Get PDF本稿の目的は，国際協力ボランティア，より具体的には日本の青年海外協力
隊（JOCV）の「コミュニティ開発」という職種のボランティアに焦点を当て，
その支援活動の特徴や可能性をめぐって考察を行うことである。この目的にア
プローチするために，本稿では，「コミュニティ開発」のJOCV による活動と，
国際協力機構（JICA）の専門家，および文化人類学者による支援活動の事例
の比較検討を行う。そして，それを通じて，「コミュニティ開発」のJOCV の，
国際協力活動における「アマチュア」としての位置づけを確認するとともに，
その専門性の低さがもち得る可能性について指摘する。This article presents discussion of characteristic features and merits of
international cooperation activities of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers
(JOCV) engagement in community development. The JOCV case is compared
with supporting activities of Japan International Cooperation Agency
(JICA) experts and Japanese cultural anthropologists. Based on that comparison,
the article points out that although JOCV community development volunteers
are “amateurs” compared to JICA experts because of their lack of
professional knowledge and international cooperation experience, this amateurishness
might be beneficial when conducting support activities, particularly
