Educational Evaluation of Student at Junior Doctor Science School of Tsuyama College
publisherThe Junior Doctor Science School is a project developed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency, and seeks out elemen-tary and junior high school students with high motivation and outstanding ability to develop outstanding human resources who will lead future science and technology innovation. The purpose is to discover junior high school students and develop and im-plement a systematic training plan to encourage their abilities through learning in the fields of science and mathematics and infor-mation. Tsuyama College has been adopted for this project and has been working on it since 2018. Since the purpose of the Junior Doctor Science School is to develop and implement human resource development programs, it is necessary to set goals for human resource development and to measure and evaluate the ability growth of students. In this report, we report the results of learning evaluation using a rubric for 75 students enrolled in the first phase program from 2019 to 2021.departmental bulletin pape
Analysis of Student Learning Awareness by Text Mining using Natural Language Processing Technology ― Learning at Junior Doctor Science School of Tsuyama College ―
publisherThe Junior Doctor Science School (hereafter, JDSS) is a project developed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (hereafter, JST). Tsuyama College was adopted in 2018 and is working on this project. JDSS seeks out elementary and junior high school students with high motivation and outstanding abilities and trains their abilities through learning in the fields of science and mathematics and information, with the aim of encouraging outstanding human resources who will lead future science and technolo-gy innovation. Since the purpose of JDSS is to develop and implement human resource development programs, we have set goals for human resource development. It is necessary to measure and evaluate the growth of abilities. We are working on diverse learning evaluations using portfolios and worksheets at each stage of diagnostic, formative, and comprehensive stages. Since this project is the final year to receive support from JST, what did the students who have learned at our JDSS so far feel from what they have learned and what will they aim for in the future. In this report, we report on the results of analysis from a descriptive questionnaire on the changes of learning awareness budding in the minds of students.departmental bulletin pape
An examination of the judgement of the UK Supreme Court on the case of Susan Smith with reference to the Iraq Inquiry (the Chilcot Report)
publisherThe purpose of this study is to examine the judgement of the UK Supreme Court on the case of Susan Smith with reference to the contents of the Iraq Inquiry (the Chilcot Report). The UK Supreme Court judgement on the case of Susan Smith was handed down on 19th June 2013. One of the issues of the case was a violation of a soldier’s Right to Life on the battle field. The Iraq Inquiry was chaired by Sir John Chilcot, and inquired into the Government’s role in the Iraq War in great detail. The Inquiry was announced in 2009 by the Prime Minister and published in 2016. Did the UK Government do everything it could to protect the soldier’s the Right to Life?departmental bulletin pape
State of Exception and Dictatorship ― Benjamin, Schmitt, and Heidegger ―
publisherThe legal scholar Carl Schmitt developed his theory of dictatorship in the Weimar Republic, where political instability and the state of exception were commonplace. Walter Benjamin once sent him a letter, which later became the subject of a scandal when it was published. There is also only one known letter from Martin Heidegger to Schmitt. Using this faint trace as a clue, this paper will discuss the relationship between these three thinkers. In other words, the purpose of this paper is to trace historically the reciprocal responses of Benjamin, Schmitt, and Heidegger in order to clarify how they thought about the state of exception and dictatorship, respectively.departmental bulletin pape
The Development of English Learning Board Games in Trans Exercise of All ProgramⅠ,Ⅱ
publisherIn 2016, NIT, Tsuyama College started incorporating cross-disciplinary classes into the curriculum. In the third and fourth years of the program, students gather across the four fields of specialization to work on a project based on a theme, utilizing their respective specialties to create something through collaborative work. This study is a practical report of board games development based on the theme of "English Learning Game and Software Development" established by the first author, Hitoshi Yamaguchi, in 2021 and the first semester of 2022.departmental bulletin pape
Analysis of English Literature from a Mathematical Perspective in Course “Trans Exercise of All Program Ⅰ・Ⅱ and Its Educational Effects”
publisherThis research attempts to analyze literary expressions in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland from numerical and mathematical aspects such a speed, mass, and tesseract movement. One of Carrol’s titles was mathematician, and he has worked as a mathematics lecturer at Oxford University. Because of this background, his literary works contain mathematical elements. This paper presents specific calculation formulas and processes for the events, and analyzes the events of the story from a mathematical viewpoint, including basic concepts and properties. This paper focuses on “Alice’s fall,” “the amount of Alice’s tears,” and “Alice’s existence from the viewpoint of the tesseract movement.”departmental bulletin pape
Fundamental Characteristics of Non-power Displacement Reduction Mechanism using Magnetic Force
publisherIn this research, we reviewed the existing link mechanism and proposed a displacement reduction mechanism using magnetic force. This mechanism consists of a single body and can reduce the movement of the fingertips of the order of centimeters to the order of micrometers without electric power. And it has a structure that makes it difficult for camera shake to be transmitted. We have examined the fundamental characteristics of this mechanism and how to adjust the characteristics of the generated displacement, the reduction rate of in the displacement, and the generated force in order to accommodate various microscopic works.departmental bulletin pape
Basic Development of Automatic Control System for Electric Equipment by Applying small Computers
publisherIn order to achieve the comfortable life, automatic control system for electric equipment is tried to be developed in this study. For example, when a worker comes back to his home, the system will turn on an air conditioner according to the distance between the worker and the home. Two small computer sets named as “Raspberry Pi” are adopted in this study. One computer set has the GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and it sends his position information via short message on the Twitter. Another computer set has an IR (infrared) learning controller and it controls electronic equipment after receiving the message based on the distance. Two computer sets are connected through the internet.departmental bulletin pape
The Visualization Tool Developed for Improving the Understanding of Transient Phenomena and Validation of its Effectiveness.
publisherThe purpose of this study was to improve the understanding of transient phenomena by holding a workshop. The workshop uses the visualization tool we have developed, which can check the temporal variation of voltage and the voltage at each measurement time by using a tablet device. In the workshop, it was confirmed that the students’ motivation and understanding were improved. However, we found there were some problems such as the content of the workshop and the way to use of the visualization tool.departmental bulletin pape
User Authentication for BYOD with Smart Power Supply
publisherBYOD PCs are student-managed and it is not authenticated by server on the school network. When a network trouble is occurred by the BYOD PC, administrators cannot investigate the reason because they don’t know who is using the network. This is a serious problem about information security. To solve the above problem, a smart power supply system for the PCs was developed in this study. The system consisted of a controller computer, an IC card reader and some smart plugs. The PCs were connected to the smart plugs and they were supplied under contorting by the smart plugs with application programs for smart phones. The IC card reader could authenticate the students with their student card. The Raspberry Pi was adopted as the controller computer.departmental bulletin pape
