A Research on the Teachers Attitude toward Child Abuse (1) : A Preliminary Study from an Old Oriental Perspective

    Get PDF
P(論文)This paper constitutes a selected portion of research dealing with a teachers-and-parents' attitude survey on child abuse, focusing specifically on three central issues: (i) whether or not teachers and parents have an Oriental sense of values, (ii) whether or not they can sympathize with those values, (iii) whether or not they are aware of those values. It has been thought that in old China, child abuse tended to occur between a child and his/her real father, or between a former wife's child and his/her stepmother; and it is generally not thought that abuse occurred between a real mother and her own child. These assumptions in China can be characterized by the family system based on the worship of ancestors. A questionnaire survey shows that although they do indeed honor their ancestors and pay a visit to their graves on a regular basis, teachers and parents consider themselves to be unconnected to any religion. Moreover, the survey also reveals that most teachers and parents favor the Oriental sense of values which can be found in Chinese classics, and yet these values do not appear to regulate their behaviors in any manner.departmental bulletin pape

Meal awareness of the elderly and the actual conditions

P(論文)This study was conducted to explore the meal awareness and the current situation among elderly people in a day-service center. The researcher obtained information by means of questionnaires. The ratio of respondents was 55.2%. This investigation reached the following conclusions: 1. Most of the respondents reported diseases that were life-style related such as hypertension, cerebral infarction, heart disease and diabetes and felt uneasy about their health and care problems. 2. Among those respondents who felt uneasy about their health and who had difficulty preparing meals some have made use of the delivery of the meal service that has enriched their dietary life. 3. The number of elderly people using meal delivery service confirmed that the meal awareness was about 50%. Most of elderly people who live alone, about 70%, have made use of the delivery of the meal service. 4. When the quantity of activity decreases with increasing age, elderly people tend to spend much time indoors. This research found that dairy meals for elderly people in their homes add to their pleasure and quality of their daily life.departmental bulletin pape

The center of pressure sway and the body weight distribution during sit-to-stand task under hemiplegic disability simulations

P(論文)The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of hemiplegic disability simulations. Fifteen healthy students were participated, the mean age was 21.30(SD=0.60). Subjects put on the simulation suits as right hemiplegic disability in order to limit the movement of right knee, right elbow and trunk. Subjects sat in a chair with their feet on the force plate and performed the sit-to-stand (STS) task at a self speed. We measured the body weight distribution and the center of pressure sway (COP) at medial-lateral direction(X-factor) and anterior-posterior direction(Y-factor) during STS, and compared hemiplegic disability setting with normal setting. Y-factor was significantly lower in disability setting than normal setting(disability: 69.40±24.04mm vs. normal: 85.67±27.20mm, p<0.01), and the time of STS in disability setting was significantly longer than normal setting(disability: 2.94±0.95sec vs. normal: 2.13±0.85sec, p<0.01). However, there was no significant difference in X-factor between hemiplegic disability setting and normal setting. In the disability setting, body weight on hemiplegic side was lager than normal side. The results indicated that hemiplegic disability setting simulated the difficulty of STS, but did not simulate asymmetric body weight distribution with more body weight on sound side, such as the characteristic of post stroke patients.departmental bulletin pape

A Study of Youth Sports from the Perspective of Children's Playing

    Get PDF
P(論文)In the past there used to be a close connection between children and playing outside. Today, however, children have less experience playing outside the house. Behind this trend are the decrease of playground and playtime, the reduction of playing groups, the dissolution of multiage groups, and increase of playing inside the house. These environmental factors have presented various problems with children physically, mentally, and socially. Now, toward such situations, youth sports in local reach new heights of prosperity. Especially, local sports clubs have played important roles. However, youth sports nowadays give priority to winning, and unfortunately minimize self-initiative or self-esteem, pleasure in playing sports. The winning-oriented value is closely linked to the orientation that coaches or adults have in instructing children. Sports are supposed to be neither winning-oriented nor strong-oriented. Enjoyment of sports lies not in the results but the process. The various problems are closely related to the adults' perspectives of playing sports and the value toward sports in a society.departmental bulletin pape

An analysis of Solution Strategies in Solving Ratio Problems

    Get PDF
P(論文)The purpose of this study was to examine the solution strategies in solving ratio word problems. Thirty-three sixth graders solved three problems of ratio concepts. Three ratio word problems composed of the first term of proportion (p=a÷b;p: proportion, a: quantity to be compared, b: base quantity), the second term of proportion (b×p=a), the third term of proportion (b=a÷p). After solving the ratio word problems, students were interviewed individually. Seven kinds of solution strategies were found: computational strategy, estimation strategy, metacognition strategy, division strategy, inexplicable strategy, figure strategy, and multiple strategy. Students used metacognition and division strategy that students invented, rather than the computational strategy that were instructed in school. This suggested that children utilized not mathematical rule but informal strategies which students invented. These results were discussed in terms of the viewpoint of new curriculum based on informal knowledge that students have themselves.departmental bulletin pape

The relationship between the health-related lifestyle, behavior and consciousness of the child and that of the parents

P(論文)In an attempt to find out the relationship between the health-related lifestyle, behavior and awareness of the child and that of the parents, a questionnaire survey was conducted to a group of parents whose children attend Nichinan Public Schools, Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture. The questionnaire contents were developed upon a literature survey regarding to the health-related lifestyle, behavior and consciousness of the children. The results indicated statistically significant relationships about the health-related lifestyle, behavior and awareness between (1) the current status (elementary school age level) total score of the children and that of when they were pre-school age, (2) the current status of the elementary school children and that of their parents, (3) the pre-school age level and the parents total score and (4) the current status (secondary school age level) total score of the children and the parents. On the other hand no statistically significant relationships about the health-related lifestyle, behavior and awareness were found between the current status (secondary school age) total score and the parents. The total health-related lifestyle, behavior and awareness score of the child (the parents selected one child to make responses in this study), calculated upon examining the responses made by the parents, the children were divided into three groups, i.e., high, medium and low total score groups. Regarding the high total score group, statistically significant relationships were found between the following combinations: (1) parents attempting to walk intentionally and children happily and vividly running around lifestyle, (2) parents feeling that they have strong kinship with the family members and children having opportunities to play sport with parents, (3) parents feeling that they fall asleep easily and children not eating foods in off-hours, (4) parents liking sport and playing and the children feeling that life is precious, and (5) parents feeling that they have strong kinship with children and children having played with parents during pre-school period.departmental bulletin pape

The necessity of Death Education to human service professionals (I) : The significance of developing Death Education programs

    Get PDF
P(論文)This study reviewed the development of comprehensive Death Education program for human service professional. Death education is one of the critical issues for not only learning an effective terminal care but facilitating the view as a social professional. However, the comprehensive Death Education program for human service professionals has not been developed so far. As a reason, there are fundamental issues such as a shortage of professional lecturer or undeveloped learning system for professional workers. Hence the development of a comprehensive Death Education program needs to be urgently developed.departmental bulletin pape
