Boosting the performance of bolt-microtubular solid oxide fuel cells through surface pattern tuning
A number of bolt-microtubular anode supports (BMASs) are manufactured by winding the corresponding thin tapes on threaded rods of different thread pitches and depths, followed by co-lamination using isostatic press. Bolt-microtubular cells (BMCs) are also constructed on BMASs to investigate the effects of the created surface patterns on the cell performance and microstructure. The bolt-microtubular cell, whose anode support is patterned by using a threaded rod with 0.8 mm thread pitch and 0.4 mm thread depth, exhibits similar to 92% higher maximum performance than that of the reference cell at 800 degrees C under 0.3 NL/min hydrogen flow and stagnant air. The almost doubled performance is mainly due to the increase in anode-electrolyte and cathode-electrolyte interfacial areas by the surface patterns created. The cell is also subjected to a 200-h life test at 800 degrees C and 0.7 V and demonstrates a stable performance.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [222M185]; TUBITAKThis study was supported by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) under the Grant Number 222M185. Effects of changing water content of clay-content rocks on field cutter consumption rate of roadheaders: a case study of porous ignimbrites
The changing formation characteristics during excavation can cause a higher cutter consumption rate (CCR) of mechanical excavators than theoretically estimated before the project begins. This study investigates the adhesive potential of clay-content porous ignimbrites in increasing water content and their effects on the CCR of roadheaders. For this purpose, the actual field CCR data of roadheaders were recorded for ten cold storage caverns (CSC) projects during the excavation in dry and wet conditions. Then, laboratory tests were carried out on the rock samples collected from project areas. CCRs of roadheaders were theoretically estimated based on the Cerchar abrasivity index of rocks using three different empirical models. The laboratory test results showed that increasing water content reduces the abrasivity and strength of the rocks. The theoretically estimated results also showed that CCR is to be less under saturated conditions. However, actual field data revealed higher CCRs for all CSC projects in wet conditions. Therefore, the adhesion potential of rocks in different water contents was analyzed, and positive relationships were obtained between the field CCR in wet conditions and the adhesion potentials of excavated rocks with 15%, 20%, and 25% water content. New equations were developed to estimate the CCR of roadheaders, especially in excavating rocks that have an adhesive potential to cutters, such as clay-content rocks. It has been concluded that for an accurate CCR estimation, more than theoretical calculations will be required, and changing formation conditions should also be analyzed in detail.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye (TUBITAK) [120M145]; HOYUK Construction Company; KEMPAR co. ltd.Open access funding provided by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye (TUBITAK). Hâkânî-yi Şirvânî and Bahrü'l-Ebrârı
Anahtar Kelimeler: Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî, Bahrü'l-Ebrâr, kaside, nazire, klasik Türk edebiyatı.Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî's ode Bahrü'l-Ebrâr is a work that has left deep traces in Persian and Turkish literature. Such a work, whose influence spans centuries, is a rare feature even in world literatures. In this study, Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî's ode called Bahrü'l-Ebrâr, which has an important place in the history of Turkish literature as well as its importance in the history of Persian literature, has been chosen as the subject. This ode of Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî, who was also a Turk, also influenced the Turkish poets who came after him, and in this context, Nâsır-ı Hüsrev wrote verses in the same language, verse and rhyme in the Indian field, Ali Şir Nevayî in the Çağatay field, Fuzûlî in the field of Irâk-ı Acem, and Nef'î and Yenişehirli Avnî in the Ottoman field. This historical and cultural significance of Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî's Bahrü'l-Ebrâr led us to think of making a special thesis on this ode. For this purpose, we identified the matla couplets of one hundred and eleven poets who wrote poetry with this verse and rhyme before and after Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî and translated them into Turkish. Then, we made an evaluation on the importance of Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî's Bahrü'l-Ebrâr and made a short commentary of the ode by making the Persian text of the poem, the Latin version of that text and the Turkish translation. We hope that this study will be a useful text for scientists who are interested in the subject. Key Words: Hâkânî-yi Şîrvânî, Bahrü'l-Ebrâr, ode, nazire, classical Turkish literature

Synthesis of graphite/rGO-modified fungal hyphae for chromium (VI) bioremediation process
Bioremediation is a promising technology that can eliminate the drawbacks of conventional treatment methods in removing harmful toxic metals including chromium(VI). Therefore, in this study, fungal hyphae modified with graphite and reduced graphene oxide were synthesized and assessed for their potential to bioremediate heavy metals for the first time in the literature. The effects of the carbon-based materials on microbial structure were characterized using scanning electron microscopy analysis. Thermogravimetric, RAMAN, X-ray diffraction, and enzymatic analyzes were performed to determine the role of functional groups. In addition, batch adsorption experiments utilizing response surface methodology were conducted to optimize operating parameters such as time (1-11 h), chromium (10-50 mg/L), and graphite/reduced graphene oxide (0.1-1 g/L). The maximum adsorption capacity with the graphene fungal hyphae was determined to be 568 mg.g(-1), which is 9.7 times that of the crude fungal hyphae. The Cr(VI) removal for fungal hyphae-graphite and fungal hyphae-reduced graphene oxide biocomposites was 98.25% and 98.49%, respectively. The isothermal and kinetic results perfectly matched the 2nd order pseudo-model and Langmuir model in terms of the nature of the adsorption process. The laboratory scale test results indicate that fungal hyphae modified with graphite and reduced graphene oxide have a high adsorption capacity, suitable for the removal of chromium (VI) from wastewater.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [120Y087]; Nide omer Halisdemir University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit [MMT2020/2 BAGEP]This work was funded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), Project No: 120Y087. Buffer ve Network Analiz Teknikleri Kullanılarak Kentsel Aktif Yeşil Alanlar için Mekânsal Yeterlilik ve Erişilebilirlik Analizi Spatial Adequacy and Accessibility Analysis for Urban Green Spaces Using Buffer and Network Analysis Techniques

The importance of coordination in preventing overdiagnosis: a retrospective analysis of unabsorbed oxidized regenerated cellulose
BackgroundOxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) is commonly used to control small intraoperative bleedings in lung cancer surgery. However, difficulties in its absorption may lead to complications that can mimic malignancy recurrence in the affected areas, and may require further examination.MethodsBetween 2015 and 2022, patients who underwent malignant tumour resection and lymph node dissection and were subsequently evaluated for suspected lymph node recurrence and underwent EBUS-guided needle biopsy were included in the study. Pathology reports of these patients showed an ORC-related foreign body type granulomatous reaction. Such reactions, caused by delayed absorption of ORC, can mimic malignancy recurrence and result in unnecessary biopsies.ResultsIn a total of 13 patients (10 males), pathology was observed in 18 lymph node areas after malignant resection and lymph node dissection, and ORC was detected in subcarinal and inferior paratracheal lymph node areas in all patients. The average age of the patients was calculated as 63.1 years (range 51-74). The mean SUVmax value observed in these lymph node areas on PET/CT was 5.22 (range 0-14.36). Although the SUVmax value decreased as the time between surgery and EBUS increased, no statistically significant difference was observed (p = 0.100).ConclusionThe study suggests that in cases of suspected unexpected lymph node recurrence in postoperative follow-up of lung cancer, it is important for clinicians to communicate with the surgeon and re-evaluate the use of ORC by reviewing the operative notes. This may help in determining an appropriate further investigation strategy
