Research on Teacher Attitudes toward Child Abuse (4) : A Study of Sings of Child Abuse Perceived by Elementary School Teachers
P(論文)The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of some factors on the teacher's cognition of abusive signs from children. In the study, a questionnaire was administered to 220 teachers (except for managerial posts, school nurses, and part time teachers) in elementary school. The questionnaire was to investigate "the awareness of signs of child abuse", "teacher's experiences of attending the lecture of child abuse" and "teacher's awareness of coping with child abuse". The results included the following : (1) about 40% of the teachers experienced to deal with abused children (2) it was hard for teachers to perceive children's problem behaviors associated with child abuse. (3) the teachers, who have attended the lecture of child abuse, tended to be more aware of children's unnatural behaviors and parent's violent behaviors. (4) two factors, "teacher's experience of attending the lecture of child abuse" and "teacher's awareness of coping with child abuse", did not influence detecting the sings of child abuse related to problem behaviors. These results suggested the importance of lecture in terms of child abuse towards teachers. Hence, it is necessary for teachers to learn a standpoint of crisis intervention in order to detect signs of child abuse.departmental bulletin pape
Study of subjective well-being factors of patients with mild dementia : Comparison of two objects group by the recognition degree
P(論文)The purpose of this study is to compare two groups of subjects with mild dementia that was classified by the MMSE scale. In patients with mild dementia, the study is from the perspective between the PGC morale scale and three items : 1) activities of daily living, 2) problem behaviors, and 3) aspects of life and health. The high score object group indicates high correlation coefficients with the activities of daily living and the PGC morale scale. In evaluating mild dementia using the PGC morale scale, it was clear that two important perspectives exist. One perspective is the subjective feeling of happiness of patients with mild dementia. The second perspective is that the activities of daily living were found to be important as they effected patients with mild dementia.departmental bulletin pape
Vocabulary Development in Children aged 12-23 Month : Correlation of Verb
P(論文)In the present study, the vocabularies of 310 children aged 12-23 months were assessed. This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between age and the number of verbs that children have acquired, the word category that is acquired earliest, and the relationship between the sequence of vocabulary and the rate at which the proportion of acquired words increases with age. Although the proportion of verbs in the vocabularies of all children was found to be low in comparison with the proportion of nouns, high-frequency words tended to be associated with the children' s daily lives, their own actions, and depicting meaning. These results indicate that environmental factors, the frequency of actions, and the proximity of the actions influence vocabulary acquisition. However further research is necessary in order to examine additional methods for classifying verbs, and to determine more appropriate methods of data collection.departmental bulletin pape
Historical Studies on the Origins of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Hyuga (Miyazaki) (Part 3) : Shouan Watanabe, the Father of Medicine in Nobeoka and People around Him
P(論文)Shouan Watanabe (1613-1699) was one of the most famous men in the history of Hyuga (Nobeoka, Miyazaki). He was a physician during the Edo period, often called the father of medicine in Nobeoka. He was born in Nobeoka and studied both medicine and Jugaku in Kyoto. After his return to Nobeoka, he practiced medicine and opened a private school for young people. Watanabe was ordered by Yasuzumi Arima, then leader of the Nobeoka-Han, to be a teacher for his son, Kiyozumi Arima. Watanabe had over one hundred students. He was not only a physician and teacher, but also a politician. His grave is still in Zenseiji temple in Yamashita-machi, Nobeoka, with writings by Jinsai Ito and Tougai Ito on it. This paper deals with Watanabe himself, the people around him, and the events of his life.departmental bulletin pape
On a New Approach to Teaching of Social Welfare at Universities : An Analysis of Sessions Introducing Client Perspectives
P(論文)This paper reports the results of an action research project where care givers and care receivers from the community gave lectures to second year students in our department. Our objective was to measure changes in awareness of important issues among our students as a result of introducing persons involved with real life social work interactions. Participating students responded to a questionnaire eliciting attitude and awareness responses from the first lecture session and again at the end of the course. A comparison of pre-and post-responses indicted a significant change on all questionnaire items, notably on items related to cooperation and sympathy for clients. Interestingly, items related to the students' sense of autonomy and professional development showed the greatest change. However, a measure of students' confidence toward future practical training showed less change than other items due to participation in the sessions. Implications for this method of teaching are discussed.departmental bulletin pape
Mental health care for abused children in the orphanage 2
P(論文)Mental health care for abused children in orphanages has developed in the fields of social welfare and clinical psychology. The purpose of this study is to investigate children's behavioural traits in orphanages and to examine the support and information exchange amongst the staff. The subjects were 74 school children living in orphanages. The Social Maturity Scale and Pupil Rating Scale were utilised to assess children's ability to perform common activities of daily life. Findings show that abused children have a lower level of ability to perform daily activities, less calmness and fewer interpersonal skills than healthy children. Therefore it is clear that both a psychological approach and actual training for daily living are indispensable in terms of the support for abused children. In order to provide this support it is necessary to employ children's profiles and life records more effectively, and to adopt an active psycho-educational approach.departmental bulletin pape
Mode of Interaction of Uremic Toxins with Human Serum Albumin and Characterization of Each Binding Site
P(論文)The interaction of uremic toxins, indoxyl sulfate (IS), indoleacetic acid (IA) 3-carboxy-4-methyl-5-propyl-2-furanpropanoic acid (CMPF), with human serum albumin (HSA) was investigated by ultrafiltration and spectroscopic methods including ultra violet and fluorescence probe method. The primary binding site of IA and IS was designated site II, and the CMPF binding site was site I on the HSA molecule, as indicated by displacement experiments using different site-selective probes. Tyrosine (Tyr) and lysine (Lys) amino acid residues were probably involved in the binding sites of uremic toxins (IS, IA, CMPF) to HSA. Both hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions were found to play a role in the binding of uremic toxins to HSA. Binding of CMPF was sensitive to the N-B transition of HSA. It is suggested that the binding sites consist of a cationic site on the surface of the HSA molecule with a hydrophobic crevice to accommodate the aromatic ring of the uremic toxins. The results obtained in this study will be useful for the exact understanding of the characteristics of protein binding sites of uremic toxins.departmental bulletin pape
