    Predictors of academic procrastination in university students: Academic motivation, hope and personality characteristics

Çalışmanın örneklem grubunda 2022-2023 Eğitim Öğretim yılında Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi'nde öğrenim görmekte olan öğrenciler yer almaktadır. Veriler toplanırken Akademik Erteleme Ölçeği, Akademik Güdülenme Ölçeği, Sürekli Umut Ölçeği, Sıfatlara Dayalı Kişilik Testi ve Kişisel Bilgi Formundan yararlanılmıştır. İlişkisel modelin kullanıldığı bu çalışmada verilerin çözümlenmesinde SPSS-22 programı kullanılmış ve .05 anlamlılık düzeyi ölçüt alınmıştır. Değişkenlerin arasındaki ilişkiyi anlamak için korelasyon analizi, değişkenlerin akademik ertelemeyi yordama düzeyinin belirlenmesi için hiyerarşik regresyon analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda üniversite öğrencilerinde akademik erteleme davranışlarının cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi ve öğrenime devam edilen fakülte türüne göre anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği ve erkek öğrencilerde görülen akademik erteleme düzeylerinin kadın öğrencilere göre daha yüksek olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmanın bir diğer bulgusu da akademik güdülenme ve kişiliğin dışa dönüklük, sorumluluk ve deneyime açıklık alt boyutunun akademik ertelemeyi anlamlı bir şekilde yordamasıdır. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilere göre umut ve kişiliğin nevrotiklik ve uyumluluk boyutlarının akademik ertelemeyi yordamada anlamlı bir değişken olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.This study addressed the variables of academic motivation, hope and personality characteristics as the predictors of academic procrastination in university students. The study group consisted of students attending the Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University in the 2022-2023 academic year. The Academic Procrastination Scale, the Academic Motivation Scale, the Dispositional Hope Scale, the Adjective-Based Personality Scale and the Personal Information Form were used to collect the study data. Employing the relational research model, the study used SPSS-22 program to analyze the data and .05 significance level was accepted. Correlation analysis was performed to understand the relationship between the variables and hierarchical regression analysis to determine variables' prediction level of academic procrastination. The analyses results concluded that university students' academic procrastination behavior differed significantly according to students' sex, grade level and faculty, and that male students procrastinated more than female students. Another finding of the study was that academic motivation and personality's responsibility, extroversion and openness to experience dimensions significantly predicted academic procrastination. According to the study data, hope and personality's neuroticism and agreeableness dimensions do not have a significant effect on academic procrastination

    Bu araştırmada okul şarkılarının piyano ile eşliklendirilmesinde caz armonisi kullanımının aşama ve yöntemleri gösterilmiştir. Araştırmaya ışık tutması, zemin oluşturması ve bakış açısını derinleştirmesi gerekçeleriyle; okul şarkıları, müzik öğretmeni ve eşlik, caz müziği-armonisi ve popüler eşlik modelleri konuları da ele alınmıştır. Müzik öğretmenlerinin eğitim-öğretim süreçlerinde amaç ve araç işlevleriyle sıklıkla kullandıkları okul şarkılarında eşliklendirilme aşamalarının tespiti için öncelikle Müzik Eğitimi Ana Bilim Dalı’ndaki Piyano eğitimi ile Armoni ve Eşlik derslerinin içerikleri ve konuyla ilgili kaynaklar incelenmiştir. Araştırmada örneklenen okul şarkısının caz armonisi ile eşliklendirilmesindeki yöntem ve aşamaların uygunluğu konusunda ise uzman görüşlerine başvurulmuştur. Yalın melodisi ve armonik fonksiyonları olan okul şarkılarının caz armonisi kullanmasıyla ritmik ve armonik açıdan farklılık ve zenginlik yaratılabileceği düşüncesiyle yapılan araştırmada, nitel araştırma modellerinden durum çalışması yapılmıştır. Elde edilen bilgilerden yola çıkarak kullanılacak yöntem ve teknikler belirlenmiş, eşlik modeli aşamalandırılmış ve örnek şarkı üzerinde uygulama yapılarak gerekli açıklamalar sunulmuştur. Araştırmada yapılan armonizasyon ve eşliklendirmede izlenen yöntem, temel armoni ve müzik bilgisine sahip bireylerin kavrayabileceği şekilde aktarılmaya çalışılmıştır

    The interaction of ER stress and autophagy in trophoblasts: navigating pregnancy outcome

    The endoplasmic reticulum is a complex and dynamic organelle that initiates unfolded protein response and endoplasmic reticulum stress in response to the accumulation of unfolded or misfolded proteins within its lumen. Autophagy is a paramount intracellular degradation system that facilitates the transportation of proteins, cytoplasmic components, and organelles to lysosomes for degradation and recycling. Preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation are two common complications of pregnancy associated with abnormal trophoblast differentiation and placental dysfunctions and have a major impact on fetal development and maternal health. The intricate interplay between endoplasmic reticulum stress, and autophagy and their impact on pregnancy outcomes, through mediating trophoblast differentiation and placental development, has been highlighted in various reports. Autophagy controls trophoblast regulation through a variety of gene expressions and signaling pathways while excessive endoplasmic reticulum stress triggers downstream apoptotic signaling, culminating in trophoblast apoptosis. This comprehensive review delves into the intricacies of placental development and explores the underlying mechanisms of preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation. In addition, this review will elucidate the molecular mechanisms of endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy, both individually and in their interplay, in mediating placental development and trophoblast differentiation, particularly highlighting their roles in preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation development. This research seeks to the interplay between endoplasmic reticulum stress and impaired autophagy in the placental trophoderm, offering novel insights into their contribution to pregnancy complications. Bu dönüşümün önemli bir parçası olan blockchain teknolojisi ve kripto paralar, finansal sistemler üzerinde devrim niteliğinde değişiklikler yaparken, aynı zamanda ekolojik sürdürülebilirlik açısından önemli soru işaretleri yaratmaktadır. Kripto para madenciliği süreçlerinin enerji tüketimi ve karbon emisyonları üzerindeki etkileri, bu teknolojinin çevresel sürdürülebilirlik açısından değerlendirilmesini zorunlu kılmaktadır. Çalışma blockchain işlemlerinin çevre kirliliğine olan etkilerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Blockchain teknolojisinin temel özellikleri ve kripto paraların ortaya çıkışı, enerji tüketimi ve karbon emisyonları gibi çevresel etkileriyle birlikte ele alınmıştır. Özellikle kripto para madenciliğinin enerji yoğunluğu ve bu sürecin iklim değişikliği üzerindeki etkileri vurgulanmıştır. Çalışmada, 2013-2021 yılları arasındaki verileri kullanılarak, 51 ülke için panel veri analizi yapılmış ve blockchain işlemlerinin karbon emisyonları üzerindeki etkisi modellenmiştir. Aynı zamanda blockchain işlemlerinin karesi alınarak uzun dönemde de çevre kirliliği üzerindeki etkisine dikkat çekilmek istenmektedir. Karbon emisyonunu etkilediği düşünülen gayri safi yurt içi hasıla, enerji tüketimi ve sanayileşme de modele açıklayıcı değişken olarak dahil edilmiştir. Çalışma blockchain işlemlerinin çevresel etkileri konusunda farkındalık yaratmayı hedeflemiştir.Today, rapidly developing technology are radically affecting economic systems and environmental dynamics. Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, which are an important part of this transformation, are revolutionizing financial systems while raising important questions about ecological sustainability. The impacts of cryptocurrency mining processes on energy consumption and carbon emissions make it imperative to evaluate this technology in terms of environmental sustainability. The study aims to examine the impact of blockchain transactions on environmental pollution. The main features of blockchain technology and the emergence of cryptocurrencies are discussed along with their environmental impacts such as energy consumption and carbon emissions. In particular, the energy intensity of cryptocurrency mining and the effects of this process on climate change are amphasized. In the study, panel data analysis was conducted for 51 countries using data from 2013-2021 and the impact of blockchain transactions on carbon emissions was modeled. At the same time, by squaring blockchain transactions, it is aimed to draw attention to its impact on environmental pollution in the long term. Gross domestic product, energy consumption and industrialization, which are considered to affect carbon emissions, are also included in the model as explanatory variables.     Root canal morphology of anterior permanent teeth in Jordanian population using two classification systems: a cone-beam computed tomography study

    Background Adequate knowledge of root canal morphology and its variation is essential for success of root canal treatment and to overcome treatemnt failure. The aim of this study was to investigate the root and canal morphology of mandibular anterior teeth using 2 classification systems. Methods 3342 lower anteriors were evaluated from 557 CBCT scans. The images were examined in sagittal, axial and coronal views using a CS 3D imaging software (V3.10.4, Carestream Dental). Demographic data recorded, the number of roots and canal's morphology were described according to Vertucci and Ahmed classifications. Results Frequency of Type I configuration was significantly the highest in incisors and canines (76%, N = 2539), followed by Type III (20.6%, N = 687). Type II (1.1%, N = 37), IV (1.1%, N = 37), and V (0.3%, N = 11) were rarely encountered. 0.9% (N = 31) of the teeth could not be classified with the Vertucci System. The frequency of 2 roots ((2)MA in Ahmed classification) which has no correspondence in the Vertucci classification, was 1.1% (N = 38), it was significantly higher in canines and in females (35 canines and 3 laterals). A moderate correlation in root canal morpology was found between the left and right sides (V > 0.30). 80% (N = 2538) of the teeth did not exhibit any divergence/merging. The bifurcation level occurred mostly in the middle third of the root. Conclusions One fourth of anterior teeth had variation from the simple type I canal configuration and therefore requires attention during treatment. The new classification system offers a more accurate and simplified presentation of canal morphology.     Rapid preconcentration and determination of Co (II) ions in aqueous medium using ultrasound assisted cloud point extraction method

    A flame atomic absorption spectrophotometric technique was studied for the preconcentration and determination of Co2+ ions in trace amounts after ultrasound enhanced enrichment of its 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) complexes by cloud point extraction. The Co2+ ions were firstly complexed with PAN molecules at pH 4 and the complex transferred to a surfactant Tergitol NP-7 (TNP-7) rich phase with a very small volume under ultrasound waves. The surfactant rich phase was separated and dissolved by 1 mL, 1.0 M HNO3 in ethanol prior to determination of Co2+ concentration by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The optimization steps of ultrasound interaction time, solution pH and surfactant volumes were achieved by response surface methodology (RSM) which is a combination of statistical approaches. PAN concentration and possible interfering ions were optimized conventionally. The Co2+ ions were extracted only in 150 s at pH 4 quantitatively under optimum conditions (?95%). The accuracy and validity of developed ultrasound assisted cloud point extraction (UA-CPE) was granted by employing a certified reference material wastewater UME CRM 1204. The technique was applied to wastewater and natural water with satisfactory results

    Modelleme ve Tahmin Amaçlı Veri Ön İşleme Yöntemlerinin Ürün Kurutma Örneği ile Açıklanması

    Although regression is a traditional data processing method, machine and deep learning methods have been widely used in the literature in recent years for both modelling and prediction. However, in order to use these methods efficiently, it is important to perform a preliminary evaluation to understand the data type. Therefore, preevaluation procedures are described in this study. Experimental uncertainty analysis was performed to determine the measurement uncertainties in the measurement devices and sensors used in the drying experimental setup. Significant and insignificant relationships between variables in the data set were determined by Pearson correlation matrix. Autocorrelation and partial autocorrelation functions were used to determine the time series lag in the drying data and an AR(5) series with 5 lags was determined. The data were found to have variable variance due to peaks and troughs in the raw data resulting from the natural behaviour of the drying process. Modelling success was achieved with the normalisation pre -evaluation process performed without distorting the raw data. Thus, it has been shown that better models can be obtained compared to traditional models. In order to avoid unnecessary time and computational costs in the trial and error method used to determine the number of hidden layers and neurons in the machine learning method, various formulas proposed in the literature were compared. It is shown that the correlation coefficient alone is not sufficient to determine the goodness of the model. In modelling the data in this study, the NARX model was found to converge to the desired value faster and with less error than ANFIS and LSTM models. In the simulation of a rotary drum dryer, the optimum number of mesh elements was determined as 1137 by mesh independence analysis. In this way, unnecessary over -calculations were also prevented. Of course, all these methods are already available in statistical science. However, in this study, the methods to be used for modelling and prediction purposes are carefully selected and explained with examples, especially for young researchers who are outside this field to gain speed and easy comprehension

    The effect of core exercises on athletic performance and soccer technical skills of 14-16 years old soccer players

    Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Antrenörlük Eğitimi Ana Bilim Dalı, Harekat Araştırması Bilim DalıÇalışmanın amacı 14-16 yaş arası futbolculara uygulanan core egzersizlerinin atletik performans ve futbol teknik becerilerine etkisini incelemesidir. Çalışmaya Osmaniye ilinde faaliyet gösteren Osmaniyespor Futbol Kulübü alt yapısında oynayan 14-16 yaş grubu futbolculardan oluşan ve rastgele seçilen 20 deney grubu, 20 kontrol grubu toplam 40 futbolcu gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Çalışmada kontrol grubu futbolcular rutin antrenmanlarına devam ederken, deney grubu futbolculara haftada 3 kez olmak üzere 8 hafta boyunca core egzersiz programı uygulanmıştır. Çalışmada dikey sıçramayı ölçmek için sıçrama ölçüm matı, çevikliği ölçmek için illinois çeviklik testi, 10 metre ve 20 metre sürati ölçmek için 0,01 saniye hassasiyetli fotosel, sırt ve bacak kuvvetini ölçmek için dinamometre, futbola özgü teknik becerin ölçümünde ise Mor-Chiristian testi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS 26 paket programı kullanılmıştır. Değişkenlerin demografik özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Verilen normal dağılıma sahip olup olmadığı Shapiro-Wilk Testi ile bakılmış, verilerin normal dağılım gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Grup içi karşılaştırmalarda Paired T Testi, gruplar arası karşılaştırmalarda ise Independent Samples T Testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın anlamlılık düzeyi p<0,05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Kontrol grubu futbolcuların grup içi karşılaştırılmasında anaerobik güç, 20 metre sürat, esneklik, top sürme parametrelerinde anlamlı fark olduğu farkın son test lehine olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Deney grubu futbolcuların grup içi karşılaştırılmasında tüm parametrelerde anlamlı fark olduğu farkın son test lehine olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, 8 hafta sonunda kontrol grubu rutin futbol antrenmanı yapan futbolcularında da değişen parametreler bulunduğu ve bu durumun oluşmasında futbol antrenmanlarının etkisi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Deney grubu futbolcularda parametrelerde olan gelişimin ise rutin futbol antrenmanını ek olarak haftada 3 kez uygulanan core egzersizlerinin genç futbolcuların atletik performansını ve teknik becerilerini önemli ölçüde geliştirdiği düşünülmektedir.The aim of the study is to examine the effects of core exercises applied to football players aged 14-16 on athletic performance and football technical skills. A total of 40 football players, 20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group, randomly selected and consisting of 14-16 age group football players playing in the infrastructure of Osmaniyespor Football Club operating in Osmaniye, participated in the study voluntarily. In the study, while the control group football players continued their routine training, the experimental group football players were applied a core exercise program 3 times a week for 8 weeks. In the study, a jump measurement mat was used to measure vertical jump, an Illinois agility test to measure agility, a photocell with 0.01 second precision to measure 10-meter and 20-meter speed, a dynamometer to measure back and leg strength, and the Mor-Christian test to measure football-specific technical skills. . SPSS 26 package program was used to analyze the data. Demographic characteristics of the variables were determined. The Shapiro-Wilk Test was used to check whether the data had a normal distribution and it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution. Paired T Test was used for intragroup comparisons, and Independent Samples T Test was used for intergroup comparisons. The significance level of the study was accepted as p<0.05. In the intra-group comparison of control group football players, it was determined that there was a significant difference in anaerobic power, 20 meter speed, flexibility and dribbling parameters, and the difference was in favor of the post-test. In the intra-group comparison of the experimental group football players, it was determined that there was a significant difference in all parameters and the difference was in favor of the post-test. As a result, it is thought that there were changing parameters in the control group football players who performed routine football training at the end of 8 weeks and that football training had an effect on this situation. It is thought that the improvement in the parameters of the experimental group football players is due to the fact that core exercises applied 3 times a week in addition to routine football training significantly improved the athletic performance and technical skills of young football players

Bu evliyaların hayat hikayeleri ve çalışmaları bilim insanları tarafından tartışılmakta olan konulardır. Menkıbeler ise veli kişilerin yaşamları döneminde veya öldükten sonra onlara dayandırılarak anlatılan olaylardır. Bunların bir kısmı hayatların sürdüğü devirden daha sonra ortaya çıkmış ve alperen ve dervişleri aracığıyla yayılmış ve kayda geçmiştir. Bunlardan velilerin yaşadığı dönemde başından geçen olaylarla öldükten sonra ortaya çıkan efsaneler birbirine karışır. Hikâyelerin gerçekten evliyalara ait olup olmadığı da araştırılacak hususların başındadır. Sözlü kültürden geldiği anlaşılan konularsa bazı zaman bu tartışmaların arasına alınmamış veya görmezden gelinmiştir. Hoca Ahmet Yesevî de bu durumda ele alınabilecek bir din alimidir. XII. asırda yaşayan ve kendisine ait olup olmadıkları dahi tartışılan, yazıya dökülme dönemi bilinmeyen ''Hikmet''leri üzerinden Hoca Ahmet Yesevî'yi anlamlandırmak güçtür. Diğer taraftan ölümünden daha sonra Cevahirü'l-Ebrar min Emvac-ı Bihar, Nesabname, Risale-i Hüsmeddin-i Sığanakî veya Menakıb-ı Ahmed-i Yesevî, Nesebname, Lemehat min Nefehati'l-Kuds, v.b. eserlerde Hoca Ahmet Yesevî'nin menkıbevî yaşamı ile kerametlerine yer verilir ve bu kaynak sözlü kültür ürünlerini içinde barındırır. Bu çalışmada Hoca Ahmet Yesevî'nin Türk Topluluklarındaki menkıbevî hayatı ve efsaneleri ile ilgili olan veya Hoca Ahmet Yesevî'yi bahsederken menkıbelerin de çokça yer aldığı çeşitli makaleler incelenmiş; söz konusu Ahmet Yesevî'nin menkıbevî hayatı anlatılan eserlerin bibliyografyası hazırlanmıştır. Bununla birlikle Yesevî'nin tasavvuf anlayışı, kendisine atfedilen kerametleri ve zikrleri hakkında kapsamlı çalışılmıştır.Throughout history, there have been many Sufi saints who have been considered to have existed or who were later legendary. The life stories and works of these saints are topics being discussed by scientists. "Menkibeler" are events attributed to saintly figures during their lifetimes or after their death. Some of these appeared later than the period of life and were spread and recorded through Alperen and his dervishes. Events from the time when saints lived and the legends that emerged after their deaths often intertwine. Whether the stories truly belong to the saints or not is a matter of investigation. Topics that seem to come from oral culture are sometimes not included in these discussions or are ignored. Khoja Ahmet Yassawi indeed, is a religious scholar who can be considered in this situation. He lived in the 12th century, and understanding him through his "Hikmet" (wisdom) - whether they truly belong to him or not, and the period of their documentation is unknown - is challenging. On the other hand, after his death, various works such as "Cevahirü'l-Ebrar min Emvac-ı Bihar," "Nesabname," "Risale-i Hüsmeddin-i Sığanaki," or "Menakib-ı Ahmed-i Yesevî," "Nesebname," "Lemehat min Nefehati'l-Kuds," etc., include accounts of Khoja Ahmet Yassawi's miraculous life and feats, thus encapsulating oral cultural products within their content. In this study, various articles discussing the epic life and legends of Khoja Ahmet Yassawi within Turkic communities, as well as articles where legendes about Khoja Ahmet Yassawi are prevalent, have been examined. A bibliography of the works narrating the legendary life of Ahmet Yassawi has been compiled. Additionally, comprehensive research has been conducted on Yassawi's understanding of Sufism, the miracles attributed to him, and his practices of dhikr (remembrance of God

    Selective and invisible separation and determination of Rhodamine B in diverse industrial samples using aqueous biphasic switchable hydrophilicity solvent-like based microextraction method

    An effective and selective aqueous biphasic switchable hydrophilicity solvent-like based microextraction method (ABSHS-ME) combined with UV-vis spectrophotometry was established for the first time to monitor Rhodamine B (RhB) at 550 nm in soaps, lipsticks, anti-freezes and match tips. RhB was extracted firstly as its invisible form into immiscible hydrophobic phase and then converted to its UV-vis active form using acidified ethanol. The essential extraction parameters (pH, SHS volume, and vortex time) were optimized by Box-Behnken Design of Response Surface Methodology. Quadratic model with R2 = 0.9893 was found as favourable chemometric design for ABSHS-ME method. Preconcentration factor was obtained to be 25. Effect of matrix ions and dyes were examined in detail. 7 and 24 mu g/L of Rhb were determined for limit of detection and limit of quantitation, respectively. RhB was determined linearly between 24 and 2500 mu g/L. Relative standard deviations were lower than 7 %. ABSHS-ME method was validated determining the RhB concentrations of industrial samples with analyte addition-recovery tests. RhB contents of the real samples analyzed were found between 0.26-1.07 mu g/g and 1.53-4.73 mu g/mL with recovery values ranging from 95 to 101 %. The environmentally friendly index of the method was evaluated using the new generation AGREE tool
