Energy and Cost Evaluation of Different HVAC Systems in an Office Building
Researchers state that people spend about 90 percent of their time indoors, and accordingly, the place of HVAC systems in our lives is increasing day by day. This brings about an increase in energy consumption. Considering the amount of energy consumption for developed and developing countries today, it is seen that the role of HVAC systems is quite high. Therefore, energy consumption costs and investment costs are the main factors to be considered in HVAC system selection. In this study, for a sample office building, six different HVAC systems (water-cooled and air-cooled variable flow cooling systems, air handling unit system, fan coil systems, water source and air source heat pump systems and split air conditioning system) are analyzed in terms of energy consumption, initial investment costs, operating costs and ease of operation. The advantages and disadvantages of the systems were compared with each other, and as a result of the calculations, it was seen that air-cooled systems consume an average of 33% less energy than water-cooled systems and their investment costs are 30% lower
Observation of J/Psi Electromagnetic Dalitz Decays to X(1835), X(2120), and X(2370)
Using a sample of about 1010 J/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy s=3.097 GeV with the BESIII detector, the electromagnetic Dalitz decays J/ψ→e+e-π+π-η′, with η′→γπ+π- and η′→π+π-η, have been studied. The decay J/ψ→e+e-X(1835) is observed with a significance of 15σ, and also an e+e- invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of J/ψ→e+e-X(1835) is presented for the first time. The intermediate states X(2120) and X(2370) are also observed in the π+π-η′ invariant-mass spectrum with significances of 5.3σ and 7.3σ. The corresponding product branching fractions for J/ψ→e+e-X, X→π+π-η′ [X=X(1835), X(2120), and X(2370)] are reported. © 2022 authors. Published by the American Physical Society. An online pilot randomized controlled study
Objective: It is important to investigate the effectiveness of delivering the rehabilitation service using remote communication technologies, for conditions that face-to-face treatment is not possible. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of exercise treatment via home-based telerehabilitation (TR) in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Methods: Twenty participants who were diagnosed as having the early-middle stage of AD were randomized into a TR group and control group. The TR group received real-time motor-cognitive dual-task exercise treatment via video conferencing, and the control group received no intervention for 6 weeks. The primary outcomes were Mini-Mental State Examination, Timed Up&Go Test, and the 5 Times Sit&Stand Test, and the secondary outcomes were One-leg Stance Test (OLST), Katz Activities of Daily Living Scale (Katz-ADL), Functional Independence Measure, Geriatric Depression Scale-Short Form, Beck Anxiety Scale, Zarit Caregiver Burden Inventory (ZCBI) and the Warwick Edinburgh Well-being Scale. Outcomes were measured at baseline and post-treatment. Results: There was a significant difference in the mean change between the groups in favor of the TR group in all primary and secondary outcomes (p .05). There was no significant difference in the comparison of the primary outcome measures between the groups in post-treatment results (p > .05); significant differences in all secondary outcome measures were observed in favor of the TR group (p .05). Conclusion: TR may provide a significant change in cognition and mobility, improve functional independence, and caregiver's well-being, and reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms in people with AD. © 2022 Elsevier B.V
Effect of carnosine on ovarian follicle in rats exposed to electromagnetic field
The electromagnetic field (EMF) has an effect on various organs, including the female reproductive system. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of carnosine on ovarian follicle number and diameter in rats exposed to a 900 Megahertz (Mhz) electromagnetic field. In this study, six different groups were used. 40 female rats divided into groups were evaluated. The ovaries of the rats were removed at the end of the study. Routine histological procedures were performed on ovarian tissues. Follicle number and diameter of all groups were calculated and evaluated under the light microscope. When primary follicle number and diameters were compared statistically among the groups, there was a remarkably meaningful difference between the EMF group and the control, 20 mg carnosine and EMF+20 mg carnosine groups (p<0.05). There were significant irregularities in the structure of the oocyte and the granulosa cells surrounding the oocyte, especially in the EMF-treated groups. However, the structure of the oocyte and the granulosa cells surrounding the oocyte in the EMF+20 mg carnosine group showed a more regular structure compared to the EMF group. In this study, it can be concluded that the number and diameter of ovarian follicles decreased in rats exposed to electromagnetic field and 20 mg of carnosine may prevent damage caused by EMF. © 2022 Sociedad Anatomica Espanola. Metin İçeriği ve Kategoriler Arasındaki Belirsizliğin Önerilen Bir Dalgacık Benzerlik Metriği ile Ele Alınması
The rise of the issues related to the uncertainty of decision-making has become a warm issue in operation research. The study is dealing with the uncertainty of text contents and text categories. The complex and ambiguous structure of texts prevents us to have clear and precise categorization. The purpose of this paper is to find the similarity distance for the different categories that the text may be related to, using hidden semantic relations. Our study proposes a new method to reveal the hypernym relations (generic terms, upper classes of the term) of the words in the text and formalize the similarity distance metrics between the given text and different categories. We proposed an original and novel measurement formula to calculate the similarity of defined categories to a specific text using discrete Wavelet transformation. Utilizing the Wavelet transformation method that has been rarely used in text analysis, the upper class “hypernym” relation and their dominance on each other is found. The strength of the results examined on the sample text (I like giraffes and I am afraid of lions. I saw them when they are standing opposite of each other near a cactus in Hoanib Desert.). In the first version that the frequencies are taken into account, sample text is categorized as “warm-blooded animals” between the 8 categories with highest similarity distance. For the normalized binary-valued version, maximum and minimum similarities are calculated in the range from 0.8639 to 0.1360, respectively
From the Morphology of Skin Lesions to Diagnosis : Inspection is Like Reading a Book
The author and contact oinformation go at the end of the paper. Skin diseases, unlike afflictions of other organ systems, can be readily seen and may present with a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors. Dermatologic lesions are sometimes artistic, but it is not known why they may have various appearances. Such variations may include groups of papules, vesicles, pustules, and comedones, as well as keloids and granulomas, all of which may give the appearance of being round
Thermal analysis and performance testing of heavy load truck composite brake linings
One of the most important variables that determine the braking performance of heavy-duty trucks is the high temperature increases in the brake components. In this study, the effects of high temperatures in brake lining compositions were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Furthermore, dynamometer tests and SEM analysis were performed. Three different compositions, which are called standard, fly ash and sisal fiber mixture, were compared with existing commercial heavy-duty truck brake lining. The thermal behavior of samples analyzed in TGA machine compared to the weight losses with increasing temperatures until 900 °C. Dynamometer tests which simulated the real part production and vehicle tests were realized in brake lining supplier. Finally, with the SEM analysis, both normal and worn surfaces were analyzed and reasons for wear surfaces were investigated. The findings suggest that there is a high potential in fly ash mixture to apply in commercial trucks applications which occurs at very high temperatures and is very suitable for environment and cost reduction points. © 2022 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston
The Moderating Roles of Remote, Hybrid, and Onsite Working on the Relationship between Work Engagement and Organizational Identification during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Flexible working practices have become commonplace due to the emergence of the turbulent environment that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced organizations to change their business models, structures, processes, and policies. In this context, organizations have started to reconfigure work in terms of flexible working practices that enable them to use the full potential of their employees and to provide the conditions for well-being at work and, as a result, competitive sustainability. This study aimed to explore the relationship between dimensions of work engagement, namely, vigor at work, dedication to work, and absorption in work, and organizational identification under the moderating roles of different working practices, namely, remote, hybrid, and onsite working, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this cross-sectional study, 200 randomly chosen employees from the public insurance industry in Turkey formed the research sample. The results indicate that each dimension of work engagement, namely, vigor at work, dedication to work, and absorption in work, is positively associated with organizational identification. In addition, when the moderation effects of different working practices on this relationship were analyzed, it was apparent that the relationship between an employee’s absorption in their work and organizational identification was weaker in those working onsite, stronger in those working in a hybrid context, and strongest in those working remotely. Therefore, we suggest that work redesign towards remote working practices enhanced positive psychological and behavioral changes in employees, i.e., well-being at work, resulting in a strengthened relationship between absorption in work and organizational identification during the COVID-19 pandemic. © 2022 by the authors
Measurements of Absolute Branching Fractions of D-0 -> K-L(0)phi, K-L(0)eta, K-L(0)omega, and K-L(0)eta '
We report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions of D-0 -> K-L(0)phi, D-0 -> K-L(0)eta, D-0 -> K-L(0)omega, and D-0 -> K-L(0)eta', by analyzing 2.93 fb(-1) of e(+) e(-) collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. Taking the world averages of the branching fractions of D-0 -> K-S(0)phi, D-0 -> K-S(0)eta, and D-0 -> K-S(0)eta', the K-S(0) - K-L(0) asymmetries R(D-0 , X) in these decay modes are obtained. The CP asymmetries in these decays are also determined. No significant CP violation is observed
