    Get PDF
publisherThis paper proposes the eye-gaze input interface of a life support robot that is useful for improving the quality of life for the elderly and handicapped persons. This interface is easier to use for the heavily crippled persons. In this paper, the robot operation system including the proposed eye-gaze input interface is used to carry out the positioning task. The experimental results prove that proposed eye-gaze input interface is effective robot operation device for the crippled persons.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on Responces of Premixed Flames of Hydrogen, Methane and Propane having the same Adiabatic Flame Temperature to Flame Stretch

    Get PDF
publisherRecently, a development of the combustor having higher efficiency and being more clean has been required from the viewpoint of environmental problems. In a development process of such a combustor, computer simulation is an effective method for cost reduction. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is one of the simulation technique of Fluid Dynamics. In recent years, it is attracting a lot of attention in the reason which can reproduce unsteady phenomena. When LES is applied to the flow field with combustion phenomena, it is necessary to give an appropriate combustion model. The flamelet existing in a flow field is affected by hydrodynamic strain. Burning velocity of such stretched flame changes from the value of laminar burning velocity by molecular and thermal diffusion effects. However, the combustion model which can evaluate such an effect adequately is not suggested till now. In this study, a response of burning velocity concerning flame stretch is examined by chemical kinetics computations. Especially, from a point of view of engineering, investigations are performed for premixed flames of hydrogen, methane and propane having the same adiabatic flame temperature. As a result, it is clarified that sensitivities to flame stretch of burning velocity can be explained approximately with mixture properties and ratio of those. Furthermore, in some mixture conditions, it becomes clear that the critical Lewis number play an important role in estimation of response.departmental bulletin pape

Adsorption of Water, Nitrogen and Argon on Graphite treated with H(2)O(2).

    Get PDF
publisherNatural graphite pretreated in H(2)O(2)aq.soln. was measured volumetrically for its adsorption isotherms of H(2)O, N(2) and Ar and its gas contents of both H(2)O and CO(2) as well. The graphite thus pretreated was further pyrolyzed at 1000℃ and measured in the same way. The anomalies appeared in the adsorption isotherms were investigated comprehensively on the basis of the gas contents and the porosity estimated from the isotherms. It was eventually found that the H(2)O(2) oxidation diminished roughness in prism plane of the graphite to considerably reduce its surface area ; the pyrolysis after the oxidation raised the surface area nearly to a level of the original graphite before the oxidation. Such an increase in the surface area is conjectured due to cleavage of the graphite.departmental bulletin pape

Stability of water droplets floating on water surface

    Get PDF
publisherCollapse of water droplets floating on water surface and anti-bubbles is analyzed with a high speed video camera. Stability of the air film suspending the water droplet from water surface is discussed with a concept of surface energy. A micro hole in the air film will shrink and vanish spontaneously if the diameter of the hole is less than the film thickness, and the energy barrier of the bubble collapse is a function of square of film thickness. The air film that suspends the water droplet may be unexpectedly stable.departmental bulletin pape

Study on an Application of a Gradient of Temperature to a Simulation of Grain Growth

    Get PDF
publisherFor the purpose of schooling and technical training, it is helpful to visualize a phenomenon of grain growth. And many persons concerned pay attention to Monte Carlo simulation of grain growth, that is a simple but reasonable simulation method. Authors had developed the simulation system, which calculated a phenomenon of grain growth in parallel. In this article, we report a result of our survey of a way to apply a gradient of temperature to this system. As a result of the survey, we found the method that decided the probability of boundary of a crystal moving depending on temperature. We verified validity of this method by using results of simulation. And through trials of simulation, we got to know that simulation considering a gradient of temperature was faster than simulation in an isothermal situation.departmental bulletin pape

Analysis of Mutual Constraint of Deformation at Boundary During Elastic Deformation of Inhomogeneous Material

    Get PDF
publisherIn the elastic deformation of inhomogeneous materials such as polycrystals, the deformation behavior is affected by the mutual constraint of deformation at the boundary. In the present study, starting from the well-known constant stress model and the constant strain model, the effects of the boundary angle and Poisson's ratio are studied, where a model of inhomogeneous material composed of two grains having inclined boundary is adopted. Next, a new model of inhomogeneous material called “modified constant stress model” is introduced, in which the deformation is constrained at the boundary between two different materials. Especially, the effect of constraint of strain along the boundary inclined to the direction of applied stress is discussed. The problem is also numerically analyzed with the elastic finite element method and the two-dimensional model of inhomogeneous material having the inclined boundary. The results of numerical calculation are compared with the analytical results adopting the parameter representing deformation mode which is called “constraint ratio”.departmental bulletin pape

Student Evaluation to a New Curriculum in the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering

    Get PDF
publisherIn 2000, our curriculum was changed in Tsuyama national college of technology. We changed the course of study in many subjects then. And the overtime subjects were also set up so that students could study according to their interest. We wanted to know what comments students had about new curriculum, so we carried out questionnaires on 5th year-class of the department of electronics and computer engineering. They answered that many classes and fundamental experiments were difficult or boring, but advanced classes and practical experiments were interesting. Engineering experiments for 4th year-class, in which students could make choice of course, was especially highly estimated. And we could know that not less than half of students actively tackled graduation thesis. About overtime subjects, which was an eye-catcher of new curriculum, we could understand that students became aware of importance of these subjects, but they did not feel their efficacy.departmental bulletin pape

Study on an Improvement of Echo Canceller by using Blind Source Separation

    Get PDF
publisherWe have proposed the adaptive filter combined with the blind source separation circuit which improve the performance of echo cancelation at presence of speech signal. In this report, we present the convergence speed and the statical performance of the separation circuit. Then, we will propose a method using the correlation between the recieving signal and the separated signal. By adjusting the coefficient of separation circuit to increase or reduce the correlation, we can expect the better performance of separation circuit than usual.departmental bulletin pape
