    Study of Teaching Material to Learn Microcomputer through Practical Exercise

    publisherIn recent years, it has been discussed how to teach the mechatronics to beginner students. In this field of education, hand-making practice attracts our attentions as the effective method. Through the hand-making practice, the students would be able to go through the all important process of mechatronics, such as designing sensor device, interface circuit, control program and so on. As this kind of education, the author introduced the teaching program that was the remodelirig exercise of a toy model into the autonomous mobile robot by using microcomputer. During this exercise, the students will be able to see the configuration of the all system in perspective. This paper discusses the meaning of using the toy model, and author shows the trial results applied to the experiment in the Advanced Mechanical and Control System Engineering Course and the preliminary exercise of graduation study.departmental bulletin pape

    Summary of Staff Meeting for Educational Improvement

    publisherWe have decided to make use of the ideas put forward during the staff meeting of 2001 regarding dormitory issues. Previously, the results from similar meetings have often been filed away and forgotten, leading to the repetition of discussions. At the meeting of 2001, the following four issues were discussed: ① problems during night duty, ② problems concerning the system of extended stay in the dormitory, ③ exchange of the residents with other colleges, ④ benefits of the resident/teacher cooperation system.     A study of the stability of blind source separation algorithm

    publisherThis paper descirbe the stabihty analysis of the algorithm for the blind separation ciurcuit which is to be used to avoid the infiuence of near-end speech in the echo canceller system. The alogrithm was proposed by H,Jutten et al, but they have not considered the stability of it. They have proposed the two type of algorithm. The first one using the 3rd and lst order statistics is not stable in the usual case of source signal and mixing system. The seconde one use the lst and 3rd order statistics, and the algorithm is stable. The stability of the second algorithm is ensured by the computer simulation in some case.departmental bulletin pape

    Interfacial Reaction of Aluminum Borate Whisker Reinforced Aluminum Alloy Composite

    publisherThis study deals with the interfacial reaction of aluminum borate whisker reinforced aluminum alloy composite prepared by squeeze casting process. By means of transmission electron microscopy(TEM) observation,it has been found interfacial reaction occurred under the as cast condition.This reaction produced the spinel(MgAl2O4).As composites were reheated under various conditions,it has been found interfacial reaction occurred and grown of the spinel was proportional to reheated time and temperature.However growth rate of the spinel in the composites reheated in argon or in air was the same.By means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM)observation,it has been found that aluminum alloy reacted with the whisker, therefore the whisker deteriorated and Mg contents in the aluminum alloy matrix decreased. The effects of interfacial reaction on the mechanical properties of the composite were studied with the bending test and micro-vickers hardness test.As a result,the whisker deteriorated decreased the bending strength,but did not decrease the micro-vickers hardness of the composite.departmental bulletin pape

    Study on Effective Utilization of Bamboo Resourees\nConsidering Environmental Problem

    publisherThe regenerative capacity of bamboo is very high and bamboo is noticed from the viewpoint of effective utilization of resources. Recently, bamboo charcoa1 has been produced everywhere in Japan, in what has beeome a bamboo charcoal boom. However, there are few research reports on bamboo charcoal. ln this study, the fundamental properties of bamboo charcoal, including the humiclity control capacity under different carbonizing conditions, were compared with those of wood charcoal. The results were obtained as follows. 1)Ash content in bamboo charcoal is about 4 times greater than that of wood charcoai. 2) There is good correlation, regardless of the wood species, between carbonization temperature and electrical resistance, and it is possible to estimate the   carbonization temperature in the traditional charcoal furnace. 3)The pH of wood charcoal changes from alkaline to acid with the nise in the carbonization temperature, but the pH of bamboo charcoal maintained its alkalinity regardless of the carbonization temperature. The quantity of ash, K and Mg content in bamboo charcoa1 seems to be related to the pH. 4)The humidity control capacity in the high humidity region of barnboo charcoal is better than wood charcoal.departmental bulletin pape

    Damping of the Shallow-Water Soliton incident upon the air pump room - a case of that two air pump rooms are connected in series -

    publisherIn this paper, dissipated wave energy, that is, output energy of the wave power device of a shallow-water soliton runs into the two air pump rooms connected in series is described. By assuming the attenuation power proportional to average speed of vertical direction of wave surface, the air pump rooms are replaced by three barriers. The basic equation in case of one air pump room is established, and this basic equation is extended and is used for this research. The effeet of the width L of the air pump rooms, which is a parameter of this basic equation, is analyzed numericaliy, and the dissipated energy characteristic curve of a shallow-water soliton is plotted.departmental bulletin pape

    A Study of CO2 Gas Absorption into and Desorption from Aqueous Blends of Alkalis and Amines

    publisherThe rates of absorption and desorption of CO2 gas in solution were investigated by blowing CO2 gas and N2 gas into various aqueous blends of alkalis and amines through an upward glass nozzle. It was found that the monoethanolamine(MEA) solution or the mixed solution of alkaline metal salt and MEA increased the absorption rate of CO2 gas, and that the mixed solution of alkaline metal salt and triethanolamine(TEA) increased the desorption rate of CO2 gas. Therefore, it is expected that the use of the aqueous blends of MEA and TEA solution would increase the absorption rate and the desorption rate of CO2 gas.departmental bulletin pape

    Fabrication of the Superconducting Bulk with Tri-layer Structures

    publisherMelt-processed YBa2Cu3Oy,(Y123) superconductors are highly attractive for bulk applications, such as strong superconducting bulk magnets. Phase diagram shows a peritectic point at about 1010℃ where Y2BaCuO5(Y211), a liquid and Y123 coexist. We have investigated the diffusion in both the Y123 and Y211 systems using the partial melting. We put the Y123 superconducting bulk between the Y211 bulks. The conditlons of partial melting were 1040℃-5 minutes. As the result, we could have the Y211 film in the Y123 superconducting bulk named two layer structures. Furthermore we put the two layer structures between Y123 bulks and condition of repartial melting were 1040℃-5minutes. This process is possible to produce tri-layer structures. It was shown that levitating force in this superconducting bulk by meissner effect had a higher than one in the Y123 superconductor without Y211 film at 77K.departmental bulletin pape
