    Light Curve Analysis of the Semi-Detached Binary System IU Per

    publisherA new photoelectric light curve of the IU Per is presented. The IU Per is a short period eclipsing binary and was observed in 2018. The IU Per is a less-studied star. To obtain the absolute value rather than the ratio of physical quantities, radial velocity due to spectroscopic data is required. However, such data is difficult to obtain, even with a 1-meter diameter telescope. Therefore, we try to incorporate the scale from similar stars’ data instead of radial velocity. Physical quantities of the IU Per were computed using the analysis software PHOEBE (physics of eclipsing binaries), which implements the Wilson-Devinney code. Results reveal that the IU Per is a semidetached system with the less-massive component filling its Roche lobe.departmental bulletin pape

The Junior Doctor Science School seeks out elementary and junior high school students with high motivation and outstanding abilities, and trains their abilities through learning in the fields of science and mathematics and information, with the aim of encouraging outstanding human resources who will lead future science and technology innovation. In this project, a student mentor system is established as an important element that constitutes the systematic training program of this project. Since we started our efforts in 2018, we have been improving the student mentor system. The Junior Doctor Science School seeks out elementary and junior high school students with high motivation and outstanding abilities and trains their abilities through learning in the fields of science and mathematics and information, with the aim of encouraging outstanding human resources who will lead future science and technology innovation. In this project, a student mentor system is set up for the purpose of supporting students during the course. Student mentors are more than just experimental assistants, they play the role of counseling, guidance, and advice, and they are closer to the students. In addition, student mentor activities are being developed not only to support students but also to contribute to the career development of student mentors themselves as part of student education. For this reason, the purpose of the student mentor system is clearly stated as guidelines so that mentor management can be systematically performed.
