The Judgments of UK Courts on "The Right of Life" In Armed Conflict outside its Territory No.2 The Case of Susan Smith
publisherThe main purpose of this study is to analyze the transition of the judgments of UK courts on its jurisdiction when they applied the European Convention of Human Rights, the positive obligations under the Right of Life which were argued at UK courts and a conflict between duty of care and combat immunity which were tried at UK courts too.departmental bulletin pape

Transport Characteristics of an Air Driven Valveless Pump
publisherThe investigation described in this paper was undertaken to clarify the transport characteristics of an air driven valveless pump. This valveless pump uses the fluidic diode instead of usual mechanical movable valve to rectify the flow. The author designed and produced a test machine of the valveless pump by using performance calculation method shown in the previous paper. As the results of the transport examination, the flow rate of the test valveless pump was 225ml/min and the volumetric efficiency was 26.8%. Those observed performance values agreed with the design values extremely well. So, the validity of the performance calculation method was able to be confirmed. Moreover, it has been understood that the influence of driving cycle number on volumetric efficiency was clarified, and it was appeared that the optimum cycle number was in existent.departmental bulletin pape
Effects of Aluminum and Niobium on Impact Properties of Ultra High-Strength TRIP-aided Bainitic Ferrite Steels
publisherThe influence of alloying additions on the impact properties of TRIP-aided bainitic ferrite steel (TBF steel) has been investigated extensively. It has been found that the addition of 0.5 mass% aluminum to a 0.2%C-1.5%Si-1.5%Mn (mass%) TBF steel increases the upper shelf Charpy impact absorbed energy while lowering the fracture appearance transition temperature. This is mainly attributed to the localized stress relaxation due to strain-induced transformation of the fine and carbon enriched retained austenite films. It has also been observed that the addition of both 0.5 mass% aluminum and 0.05 mass% niobium to the steel A improves the impact properties, especially when austempered near the martensite start temperature. This is mainly caused by the refined bainitic ferrite lath structure, stable retained austenite and refined prior austenite grain size achieved by the addition of niobium.departmental bulletin pape
A Programming Experiment Aimed at Growing Students' Eagerness to Study
publisherThe importance of computer software is continuously increasing in the global marketplace. However, many people are not satisfied with the computer programming education provided by Institutes of Technology and Colleges. Therefore many teachers are trying to improve programming education, and the teaching staff of the Department of Computer and Information Engineering at Tsuyama National College of Technology is no exception. This article reports the results of a new programming experiment introduced into the curriculum of the 2nd year-class. The experiment challenges students to create easy programs, such as the construction of a small game program. We expected that the students would gain motivation to study programing through their attainments with these programming challenges. The results of questionnaires proved our success, with the presupposition that experimental attainments are related to eagerness to study. Our next attempt is to show this
presupposition is true.departmental bulletin pape
Construction of a New Astronomical Observatory and How to Use the Subaru Telescope
publisherWe are performing various activities for astronomy education, such as open lectures for elementary and junior high school students entitled "Astronomical Observation Meeting - You can be a future Galileo too!" We have constructed a new astronomical observatory, which is equipped with a 35cm diameter ACF (Advanced Coma-Free) telescope. Moreover, for astronomy education and study, we investigated how to use the astronomical data of the Subaru telescope operated by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan.departmental bulletin pape
Hochschild Homology of Truncated Polynomial Algebra
publisherLet K be an arbitrary field of characteristic zero. Where the caseαis an even number, we want to determine the iterated Hochschild homology HH{l}* (K[α]/(α(n+1)),0) and the iterated cyclic homology HC{l}* (K[α]/(α(n+1)),0) of the truncated polynomial algebra K[α]/(α(n+1)) together with the trivial differential. In order to get a clue, first of all we compute HH{l}* (K[α]/(α(n+1)),0) for the iteration degree l=1 in this paper. The minimal Sullivan model of the complex is given by Λ(α,q); dα=0, dq=α(n+1). It is the minimal Sullivan model for the even dimensional sphere S(2k) especially forα=2k, dq=α(2), or the complex projective space CP(n) especially forα=2, dq=α(n+1). Therefore we can obtain the explicit forms of the cohomology H*(map(T,X);K) of the mapping space map(T,X) for X=S(2k) or CP(n), where T is the circle.departmental bulletin pape
Update of a Web Site Using Web User Interface Criterion
publisherWe updated the "FIE WEB SITE" which is for a fundamental information education portal site with consideration of the accessibility and the usability based on preceding studies of our laboratory. The purpose of this study is updating the portal web site to become easy to use it for access users. Then the considered points are discovered for the usability, and generalized them by adding to the checklist already made.departmental bulletin pape
