Amsterdam’s Post-war Buildings Transformations in Bottom-up Processes. The Role of Municipal Housing Policy, Architects and Collaborative Groups of Future Residents in DIY (Klushuis) Affordable Housing Idea
Due to the shortage of houses and the rise of housing market prices in Amsterdam, there is a high demand for diversification means of getting a place to live. From the municipal policy and bottom-up engagement, the idea of DIY emerged –the process of involving future residents in existing housing transformation process, which would allow for low-costapartment sale in return for self-managed renovation. The aim of the study is to investigate the process of the investments andevaluate the results in terms of the quality of architecture, socio-economic implications and goals of the sustainabledevelopment policy as well as defining the role of all actors taking part in the process. The objective is to research the examples of successful cooperation between bottom-up movements and municipal policy in order to broaden the view on options forefficient use of post-war housing heritage. The research is based on the case study of 3 DIY processes realized between 2016and 2022 in Amsterdam and it shows that a well conducted process leads to high quality apartments as well as promising socialeffects. Nevertheless its affordability can be questioned, therefore it should rather be treated as an alternative for active middle-class citizens, not as social housing solution
Evolution of production-living-ecological space in peri-urban area: A case study in Machong Town, Dongguan City
Machong Town is a typical peri-urban area located on the edge of a large city. Based on the survey of the economic, social, spatial development and the land use data translated from satellite images over the years analyzed by means of land use transfer matrix and landscape pattern index, this paper explores the morphological characteristics and evolution mechanism of production-living-ecological space in Machong Town. The study found that the evolution of production-living-ecological space in Machong Town is an industry-led process. The advantages of port logistics have attracted large-scale port-dependent industries such as grain and oil, and papermaking to garther in Machong Town, which led to the rapid expansion of the production space. In the process of production space expansion, living space has played a supporting role of completing the transformation from traditional rural areas to high-density and rental-type rural areas. Meanwhile, the ecological space is gradually eating away. It is the path that relies on the development of large port and large industries, making Machong Town present a mixed urban-rural spatial pattern unique to peri-urban areas and have characteristics different from other peri-urban areas formed with the development of township enterprises
Application trial of a simple spectrophotometric method in determination of sun protection parameters of selected sunscreen cosmetics
Knowledge of the sun protection factor SPF of a sunscreen product is essential for the safe use of solar radiation. In Poland and in the European Union, in vivo method is used to determine the SPF. This method is time-consuming, expensive, does not ensure repeatability, and raises ethical doubts. Therefore, instrumental methods that can replace the traditional in vivo method are sought. In this study an attempt to determine sun protection parameters, such as SPF, degree of protection against UVA and critical wavelength of selected sun protection cosmetics was made with the use of a simple spectrophotometric method based on measuring the absorbance of ethanol solutions of selected sunscreen cosmetics. The obtained results may be useful for future development of a new in vitro method for determination of sun protection parameters of sunscreen cosmetics

Experimental and numerical evaluation of force transduced by interactive fiber rubber composite structures
Shape memory alloys (SMA) represent a category of smart materials and are widely used as actuators
for many applications ranging from aircraft-automotive as vibration dampers to medical stents mainly
because of their high energy density and their ability to generate high actuating forces. One of the
potential applications of use of SMA is in robotics. SMA integrated composites provide a light-weight
solution for conventional grippers but have their fair share of disadvantages such as minimal movements
due to constrained degrees of freedom, less gripping force towards irregular structures, durability
reduction etc. In this work, SMAs are integrated into glass fiber reinforced fabrics with tailored
properties with the help of flat-knitting technology creating an Interactive Fiber Rubber Composite by
infiltrating the fabrics with liquid silicone. To determine the range of force induced, a simulation model
is developed to capture the transduced force of the composite when SMA is activated and the model is
calibrated with respect to a test set-up specifically tailored to determine the force exhibited. The results
obtained are utilized in a future study in determining the twisting behaviour of the composite, which
would further help in a better grip for small and irregular shaped objects
Entrepreneurial process in textile and clothing industry: an overview of european practices
The textile industry is traditional for Europe, with a centuries-old history, offering high quality and
innovative products. It is leading sector in the EU. Some facts: according to EURATEX 2018 Annual
report, the EU-28 is the world's largest market for textile and clothing products with household
consumption of € 520 billion; its turnover is 178 billion; the industry exports to outside EU amount to
€ 50 billion; in the Textile and clothing industry (TCI) are employed 1.7 million within 171,000
companies, 99% of which are small and medium-sized (SMEs) niche players focusing on quality,
innovation, creativity and outstanding customer service [1].
As the entrepreneurial education in Textile Universities often is not given into the priority in the study
programs, the paper aims to present specific requirements of the entrepreneurial process in the Textile
and clothing industry that have to be uploaded into the existing study programs in textile universities.
Thus, the paper is focused on basics of entrepreneurial process in TCI (paragraph 1) and entrepreneurial mapping and clustering in TCI (paragraph 2 and 3). Some recommendations for entrepreneurial training in Textile universities are given at the paper conclusion
Studies of the possibility of estimating the growth of the cuxse layer from the change in the mass of fibres
In this presentation, the part of the results of the investigation of possibilities of the formation of the
copper selenide layer on the surface of the different fibres is presented. For the modification of the
researched fibres, the two-stage adsorption-diffusion process was used. Thread waste from Lithuanian
companies was investigated in the work. The aim of these studies is to evaluate the possibility of
evaluating the formation of the layer by observing the change in mass after each cycle of modification.
The presence of a layer of CuxSe particles on the surface of the treated fibres was confirmed by SEM
analysis. The mass gain of modified fibres can be taken as an indicator of the coating process; however, in the case of natural fibres (especially cellulosic), the possibility of fine fibres pieces falling off should be considered

The Importance of Leaders in Effectively Managing a Team Working Remotely
Managing a team, building and creating it, and motivating its members to
cooperate and realise individual tasks and projects require many important
elements. This paper presents the results of leaders building effective team
management in the context of remote work. One of the main objectives of this
work was to characterize leaders to present the similarities and differences in
the role of a leader working remotely and onsite, as well as the differences
and similarities in managing a team working remotely and onsite. The author
