PRELIMINARY STUDY ON ARC WELDING IN VACUUM
Get PDFpublisherA preliminary study on arc welding in vacuum was performed. For weld test, two kinds of work pieces to be welded (welding piece) were prepared, one of which is a pair of pipes and another one is a set of screw/nut. A rod that has round tip was used for the arcing electrode. All welding pieces and arcing electrode ware made of stainless steel. Approx. 3 kA pulsed-arc current with duration of about 10 ms is fed from a power supply of a LC circuit (135μH/0.04F/550V) with a crowbar diode. Arcs is ignited by separating the arcing electrode (cathode) from the welding pieces (anode) in the weld test. The set of screw/nut seemed to be welded satisfactorily while the pair of pipes failed. Arc appearance and trace of erosion on two welding pieces are investigated to compare the test result between them. The arc current should be lower than the threshold value for the anode-spot formation leading to severe erosion on the anode. Reproduction of Surface Oxides on the Pre-cleaned Surface of Artificial Graphite and Adsorption of Water Vapor Thereon
Get PDFpublisherGraphite has two types of surface, i.e., basal plane and prism plane. On the latter surface various kinds of surface oxides exist. Through heat treatments at high temperatures surface oxides are demolished into various gases that contain oxygen: the surface without oxygen, which is termed "cleaned" here, is thus obtained. Water molecules chemisorb onto carbon atoms at the periphery of such cleaned hexagon sheets of graphite, to reproduce surface oxides. The reproduced surface oxides also fill the role of physisorption site for water. The present authors have long been studying the adsorption of water on natural graphite. They used here artificial graphite as a sample for the first time, and examined the chemisorption and physisorption of water on the graphite. The results are compared with those obtained in the previous investigations. The present authors have found that the prevailing existence of CO-desorbing oxides on the artifician graphite keeps the isosteric heat of adsorption of water above the heat of liquefaction of water as in the case of the natural graphite.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on the Stable Control of Blind Source Separation

In this paper, the convergence speed and the statical performance of the separation circuit are presented. Then, a new method are proposed. The method varing the coefficient of updating to get the first convergence and good separation simultaneously. The method use a cumulant of the circuit output to know the convergence of the circuit. The method are compared to the performance of the usual system, The relation between the function form of getting the coefficient and the performance of the separation circuit is studied.
