A New Wave of Anti-Racism in Europe?
This open access book provides a way to understand the current manifestations of anti-racism in Europe, including changes that became particularly visible with the Black Lives Matter related protests beginning in May 2020. The so-called ‘new' anti-racism is often described as being led by racialized minorities themselves, foregrounding structural racism, and drawing connections between contemporary racism and the colonial past. But are these features truly new? And can we speak of a new 'wave' of anti-racism, and what does wave-thinking clarify or obscure? The chapters in this volume explore anti-racist struggles and practices across a range of European contexts, tracing both change and continuity over time. They illuminate how several features of antiracism, now considered distinctive - including the leadership by racialized minorities, have deep roots, though they were pushed to the margins, unrecorded or silenced by the mainstream. Today, these voices are beginning to rise, echoing -sometimes modestly - in the centre. By providing a solid empirical portrait of current and past anti-racist movements in different parts of Europe, this book is a vital resource for students and scholars of race, anti-racism and migration in Europe, as well as for activists and policy-makers navigating the evolving terrain of anti-racist thought and action
Murdered in Bethel?

Governance without Government in the MENA Region
This open access volume offers a timely and original contribution to scholarships in the Middle East and North Africa by focusing on governance and public policy in post-conflict contexts. Unlike works that center primarily on conflict and geopolitics, Governance without Government examines how authority is exercised in fragmented and transitional settings. Drawing on diverse case studies, the book explores informal governance, hybrid institutions, and the evolving roles of state and non-state actors across the MENA region. Each chapter of the book delves into specialized and focused realms, presenting a lucid, cohesive, and compelling narrative. Tailored to cater to upper-level undergraduates and postgraduates specializing in the politics, international relations, and political economy of the MENA region, it also offering valuable insights for research degrees homing in on country-specific or thematic case studies. The interdisciplinary and international appeal ensures its relevance on reading lists globally, extending beyond North America and the United Kingdom. Setting itself apart in terms of originality and composition, this book stands out amid a decade since the Arab Spring, distinguishing itself from a limited pool of comparable titles. The amalgamation of empirical and theoretical approaches enhances its worth, rendering it an indispensable resource for policy-oriented graduate students, researchers, and professionals immersed in or focusing on the MENA region and Africa. The chapters carve out new territory, both conceptually and empirically, offering insights that are not only groundbreaking but also highly applicable in navigating the intricate landscapes of governance in conflict-affected areas. As the MENA region confronts novel policy challenges, our book encapsulates a snapshot of case studies and the wellspring of policy-relevant concepts and ideas. Addressing lingering issues post-2011, it lays the groundwork for these regions to progress in a more sustainable manner. "Governance without Government" transcends by being a mere book; it evolves into a guide for comprehending and shaping the future of governance within the ever-changing landscape of the MENA region. About the Editor: Moosa Elayah is Associate Professor of Public Administration at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. His work focuses on governance, civil society, and post-conflict institutional development in the MENA region
Activating Fluxus, Expanding Conservation
This is the first book to address the care and preservation of Fluxus works, reimagining the afterlife of Fluxus by positioning conservation as an evolving, interpretive and generative framework. Fluxus radically transformed artistic practice by challenging the entrenched preconception that artworks endure, unchanged and confined to a singular physical manifestation. Moving beyond conventional, object-based approaches, this interdisciplinary volume brings together artists, scholars, conservators and curators from diverse cultural and theoretical perspectives to explore how the ephemeral, participatory and intermedial forms of Fluxus demand an expanded vision of conservation—one grounded in activation. By reframing conservation as a critical, decolonial and creative inquiry, Activating Fluxus, Expanding Conservation redefines Fluxus as a living force continually remade through acts of care, interpretation and participation. It ultimately calls for a fundamental shift in how we preserve, interpret and transmit the experimental art practices of the recent past. Offering fresh ways to engage with the legacy of Fluxus through the intersecting lenses of conservation, art history, performance studies and museology, this book will appeal to academics and students across these fields, as well as to curators and practitioners invested in the futures of contemporary art. Comparative Studies on Chinese and Western Civilizations
This open access book compares Chinese and Western civilizations from multiple perspectives, and it mainly consists of three parts that respectively compare the Warring States and ancient Greece, the Qin and Han dynasties and ancient Rome, and the Central Plains of China and the Western Roman Empire in the face of incursions from neighboring ethnic groups. It explores the inner logic behind the different development paths of Chinese and Western civilizations, making a significant contribution to promoting communication and dialogue between the two. This book is of great help for scholars, students, and general readers interested in the comparative study of civilizations, as well as those seeking to foster cross-cultural understanding and dialogue
Energy Transformation in Lithuania
This open access Brief investigates the issue of energy transformation in small countries without their own fossil resources. Using Lithuania as a case study, the Brief analyses energy transformation from both a municipal and regional perspective, outlining the reasons for pursuing energy transformation, the main constraints that exist, and proposing practical methodologies for assessing local energy potential. The chapters focus on real-world challenges, including political barriers and competence gaps, while also making concrete policy recommendations and offering models for energy transformation in regional areas. Filling a critical gap in the discourse on municipal energy transformation, this Brief will be of interest to scholars, researchers, and policymakers in the fields of energy policy, regional development, and sustainability as well as professionals in municipal governance, energy sector decision-makers, and private sector stakeholders interested in decentralized energy solutions
Climate Justice in Action
Available open access digitally under CC-BY-NC-ND licence. Mathematical Foundations for Post-Quantum Cryptography
This open access book presents mathematical foundations for cryptography securely used in the era of quantum computers. In particular, this book aims to deepen the basic mathematics of post-quantum cryptography, model the strongest possible attacks such as side-channel attacks, and construct cryptographic protocols that guarantee security against such attacks. This book is a sequel of the successful book entitled by ``Mathematical Modeling for Next-Generation Cryptography - CREST Crypto-Math Project'' which was published in 2018. The book is suitable for use in an advanced graduate course in mathematical cryptography and as a reference book for experts
