An adoption and its effectiveness of a line-trace experiment with Not eXactly C language to the Experiments in Electronics and Control II

    Get PDF
publisherA student experimental theme “Programming practice with LEGO mindstorms NXT” in Electronics and Control II has been three years from its adoption. To investigate the educational effectiveness of the experiment, questionnaire is conducted for students. The result showed that sixty percent of students interested in this experiment. In addition, almost seventy percent of students felt an educational effect concerning programming technique.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on a Valve-less Pump driven by Shape Memory Alloy Actuator

    Get PDF
publisherThe investigation described in this paper was undertaken to clarify the feasibility of a valve-less pump driven by shape memory alloy(SMA) actuator. The SMA actuator can move by a buttery without generating the sound. So, a silent valve-less pump for portable equipment can be made by using the SMA actuator. At first, the characteristics of the SMA actuator such as generated force and driving cycle time were tested. And then, the valve-less pump driven by the SMA actuator was fabricated to examine the pump performance. As the result of the examination, the pump flow rate 5~10ml/min was obtained in the condition of driving voltage 3.8V. Therefore, the feasibility of the SMA driven valve-less pump was confirmed. However, it has been clarified that it is difficult to increase driving cycle number in order to improve the performance because the SMA actuator is a heat drive type.departmental bulletin pape

Eye-gaze Control System for Electrical Appliances using Multiple Network Cameras

    Get PDF
publisherWe propose an eye-gaze control system using multiple network cameras to reduce the burden of users. The proposed eye-gaze system is a remote control system that allows the users to control appliances by gazing at the electrical appliances. The proposed system is composed of a block of Face Detector, Camera Controller, Eye-gaze Detector and Remote Controller. And the proposed system was added methods of a face judgment and a new eye-gaze detection. Therefore, it can be freely installed using the method in which multiple network cameras have been proposed. The operation of the proposed system was confirmed by some experiments.departmental bulletin pape

Mathematics and Chemistry Interdisciplinary Joint Research and the Fukui Project IX

    Get PDF
publisherThis is the 9th part of the series of articles that records and further develops essentials of the Mathematics and Chemistry Interdisciplinary Symposium 2013 Tsuyama, whose main themes were symmetry, periodicity, and repetition. The symposium was held on April 5th and 6th in Tsuyama city, Okayama, Japan, in conjunction with the Fukui Project and was devoted to the memory of the late Professor Kenichi Fukui (1981 Nobel Prize) who initiated the project. The present series also provides challenging cross-disciplinary problems which are directly related to the Fukui conjecture and to recent carbon nanotube research. Some of these problems are formulated using mathematical language of unique factorization domains (UFD) and related notions, which are not well known among chemists despite the importance of these notions in elucidating additivity and high-speed asymptotic phenomena in molecules having many repeating identical moieties. Some problems are formulated in terms of Fourier analysis connected to the theory of analytic curves, other problems are formulated in connection with the Science-Art Multi-angle Network (SAM Network) Project, which seeks to bridge Science and Art (visual, audible, and conceptual art) for a creative collaboration, and is an important part of the Fukui Project.departmental bulletin pape

Analysis of Sending/Receiving and Restriction of Tsuyama College's E-mail

    Get PDF
publisherThis paper reports analyzed results of E-mail log in three mail servers of Tsuyama College for 1 year. In our College, about one million, three hundred thousand e-mails were exchanged normally, however about 80 percent of SMTP access from outside hosts were refused. We confirm that most unsolicited commercial E-mail is blocked off but negligible surplus restriction exists. To find surplus restriction early, we are making a detection program and are inspecting the effect of the program.departmental bulletin pape

Access Log Analysis and Security Measure for Network Servers

    Get PDF
publisherA watch and an analysis of log of a network server are important in a security measure of a server operation. We report analytical methods for server log and application of the result of analysis to a security measure. An illegal access information was collected by a honey pot as well as a standard Unix log system. After reporting an analysis result of the data collected at Tsuyama College, we describe the security improvement method based on our consideration.departmental bulletin pape

An examination of comments on the judgement of UK Supreme Court of the case of Susan Smith

    Get PDF
publisherThe purpose of this study is to examine the comments on the judgement of UK Supreme Court of the case of Susan Smith which made a decision concerning “the right to life” of British soldiers at the armed conflict occurred outside of UK. The majority opinion of the Supreme Court approved the possibility that the relatives of the soldiers would succeed in their claims. On this opinion there are some comments which criticize the decision because of its bad influence on the military effectiveness.departmental bulletin pape

Teaching Structure of Digital System Design with the Hardware Designing Tool

    Get PDF
publisherThis paper reports the contents of electronic and information circuits class in department of electrical and electronic engineering. This class has been teaching about digital system design with the hardware designing tool ISE® for the purpose of evoking students interest to the digital circuits in the computer. Teaching structure start at the lecture of the basic digital circuits such as adder, flip-flop and so on has been expressed by the hardware description language VHDL, and practice of design and simulation, in the first term. In the second term, the problem practice has been performed about design of a tiny CPU by students themselves. At last, the encoding and decoding processing unit installed in the FPGA on the video capture board that transmit and receive the video camera image in the real time, is introduced and exhibited for the specific example.departmental bulletin pape
