different organizational roles such as the sustainability officers, financial managers, sustain-ability strategists, and environmental experts which are responsible for sustainability reporting, financial oversight, and strategic development. Thematic analysis was applied to identify patterns related to organizational capacity, regulatory interpretation, and behavioral responses. Conclusion: The findings reveal that subject knowledge and role clarity significantly influence how MOBs interpret and apply CSRD requirements. Key barriers include limited internal expertise, reliance on consultants, and technological inefficiencies. While some companies adopt strategic planning and project group models, others engage in symbolic compliance due to resource limitations and policy uncertainty. This study contributes to understanding the readiness and capacity of the public sector in adapting to evolving sustainability regulations and highlights the need for targeted support to bridge knowledge and resource gaps

ESG and The Petroleum Industry – Is there an Advantage : A quantitative study concerning the impact of ESG ratings on the financial performance of European petroleum companies

    No full text
Background: Sustainability has emerged as a vital and pressing issue for both investors, corporate leaders, and policy makers. Sectors previously not exposed to sustainability matters, such as the petroleum industry, are now expected to toe the line in Europe. At the same time, the petroleum industry is one of the largest sectors worldwide and accounts for a significantportion of greenhouse gas emissions. Given this, and the mixed empiricism about financial performance and sustainability, this paper seeks to answer if the European petroleum industry benefits from sustainability and ESG practices in the form of financial reward. Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between ESG ratings and financial performance in European petroleum firms due to the changing legislative environment, growing importance of sustainability matters among policy makers and due to previously mixed results in other papers. Financial performance is measured through return on capital employed (ROCE) and Tobin´s Q. Method: This paper uses a quantitative method using secondary data from the Refinitiv Eikon database. The collected sample data were gathered for the years 2020-2021 and includes 30 companies. The data was gathered using Refinitiv Eikon and cleaned through Excel before being analysed in SPSS. The data is analysed through different OLS regression models and with a Pearson correlation matrix. Findings: No significant correlations are found between ESG ratings and ROCE or Tobin’s Q.Positive correlations are however found between ROCE and the ESG pillars of Environmentaland Social. Conclusion: The conclusions drawn is that within the petroleum industry, the investments in ESG does not significantly correlate positively with financial performance. This is further supported by shareholder theory, stating that the major focus of a company is to generate profits to its shareholders. While most of the alternative hypotheses were rejected, the Social and Environmental factors from the ESGC had a positive correlation with ROCE
