    Impact response analysis of through-type steel post for protection fences embedded into rockfall-protection walls

    In order to obtain basic knowledge for establishing a rational impact-resistant design procedure of the steel posts for rockfall-protection fences embedded into the protection walls, 3D elasto-plastic impact response analyses were conducted taking impact velocity of the weight as variables. The applicability of the proposed method was verified by comparing with the experimental results in the case of using the throughtype steel posts and the amount of the numerically simulated absorbed energy of each member was also discussed. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1) impact resistant behavior of the steel posts except for rotation of protection wall can be appropriately simulated, and 2) it was confirmed numerically that more than 80% of the input energy was absorbed by the deformation of the steel post.journal articl

    Design and evaluation of antenna pointing control system onboard fixed-wing UAV to realize video transmission relay station

    Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are used for many services in various fields. We propose a video transmission relay system in which a fixed-wing UAV is used as a relay station. In order to establish the video transmission link, it is necessary to accurately point the antenna onboard a fixed-wingUAV to both the target ground station and theUAVfor photography while making the UAV turn over the designated area. In this study, we propose a new antenna pointing control system, which uses a 2-axis gimbal to greatly reduce the attitude motion of the UAV, and describe evaluation results of the performance of the antenna pointing control system.journal articl

    Constraining temperature at depth of the Kakkonda geothermal field, Japan, using Bayesian rock-physics modelling of resistivity: Implications to the deep hydrothermal system

    application/pdfTemperature-at-depth estimation is important for assessing supercritical geothermal resources. Bayesian rock-physics modelling of electrical resistivity is effective for estimating temperatures at depth. In this study, we improved a previously proposed Bayesian framework and demonstrated its effectiveness by estimating subsurface temperatures in the Kakkonda geothermal field, Japan. The proposed framework allows the estimation of either effective porosities or salinities in addition to temperatures; further, we were able to constrain the possible states of the crustal fluid at depth based on the estimates. The estimated 3D temperature structure was consistent with available deep temperature logs. Furthermore, the estimated results suggest the existence of a magmatic-hydrothermal system at depth in the field.journal articl

    室蘭工業大学Muroran Institute of Technology博士(工学)application/pdfデジタルペンタブレットやタッチディスプレイの普及に伴い,スケッチベースのインタラクティブなCAD(Computer-aided design)ユーザインターフェースが注目を集めている.しかしながら,既存のインターフェースSKIT(Sketch Input Tracer)では,重ね書きストロークの入力による編集操作は,一度に単一の幾何オブジェクトしか対象とすることができないという限界がある.この限界を克服するため本研究ではまず準備として,「自由曲線整形」,「サブ曲線同定」,「IFGS」という要素技術を提案し,SKITの要素技術を拡充する.その上で,2次元CADシステムで使用するための汎用的なスケッチベースのインターフェースを新たに提案する.これにより,重ね書きによって複数の幾何オブジェクトの形状と位相を同時に修正することができるスケッチベースの編集操作が実現される.提案インターフェースは,SKITのファジィ論理に基づく戦略に基づいて開発される.これにより,汎用手書きCADインターフェースで必要となる手書き操作が網羅されることとなる.提案インターフェースを使用することで,ユーザはラフスケッチから始めて,重ね書きを繰り返しながら詳細なデザインを作成するといった作図を創造的に行うことが可能となる.実験により,熟練者が提案インターフェースを制御することができ,初心者がその制御に慣れることが可能であることを示す.With the widespread use of digital pen tablets and touch displays, sketch-based interactive computer-aided design (CAD) user interfaces have attracted considerable attention. In an existing interface called the Sketch Input Tracer (SKIT), however, the editing operation performed via an over-sketching stroke can target only a single geometric object at any given time. To overcome this limitation, in this paper, free-curve shaping, sub-curve identifier, and IFGS are proposed as preparations, which extends elemental techniques in existing SKIT. After that I propose a new general-purpose sketch-based interface developed for use in two-dimensional CAD systems. In the proposed interface, a sketch-based editing operation can simultaneously modify the geometry and topology of multiple geometric objects via over-sketching. The interface was developed based on the fuzzy logic-based strategy of SKIT. With this interface, a user can draw in a creative manner; for example, they can begin with a rough sketch and progressively create a detailed design through repeated over-sketches. The results of experiments conducted demonstrate that experts can control the proposed interactive drawing interface and beginners can habituate to controlling it.doctoral thesi

    都市縮小に伴う空き家と交通システムの効率化に関する研究

    室蘭工業大学Muroran Institute of Technology博士(工学)application/pdf近年、空き家は多くの国にとって大きな課題の1つになっている。 2018年の日本の空き家総数は849万戸に達し、総住宅ストックの13.6%を占める。 OECD諸国と比較して、この数字は最も高く、社会の高齢化と低い出生率により、将来さらに増加すると予想されている。住宅市場を安定させるためには、空き家の比率を一定の水準、通常は5%未満に抑える必要がある。実際の空室率がこのしきい値を超えると、需給関係の不均衡を反映するだけでなく、都市の持続可能な開発に様々な悪影響を与える可能性がある。これらの悪影響としては、近隣の不動産の価値の低下、空室率と犯罪率の増加の刺激、劣悪な衛生状態と景観、税収の減少、および輸送システムの非効率的な運用が含まれる。したがって、空き家の発生のメカニズムを理解し、その影響を制御することが不可欠となる。これらの問題を解決するために、本研究は以下の2点を目的とする。まず、空き家とその決定要因の空間分布状況を調査する。次に、住宅利用との関係における輸送システムの効率性を評価する。これらの目的のケーススタディとして、北海道札幌市を選定した。分析手法として、局所空間的自己相関分析、部分最小二乗回帰(PLSR)、およびデータ包絡分析(DEA)を適用することにより、研究の目的を達成する。分析の結果は、高い住宅空室が中央地区と密集した地域に集中する可能性が高いことを強く示した。空室レベルは、市内中心部までの距離が長くなるにつれて減少する傾向にある。空き家に影響を与える特徴の中で、人口統計学的特性が最も強力な決定要因となった。その中でも、空き家を促進する影響として、単身世帯数属性が他の世帯の属性を上回った。同様に、人口の減少に伴う住居の供給過剰は、空室の増加に集中的な影響を及ぼしていた。対照的に、住宅所有率の増加と建物内の統合駐車場は、空き家の数を減らすことが分かった。また、DEAの分析によると、札幌市、特に駐車場やエリアの交通サービスの余剰は、住宅の充填率の不足によるものであった。研究成果は、研究論文としてだけでなく、持続可能な開発を達成するための政策立案にも貢献すると考えられる。In recent years, vacant houses have become one of the major challenges for many countries. In 2018, the total number of vacant houses in Japan reached 8.49 million units, accounting for 13.6% of the total housing stock. Compared to OECD countries, this figure was the highest and was expected to further increase in the future due to social aging and the low fertility rate. For a stable housing market, it is necessary to keep the ratio of the unoccupied dwellings within a certain level, usually less than 5%. When the real vacancy rate exceeds this threshold, it may not only reflect the imbalance in the supply-demand relationship but also negatively affect the sustainable development of the urban. These negative influences include the neighbouring properties’ value reduction, stimulation of the increased vacancy and crime rates, poor sanitation and landscape, decline in tax revenue, and the inefficient operation of the transportation system. Therefore, it is essential to understand the mechanism of vacant dwellings occurrence and to control its effects. To solve these problems, this study aims at two points. First, it examines the spatial distribution of vacant houses and their determinants. Second, it evaluates the transportation system’s efficiency in the relationship to housing utilization. The city of Sapporo, Hokkaido, was chosen as a case study for these objectives. By conducting the local spatial autocorrelation analysis, partial least squares regression (PLSR), and data envelopment analysis (DEA), the study’s objectives are achieved. The results highlight that the high housing vacancy would likely concentrate in the central district and the dense areas. The vacancy level then decreases with the increase in the distance to the city’s center. Among the affecting features, the demographical characteristics were the strongest determinants. In which, the number of single households outperformed the other in stimulating the vacant houses. Likewise, the oversupply of dwellings along with the decline of the population had an intensive effect on the rise of vacancy. By contrast, the increase in the housing ownership ratio and the integrated parking lots in the buildings would reduce the number of vacant dwellings. Moreover, the DEA analysis shows that the shortfall in the housing filling rate accounted for the surplus in transportation services in the city of Sapporo, especially the car parking sites and areas.     Genetic structure of the protist Physarum albescens (Amoebozoa) revealed by multiple markers and genotyping by sequencing

    application/pdfMyxomycetes are terrestrial protists with many presumably cosmopolitan species dispersing via airborne spores. A truly cosmopolitan species would suffer from outbreeding depression hampering local adaptation, while locally adapted species with limited distribution would be at a higher risk of extinction in changing environments. Here, we investigate intraspecific genetic diversity and phylogeography of Physarum albescens over the entire Northern Hemisphere. We sequenced 324 field collections of fruit bodies for 1-3 genetic markers (SSU, EF1A, COI) and analysed 98 specimens with genotyping by sequencing. The structure of the three-gene phylogeny, SNP-based phylogeny, phylogenetic networks, and the observed recombination pattern of three independently inherited gene markers can be best explained by the presence of at least 18 reproductively isolated groups, which can be seen as cryptic species. In all intensively sampled regions and in many localities, members of several phylogroups coexisted. Some phylogroups were found to be abundant in only one region and completely absent in other well-studied regions, and thus may represent regional endemics. Our results demonstrate that the widely distributed myxomycete species Ph. albescens represents a complex of at least 18 cryptic species, and some of these seem to have a limited geographical distribution. In addition, the presence of groups of presumably clonal specimens suggests that sexual and asexual reproduction coexist in natural populations of myxomycetes.journal articl

    Solvatochromism of fluorescence and the excited state of 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane

    application/pdfThe optical properties of quinodimethanes have attracted considerable interest recently. Here, we report the fluorescence characteristics of 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4TCNQ), which is utilized as a versatile electron acceptor and a p-type dopant. A solvatochromic shift of the fluorescence and a decrease in the fluorescence quantum yield were observed as the solvent polarity increased. The fluorescence emissive state of F4TCNQ was assigned to the intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) state. A heavy atom effect on the fluorescence intensity was observed, indicating the occurrence of intersystem crossing from the ICT state to the triplet state. A hypothetical model of the excited state of F4TCNQ is proposed.journal articl
