Araştırmamızın amacı, Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi'nde Erasmus programlarından yararlanan öğrenciler evreninde bireylerin mikro düzeydeki iletişimlerinin ve toplumca kabul görme düzeylerini George Herbert Mead'in Sembolik Etkileşim Kuramı bağlamında Yapısal Sembolik Etkileşimcilik perspektifinden Sheldon Stryker'ın kimlik sorunsalına bakış teorisinden faydalanarak incelemektir. Uluslararasılaşma sürecinde olan bir kurumda mikro düzeyde tutulan araştırma evreninin makro düzeye evrilebilen etkileri çalışmada ayrıca tartışılacaktır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Kültür, Kimlik Sorunsalı, Dil, Erasmus Programı, Sembolik EtkileşimErasmus Exchange Program is an educational exchange program initiated with the aim of creating a "Common European Identity" within the scope of the European Union Education and Culture Programs. The countries in the European geography published the Bologna Declaration on June 9, 1999 with the aim of creating a harmonious but superior higher education system and a new process called Bologna was initiated. Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, which was included in this process in 2004, has so far managed to open new horizons for approximately 2000 students. Today, students participate in international programs with the desire to gain a European citizenship identity and explore diverse lives and educational systems, achieving cultural and linguistic development in the process. However, in addition to their linguistic and cultural contributions, these programs also have the overlooked effect of helping individuals acquire new identities. Participation in international programs may require students to make some behavioral changes or adopt new identities in order to gain social acceptance in the process of adapting to new social environments. The effects of language and cultural sharing used during social interaction on individuals and the identity problematic experienced in this process have not been sufficiently examined in the context of Erasmus programs or institutional effects have not been addressed. In this context, addressing this phenomenon from the perspective of social sociology will make significant contributions to the existing literature. The aim of our research is to examine the micro-level communication and social acceptance levels of individuals in the universe of students benefiting from Erasmus programs at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University from the perspective of Structural Symbolic Interactionism in the context of George Herbert Mead's Symbolic Interaction Theory by making use of Sheldon Stryker's theory of identity problematic. The effects of the micro-level research population in an institution in the process of internationalization that can evolve to the macro level will also be discussed in the study. The research aimed to experimentally test the thermal conductivity of five distinct Al2O3-Cu/water hybrid nanofluids. These nanofluids were generated at volumetric concentrations of 0.0125, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2. The measurements were conducted within a temperature range of 10-65 degrees C. The primary objective of this research is to tackle the insufficient empirical data on hybrid nanofluids and establish a dependable artificial neural network model for forecasting their thermal conductivity. A multilayer perceptron feed forward back propagation artificial neural network has been created using the acquired experimental thermal conductivity data. The experimental thermal conductivity data have been compared with four commonly used mathematical correlations and the outputs of an artificial neural network. The findings demonstrated that the constructed artificial neural network accurately forecasted the thermal conductivity of the Al2O3-Cu/water hybrid nanofluid, with an average deviation of just 0.4%. Nevertheless, Maxwell's mathematical correlation proved to be the most accurate model in predicting the experimental findings, with an average error margin of just 0.08%.Omer Halisdemir Universitesi [FEB2018/17-BAGEP]Omer Halisdemir Universitesi, FEB2018/17-BAGEP, Mustafa Bayra

    Get PDF
Objectives: This study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Psychosocial Needs Inventory (PNI) among Turkish oncology patients. Methods: A methodological study was conducted with 1,547 oncology patients. This validation study was divided into two phases. Phase 1 included translation of the PNI according to World Health Organization recommendations, investigation of content validity by experts, and a pilot study involving 136 participants. Phase 2 included a validity and reliability analysis of the PNI. Data analysis comprised exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFA), Cronbach's alpha, test-retest reliability, Hotelling's T2 test and item-total score correlation, and the Content Validity Index (CVI). Results: For the phase 1, the CVI for items and scale were >.75 and .883, respectively. Cronbach's alpha values of the subdimensions ranged between 0.84 and 0.94. The test-retest analyses of the subdimensions showed correlation coefficients based on the pilot test (p < .001). For the phase 2, based on the fit indices in confirmatory factor analysis, the structures of the dimensions Importance and Satisfaction were acceptable. Cronbach's alpha values of the subdimensions ranged between 0.84 to 0.94 in the Importance dimension and 0.86 to 0.94 in the Satisfaction dimension. As a result of EFA, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin, Bartlett's test (p < 0.001) and PNI Importance explained at 68.46% and PNI Satisfaction at 70.15% of the total variance by the six-factor structure. CFA showed that the indices and validity, including content validity, convergent validity were satisfactory. Conclusion: The PNI, which was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool, can be used to determine the psychosocial needs of cancer patients. Implications for Nursing Practice: Health professionals need to use the PNI to measure their importance to cancer patients' psychosocial needs and assess their satisfaction with meeting them to improve holistic care and support. OBJECTIVE: Cisplatin, a widely used anticancer agent, induces hepatotoxicity alongside organ damage. Understanding Cisplatin's toxicity mechanism and developing preventive measures are crucial. Our study explores Myricetin, a flavonoid, for its protective effects against Cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity. METHODS: In our study, a total of 32 Wistar albino male rats were utilized, which were categorized into four distinct groups: Control, Myricetin, Cisplatin, and Myricetin+Cisplatin. For the histological assessment of hepatic tissues, hematoxylin-eosin and periodic acid Schiff staining were employed, alongside immunohistochemical measurements of TNF-alpha, alpha, interleukin-17, and interleukin-6 immunoreactivity. Additionally, aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase values were examined by biochemical analysis. RESULTS: In the histological evaluation of the tissues, a normal healthy cell structure and a strong periodic acid Schiff (+) reaction were observed in the hepatocyte cells in the tissues of the Control and Myricetin groups, while intense eosinophilia, minimal vacuolization, congestion, and sinusoidal expansions were observed in the hematoxylin-eosin stainings, and a decrease in the positive reaction in the periodic acid Schiff staining was observed in the Cisplatin group. Consistent with these histological findings, an increase in TNF-alpha, alpha, interleukin-17, and interleukin-6 expressions (p<0.0001) and a concomitant increase in aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase values were observed in the Cisplatin group. In the group protected by Myricetin, a significant improvement was observed in all these histological and biochemical values. CONCLUSION: Cisplatin induces notable histopathological alterations in the liver. In this context, Myricetin exhibits the potential to alleviate Cisplatininduced damage by modulating histological parameters and biochemical processes.Erciyes University's Scientific Research Projects Unit [TYL-2021-11547]Our study was financially supported by Erciyes University's Scientific Research Projects Unit, TYL-2021-11547 project code

Impact of Bisphenol A exposure on maternal gut microbial homeostasis, placental function, and fetal development during pregnancy

    Get PDF
Pregnancy is extremely vulnerable to external environmental influences. Bisphenol A, an endocrine-disrupting chemical, poses a significant environmental hazard to individuals of all ages and stages, particularly during pregnancy. The placenta is a temporary organ facilitating the connection between the mother and fetus. While it can detoxify certain exogenous substances, it is also vulnerable to the impacts of endocrine disruptors. Likewise, the intestinal flora is highly sensitive to exogenous stresses and environmental pollutants. The regulation of gut microbiota plays a crucial role in ensuring the health of both the mother and the fetus. The gut-placental axis connects the gut, gut microbes, placenta, and fetus. Exploring possible effects on placental function and fetal development involves analyzing changes in gut microbiota composition. Given that bisphenol A may cross the intestine and affect intestinal function, gut microorganisms, and their metabolites, as well as its potential impact on the placenta, resulting in impaired placental function and fetal development, this study aims to establish a link between bisphenol A exposure, intestinal microorganisms, placental function, and fetal development. This paper seeks to analyze the effects of maternal exposure to bisphenol A during pregnancy on the balance of the maternal gut microbiota, placental function, and fetal development, considering the key role of the gut-placental axis. Additionally, this paper proposes potential directions for future research emphasizing the importance of mitigating the adverse outcomes of bisphenol A exposure during pregnancy in both human and animal studies.Fund for the Project of the National Key Research and Development Program of China [2023YFD1301705]; Yangzhou UniversityThe research was supported by the fund for the Project of the National Key Research and Development Program of China (2023YFD1301705), the Top Talents Award Plan of Yangzhou University (2020), and the Cyanine Project of Yangzhou University (2020)

Is Asymotomatic Low-Dose Carbonmonoxide Poisoning Harmless at Emergency Department Presentation?

    Get PDF
Aim: Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is a common inhalation poisoning in emergency department (ED) admissions. In this study, we aimed to determine the negligible biochemical and electrocardiogram (ECG) pathological findings of this group of patients with CO poisoning and asymptomatic clinical cases with a CO level below 15% at first admission who are frequently discharged from the ED. Materials and Methods: A total of 68 patients who were exposed to CO poisoning who did not have any clinical complaints or symptoms at the first examination and whose carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) level was between 5% and 15% were included in the study. The group with a COHb level of 5-10% was considered to have a very low level, whereas the group with a COHb level of 10-15% was considered to have a low level. Among the laboratory findings at the time of admission, the COHb level measured at the time of admission to the ED, troponin a cardiac marker, potential of hydrogen and lactate measurements, and white blood cell (WBC) and neutrophil levels were recorded. ECG data were recorded. Results: With regard to COHb levels of low-dose and very low-dose CO poisoning, ECG parameters showed a significant difference, but not in heart rate (p=0.001) between the groups. Regression analysis was performed between ECG heart rate and COHb level, and the linear regression equation was found to be y=2.38x+58.32 (r2=0.68). 2 =0.68). Conclusion: It should be kept in mind that patients may sometimes present with low COHb levels at ED presentation. If patients have available ECGs, they should definitely be compared with their previous ECGs, and blood parameters, especially lactate, troponin, WBC, and neutrophil levels, should be evaluated. It should not be forgotten that tissue and organ damage can occur with low-dose poisoning.Financial Disclosure: The authors declared that this study received no financial support

Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, Sosyoloji Ana Bilim Dalı, Sosyoloji Bilim DalıSosyologlar toplumsal dünyayı farklı paradigmalardan okurlar ve bu farklı okumalar içinde eğitim sosyolojisinin yeri oldukça geniş bir alan kaplamaktadır. Yapısalcılıktan Sembolik Etkileşimciliğe, Durkheim'den Marx'a kadar farklı görüşlere sahip isimlerin kuramları içinde eğitimle ilgili değerlendirmeleri mevcuttur. Sociologists read the social world from different paradigms, and the place of sociology of education in these different readings covers a wide area. People with different views, from Structuralism to Symbolic Interactionism, from Durkheim to Marx, have evaluations about education within their theories. This situation is closely related to the importance of educational sociology in reorganizing and constructing social relations. Within the sociology of education, the phenomenon of education is considered as a means of reproduction and an effective factor in socialization. Although the phenomenon of education is discussed in different aspects in different theories, the point that everyone has a common idea is that education is accepted as a social tool. Pierre Bourdieu emphasizes cultural factors in the production of social relations. Bourdieu analyzes the phenomenon of education from this perspective. In this study, Bourdieu's works in this context were tried to be analyzed and his views on the phenomenon of education were tried to be discussed with a holistic approach. In general, the aim of this study is to contribute to the literature in question. In this research, an attempt was made to make a critical analysis of the phenomenon of education based on Bourdieu's ideas
