    Effects of Elevated Temperature on Agronomic, Morphological, Physiological and Biochemical Characteristics of Potato Genotypes: 1. Agronomic and Morphological traits

    Global elevated temperatures create uncertainties in crop yield production and sustainability, threatening potatoes' food security and sustainability roles. This has been among the primary research concerns necessitating the need to evaluate potato genotypes' response to elevated temperature under field conditions. This study assessed potato genotypes' agronomic and morphological responses to elevated temperatures. The experiments were conducted under field conditions in the 2022 and 2023 cropping seasons in a split-plot design. Two heat treatments were applied; a control treatment in which the plants received the field temperature of the experimental station, and a heat treatment in which the plants received a temperature of + 6.0-10.0 degrees C depending on the date and time of day. The agronomic and morphological traits evaluated included tuber yield, mean tuber weight, days to emergence, plant height, number of stems per plant, days to physiological maturity, and tuber size distribution. The results showed significant (P < 0.01) variations in the potato genotypes in response to elevated temperature in all traits except days to emergence. Elevated temperature promoted plant height by 36.94%, and days to physiological maturity by 2.55%, while reducing the number of stems per plant by 11.77% and days to emergence by 2.31%. Furthermore, elevated temperature increased total tuber yield by 25.38%, the number of tubers per plant by 18.75%, mean tuber weight by 8.89%, third-class tuber size distribution by 25.95% and malformed tuber ratio by 1.98%, while decreasing first-class tuber size distribution by 10.11%, second-class size distribution by 1.70% and marketable tuber yield by 4.22%. The results of this study demonstrated the impact of heat stress on potato tuber yield and size distribution. The study showed that temperatures around 27.0 degrees C to 33.0 degrees C effectively promoted total tuber yield, number of tubers per plant and mean tuber weight; thus, an increase in temperature within the effective range of potato plants promoted yield and yield-related components. This study demonstrates that open-sided field chambers can be a screening tool for heat tolerance of potato genotypes under field conditions.     İslam dininde vahyin insan yaşamına etkisi çeşitli evrelerde gerçekleşmiştir. Bu süreçte, dönemin koşulları göz önünde bulundurularak bazı geçici hükümler devreye sokulmuş, amaçlar gerçekleşince bu hükümler değiştirilerek asıl hükümler belirlenmiştir. Nesh olgusu, hayatın akışı içinde doğal bir zorunluluk olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu uygulama, tedricilik ve kolaylaştırma prensipleriyle yaşamın gerçeklerine uygunluğuyla ilgili çeşitli ilim dallarının ilgisini çekmiştir. İslam âlimleri, bu konuyu farklı şekillerde ele almış ancak sünnetin Kur'an'ı nesh etme konusu çeşitli tartışmalarla ön plana çıkmıştır. Sünnetin Kur'an'ı nesh edebileceği üzerine yapılan çalışmalar belli örnekler etrafında gerçekleşmiş, ancak bu örneklerin neshi mümkün kılabilecek güce sahip olmadığı iddia edilmiştir. Bu makalede, sünnetin Kur'an'ı nesh etme konusu usul kitaplarında bulunmayan bir örnek üzerinden incelenmiştir. Bazı ayetlerde Mekke’den Medine’ye hicret bir iman şartı gibi sunulmuş, bilhassa Nisa Suresi 97. ayette hicret şartını yerine getirmeyenler cehennemle tehdit edilmiştir. Ancak bu denli kati bir üslupla ifade edilen hicret emrinin bazı hadislerle nihayete erdiği ve inkıtâya uğradığı bildirilmiştir. Bu manzara hicret olgusu üzerinden Kur’an’ın sünnet ile neshi tartışmalarına imkân vermektedir. Makalede bu konu İslam âlimlerinin görüşlerine de yer verilmek suretiyle, hicret farizasının sürekliliği farklı sosyo-politik ve dini bağlamlar çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır

    Acute Effect of Kinesiology Taping Applied to Adductor Muscle Group on Endurance, Strenght and Agility in Volleyball Players

    Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the acute effect of kinesiology taping (KT) to the hip adductor muscle group (AMG) on endurance, strength and agility in female volleyball players (VP). Materials and Methods: Thirty female VP, with an average age of 17.53±2.55 years, who played licensed volleyball for at least two years were included in our study. KT was applied longitudinally to the athletes between the pubis and lower border of the tuberositas tibia, including the AMG using the facilitation technique (25% stretching). Evaluations were repeated before taping and 20 minutes after taping. The athletes' Adductor muscle endurance was evaluated using the Copenhagen adduction exercise, vertical jump test for lower extremity strength, and Edgren side step test for agility. Results: When the results of the study were evaluated, it was found that there was a statistically significant increase in the endurance (p&lt;0.001), strength (p&lt;0.001) and agility (p&lt;0.001) values of the athletes after KT application. Conclusions: KT applied to the adductor area can be used by physiotherapists during competitions or training due to its positive effects on the performance of VP

    Wideband filtering power dividers with/without notch band

    Low loss and compact wideband filtering power dividers (WB-FPDs) with/without notch band are proposed. The WB-FPDs are designed using wideband bandpass filter based on asymmetric stepped-impedance resonator (SIR). Parallel coupled microstrip lines are used to create both wideband filtering characteristic and two additional transmission poles. A notch band can be generated at upper passband edge by using open-circuited stubs on the SIRs. The WB-FPDs with/without notch band are successfully designed, fabricated, and tested. The wide passband is centered at 4 GHz with the fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 51.1%, while the notch band is at 5.56 GHz with the FBW of 3.1%.     Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Ana Bilim DalıBu araştırmanın amacı kamu ve özel spor örgütlerinde iş motivasyonunun mobbing üzerindeki etkisinin araştırılmasıdır. Çalışmamız nicel araştırma modeline göre tasarlanmış olup, betimsel tarama yönteminden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırmaya kamu spor örgütlerinden 156, özel spor örgütlerinden 146 kişi katılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılan anketin birinci bölümde kişisel bilgilere, ikinci bölümde Tınaz, Gök ve Karatuna, (2013) tarafından geliştirilen İş Yerinde Psikolojik Taciz Ölçeği (İPTO)'ne, üçüncü bölümde Dündar, Özutku ve Taşpınar, (2007) tarafından geliştirilmiş İş Motivasyonu Ölçeğine yer verilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde t testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Değişkenler arası ilişkiyi belirlemek için çok yönlü regresyon analizi tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Bağımsız gruplar t testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi tekniklerinin varsayımlarından olan varyansların homojenliği leneve testi ile incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucuna göre kamu ve özel spor örgütleri çalışanlarının eğitim düzeyinde, çalışma süresinde ve çalışılan kurum değişkenlerine anlamlı farklılıklar belirlenmekle birlikte iş motivasyonu ve mobbing arasında manidar düzeyde ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilen manidar ilişkinin kamu kurumlarında çalışanların işe yönelik davranışlarda ve genel mobbing düzeylerinde mobbinge uğrama düzeyleri daha fazlayken; içsel, dışsal ve genel motivasyon düzeyleri özel kurumda çalışanların kamu kurumunda çalışanlara göre daha yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Our study was designed according to the quantitative research model and descriptive scanning method was used. 156 people from public sports organizations and 146 people from private sports organizations participated in the research. The questionnaire used as a data collection tool included personal information in the first part, Psychological Harassment Scale at Work (IPTO) developed by Tınaz, Gök and Karatuna, (2013) in the second part, Work Motivation Scale developed by Dündar, Özutku and Taşpınar, (2007) in the third part. Its scale is included. T test and one-way analysis of variance were used to analyze the data. Multiple regression analysis technique was used to determine the relationship between variables. The homogeneity of variances, which is one of the assumptions of independent groups t test and one-way analysis of variance techniques, was examined with the Leneve test. According to the results of the research, although there were significant differences in the education level, working time and institution variables of the employees of public and private sports organizations, a significant relationship was determined between work motivation and mobbing. The significant relationship found is that employees in public institutions are more likely to be subjected to mobbing in their work-related behavior and general mobbing levels; It was concluded that the intrinsic, extrinsic and general motivation levels of those working in private institutions are higher than those working in public institutions.     Eğitim Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Fen Bilimleri Ana Bilim Dalı, Matematik Eğitimi Bilim DalıBu araştırmanın amacı, altıncı sınıf sayılar ve işlemler öğrenme alanı tam sayılar alt öğrenme alanında bulunan kazanımların dijital öyküleme ile zenginleştirilmiş öğrenme ortamlarında öğretiminin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına, matematiğe yönelik tutumlarına etkilerini ve öğrencilerin uygulamaya yönelik görüşlerini incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Adana ili Pozantı ilçesinde bulunan bir ortaokulun 45 altıncı sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemi ile nitel araştırma yöntemi birlikte kullanılmış olup araştırmada karma araştırma yöntemlerinden açımlayıcı sıralı desen tercih edilmiştir. Nicel veriler elde edilirken ön test-son test eşitlenmemiş kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel model kullanılmıştır. Bunun için öncelikle deney ve kontrol grupları oluşturulmuştur. Uygulama öncesinde her iki gruba da başarı testi ve tutum ölçeği ön test olarak uygulanmıştır. Daha sonra matematik öğretimi deney grubunda dijital öykülerle gerçekleştirilirken kontrol grubuna ise herhangi bir müdahalede bulunulmayarak mevcut öğretim programında yer alan yöntemlerle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Uygulama bitiminde, her iki gruba başarı testi ve tutum ölçeği son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Nitel veriler ise uygulama bittikten sonra deney grubundaki öğrencilerin sürece yönelik görüşleri alınarak elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen nicel verilerin analizinde veriler normal dağılım gösterdiği için grup karşılaştırmalarında bağımsız örneklem t-testinden, grupların kendi içlerinde karşılaştırılmalarında ise bağımlı örneklem t-testinden; nitel verilerin analizinde ise içerik analizinden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, dijital öykülerle gerçekleştirilen matematik öğretiminin öğrencilerin matematik dersi akademik başarılarında ve matematiğe yönelik tutumlarında deney grubu öğrencileri lehine anlamlı bir farklılık oluşturduğuna, diğer bir deyişle deney grubu öğrencilerini olumlu yönde etkilediğine ulaşılmıştır. Öğrencilerden sürece dair alınan görüşler sonucundaysa öğrencilerin sahip olduğu görüşlerin olumlu olduğu, dijital öykülerin ders esnasında kullanılmasının öğrencilerde ilgi uyandırdığı, öğrencileri motive ettiği, öğrencilerin derse katılımlarını artırdığı, konuyu anlamalarına yardımcı olduğu ve öğrencilerin süreçten büyük bir keyif aldıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of teaching the achievements in the integers sub-learning area, which is in the sixth grade numbers and operations learning domain, in digitally enriched learning environments through digital storytelling on students' academic achievements, attitudes towards mathematics, and students' views on application. The study group of the research consists of 45 sixth grade students from a middle school located in Pozantı district of Adana province. In accordance with the study's objective, a mixed-method research approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative research methods, was adopted, with a preference for the explanatory sequential design. For quantitative data collection, a pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental design was used. Initially, experimental and control groups were established. Both groups were administered a pre-test achievement test and attitude scale before the intervention. Subsequently, while mathematics instruction for the experimental group was carried out using digital stories, the control group received no intervention and was taught using the methods included in the existing curriculum. After the intervention, a post-test achievement test and attitude scale were administered to both groups. Qualitative data were collected through interviews with students in the experimental group about their experiences after the intervention. Independent sample t-tests were used for the analysis of quantitative data due to the normal distribution of data for comparisons between groups, and dependent sample t-tests for within-group comparisons; content analysis was utilized for the analysis of qualitative data. The results of the research indicate that mathematics instruction carried out with digital stories significantly improved the academic achievements in mathematics and attitudes towards mathematics of students in the experimental group, positively affecting them. The feedback from the students about the process was positive, indicating that the use of digital stories during lessons generated interest, motivated the students, increased their participation in class, helped them understand the subject, and that the students greatly enjoyed the process

    Mechanical behavior of alumunium surfaces coated with doped graphene and graphene oxide

    Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Enerji Bilim ve Teknoloji Ana Bilim DalıTez kapsamında alüminyum plakalara GO ve rGO kaplanarak dayanımları iyileştirilmiştir. Tüm deney grupları için ilk olarak Raman spektroskopisi kullanılarak karakterizasyon gerçekleştirilmiştir. Raman spektroskopisi ile yapılan karakterizasyon işleminden sonra, katkılamanın gerçekleştiğine dair yorum yapılan numuneler için XPS analizleri uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen Raman spektroskopisi sonuçlarına göre, GO, N GO, rGO ve N-rGO'nun pik pozisyonlarının literatürle uyumlu olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, alınan XPS ölçümleri sonucunda, GO ve rGO'ya yapılan katkılamaların kalıcı ve homojen bir şekilde gerçekleştiği, N-GO ve N-rGO'ya yapılan N-katkısının sırasıyla %2 ve %2.5 oranında olduğu belirlenmiştir. Katkılı ve katkısız GO ve rGO'nun Al-1050 plakalar üzerine çözelti haline getirilerek kaplanmasıyla dayanım üzerindeki etkileri incelenmiştir. Al-1050 plakasının çekme dayanımı, 67 dakika sonunda 107 MPa olarak ölçülmüştür. Al-1050 plakaları üzerine GO, N-GO, rGO ve N-rGO kaplanmış ve çekme dayanımları sırasıyla 120 MPa, 127 MPa, 122 MPa ve 119 MPa olarak ölçülmüştür. Bu ölçümlerin dayanım süreleri sırasıyla 75 dakika, 80 dakika, 76 dakika ve 74 dakika sürmüştür. Bu sonuçlar ışığında, en yüksek çekme dayanımına (127 MPa) ve dayanım süresine (80 dakika) sahip olan numunenin N-GO olduğu belirlenmiştir. First, characterization was carried out using Raman spectroscopy for all experimental groups. After the characterization by Raman spectroscopy, XPS analyzes were performed for the samples in which it was commented that doping had occurred. According to the obtained Raman spectroscopy results, the peak positions of GO, N GO, rGO and N-rGO were determined to be compatible with the literature. Additionally, as a result of the XPS measurements taken, it was determined that the doping to GO and rGO was permanent and homogeneous, and the N-doping to N-GO and N-rGO was 2% and 2.5%, respectively. The effects of doped and undoped GO and rGO on the strength were examined by coating them in solution on Al-1050 plates. The tensile strength of the Al-1050 plate was measured as 107 MPa after 67 minutes. GO, N-GO, rGO and N-rGO were coated on Al-1050 plates and their tensile strength was measured as 120 MPa, 127 MPa, 122 MPa and 119 MPa, respectively. The endurance times of these measurements were 75 minutes, 80 minutes, 76 minutes and 74 minutes, respectively. In light of these results, it was determined that the sample with the highest tensile strength (127 MPa) and durability time (80 minutes) was N-GO.     Transforming food waste into animal feeds: an in-depth overview of conversion technologies and environmental benefits

    Food waste is a global concern, with significant quantities of edible food being discarded every day. However, innovative conversion technologies have emerged to effectively transform this waste into valuable animal feed. This review paper provides a comprehensive examination of the conversion technologies used to transform food waste into animal feed, along with an analysis of the environmental benefits associated with these processes. The paper delves into various conversion methods such as anaerobic digestion, insect-based conversion, and microbial fermentation along with exploring their mechanisms and suitability for converting food waste into valuable animal feed resources. Additionally, the environmental benefits, including waste reduction, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and resource conservation, are discussed in detail. The review highlights the potential of these technologies to address the pressing issue of food waste while contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient food system.     Bodybuilders and high-level meat consumers' behavior towards rabbit, beef, chicken, turkey, and lamb meat: A comparative review

    In bodybuilders' diets, protein plays a crucial role in supporting muscle growth and repairing damaged muscle tissue. These individuals meet their protein needs by combining dietary sources with supplements. Animal-based proteins are often preferred over plant-based proteins because they are believed to better support muscle protein synthesis. This review explores the meat consumption patterns of bodybuilders and high-level meat consumers, focusing on rabbit, beef, chicken, turkey, and lamb. We describe and compare the types of meat bodybuilders commonly consume and provide an overview of protein supplements, including meat-based options, plant-based alternatives, and whey-based products. Our aim is to gain insight into the dietary preferences of bodybuilders and high-level meat consumers, considering their nutritional requirements and the potential effect on the meat industry. We conducted an extensive search across various databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar. We found that individual choices vary based on factors such as attitudes, trust, taste, texture, nutritional content, ethical considerations, and cultural influences. Nutritional factors, including protein content, amino acid profiles, and fat levels, significantly influence the preferences of bodybuilders and high-level meat consumers. However, it is crucial to maintain a balance by incorporating other essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals to ensure a complete and balanced diet.     2023 Maraş depremleri ve Niğde’deki yer hareketliliği

    6 Şubat 2023 tarihinde gerçekleşen Pazarcık (Mw=7.7) ve Elbistan depremleri (Mw=7.6) başta Malatya’dan Hatay’a kadar Doğu Anadolu Fay Hattı ve yakın çevresini etkilemiştir. Etkilenen illerden bir tanesi de Niğde’dir. Can kaybının yaşanmadığı ve deprem nedeniyle yıkılan bina olmayan il merkezinde, birçok yapı hasar görmüş ve ekonomik kayıplar meydana gelmiştir. Niğde il merkezinin (34.70E,37.90N) Pazarcık depreminin merkez üssüne (37.04E,37.29N) uzaklığı 217.3 km ve Elbistan depreminin merkez üssüne (37.24E,38.09N) uzaklığı ise 223.2 km olmakla birlikte depremler çok şiddetli hissedilmiştir. Bu çalışmada bu iki depremin yer hareketliliği açısından Niğde ilindeki etkisi incelenmiş, Niğde il merkezinde bulunan ivmeölçer tarafından kaydedilen kayıtlar çözümlenmiş ve tasarım ivmeleri ile ölçülen ivme değerleri karşılaştırılmıştır
