    No full text
Our paper proposes a methodology for analysing nominal predicates, focusing on the predicate death meaning ‘end of life’. We highlight the complexity of nominal groups and their polysemy, and propose a dependency approach to better understand their inner workings. Data were collected from a corpus and required selective treatment before being syntactically-seman-tically annotated. This analysis allowed us to identify several relevant aspects, such as the cen-trality of nominal arguments. Given the usefulness of this approach for language teaching and lexicography, we propose to continue this research for other types of predicates and to experi-ment with other semantic annotation systems. This article offers a reflection on innovative educational strategies and active pedagogies that incorporate contemporary artistic practices in interdisciplinary contexts. Within the field of Didactics of Visual and Plastic Expression, and in the framework of teacher training for primary and secondary education, we propose projects based on practical experience, adapted to different educational levels. These experiences aim to foster methodologies that engage in dialogue with other areas of action, such as the immediate environment or the museum, thus generating new tools for expression and knowledge for future teachers. Walking and the artistic concept of the dérive form the central axis of these proposals. Their purpose is to promote a conscious, critical, and sensitive perceptual exploration that makes it possible to discover and reinterpret reality. This approach is connected to relational practices, understood as spaces of encounter with objects, people, and territory. Through visual and plastic creation, we foster visual narration as a resource to articulate processes where conceptual and formal aspects are interwoven. The artist’s book becomes a privileged medium to condense experiences, images, and reflections, opening pathways toward an expanded understanding of art, pedagogy, and reality

Beacon-based phased array antenna calibration for passive radar

    No full text
Passive radar has drawn a lot of attention due to its applications across military and civilian sectors. Under this working paradigm, the utilization of antenna arrays is instrumental, as it increases the signal quality and enables precise target positioning. These promising features rely, however, on the precise calibration of the antenna array, as the different hardware components introduce impairments that compromise the beamforming capabilities of the system. We propose a technique that employs a low-power external beacon signal to produce precise information about the target location, avoiding the angular ambiguities present in other solutions in the literature. The experimental results demonstrate the method’s ability to effectively correct the amplitude and phase inconsistencies while compensating for frequency drifts, enabling beamforming capabilities and direction-of-arrival estimation. Among the tested beacon waveforms, the pseudo-random noise-based signals proved the most robust, especially in low-power scenarios. Additionally, the method was validated in a passive radar setup, where it successfully detected a vessel using opportunistic signals. These findings highlight the method’s potential to enhance passive radar performance while maintaining a low probability of detection, a key aspect in military applications, as well as its applicability to civilian purposes, such as infrastructure monitoring, environmental observation, and traffic management.Agencia Estatal de Investigación | Ref. The 10N 2019 general elections debate on RTVE social media

    No full text
Social media have become an essential means of transmitting information and have transformed the concept of political communication, enabling new audiences to easily select any topic. This has allowed both public and private television networks to provide multiscreen coverage of electoral campaigns while encouraging conversation and debate among users. The content of RTVE’s social networks before, during, and after the televised electoral debate on 4 November 2019 (before the general election of 10 November 2019) was analyzed. The presence of conversation and interaction among the audiences was also examined, namely that originating from the general Facebook and Twitter accounts of RTVE’s social media (La 1 de TVE, La 2 de TVE, RTVE, Canal 24 Horas, and TVE Internacional). Additionally, those showing specifically informative content (Telediario de TVE and Los desayunos de TVE) were also scrutinized. After extracting the publications, those that both related to the debate and generated significant user engagement were selected to compare the topics from the televised debate with other topics that were most widely featured on social media. The results revealed that much more content and a higher level of interest in the debate were found on Twitter accounts, while Facebook was the most neglected by the television station. The RTVE and Canal 24h channels topped the list for both social networks, as did the news broadcast on Twitter in terms of specific content related to the debate, compared with the general interest accounts owned by the television station. Furthermore, the irrelevance of the content broadcast on social media becomes apparent through the lack of dialog and interaction between the audience and accounts. Moreover, the marginal flow of “debate on debate” among the users is evidentAgencia Estatal de Investigación | Ref. CSO2017-83159-RFondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regiona

Protective effects of exercise on cardiotoxicity induced by breast cancer treatments: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    No full text
Objective: Currently, one of the main causes of death in women with breast cancer is cardiovascular disease caused by the oncologic therapies. Exercise has demonstrated positive effects on cardiovascular fitness in individuals without cancer. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the cardioprotective effects of exercise in women with breast cancer, during and after the application of their treatments. Methods: Systematic search was done in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus, and PEDro. The articles must have been published in the last ten years; the intervention to be evaluated was to consist of an exercise program; the sample had to comprise women who were undergoing breast cancer treatment or who had completed it at the time of the intervention; and the outcome variables had to include at least one parameter for the assessment of cardiac function and/or structure. Results: Of the 28 articles identified, nine reported non-randomized controlled studies, 16 randomized clinical trials and three quasi-experimental studies. The effects of exercise on left ventricular ejection fraction, global longitudinal strain and the E/A waveforms ratio were not significant. However, its effect on VO2max was significant. Conclusions: Exercise does not seem to be effective in avoiding the cardiotoxic effects of oncological treatment for breast cancer. Although exercise seems to mitigate the symptomatology, reflected in improved functional capacity, more long-term studies are needed

Experimental evidence of the effect of nuclear shells on fission dissipation and time

    No full text
Nuclear fission is still one of the most complex physical processes we can observe in nature due to the interplay of macroscopic and microscopic nuclear properties that decide the result. An example of this coupling is the presence of nuclear dissipation as an important ingredient that contributes to drive the dynamics and has a clear impact on the time of the process. However, different theoretical interpretations, and scarce experimental data make it poorly understood. In this Letter, we present the first experimental determination of the dissipation energy in fission as a function of the fragment split, for three different fissioning systems. The amount of dissipation was obtained through the measurement of the relative production of fragments with even and odd atomic numbers with respect to different initial fission energies. The results reveal a clear effect of particular nuclear shells on the dissipation and fission dynamics. In addition, the relative production of fragments with even and odd atomic numbers appears as a potential contributor to the long-standing problem of the time scale in fission.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación | Ref. Polymers injection molding, process and defects

    No full text
This chapter presents a theoretical background of polymers injection molding that will be provided to the students and clinch with practical activities. Mainly theoretical points to be discussed will be the origin and importance of this process in addition to the reasons why it’s so widely used. The work presents the main components of the machine, their function, and types. In addition, the chapter deals with the process stages and main parameters that must be considered and configured. To this point, students would be able to interact with the machine (under the instructor’s supervision); being able to identify previously mentioned machine components and process stages, inject some plastic pieces, and develop the next contents. Firstly, to identify some of the different marks that mobile parts of the machine left in the plastic pieces. Secondly, to find causes for main defects based on visual inspection. The main defects can occur on plastic parts because of a bad parameter’s configuration

The effect of primary measures for controlling biomass bed temperature on PM emission through analysis of the generated residues

    No full text
Flue gas recirculation and the use of cooled beds are novel strategies for controlling the biomass bed temperature and are currently under investigation for domestic applications. This paper explores their effect on the chemical composition of the deposits and emitted particles during biomass combustion and aims to study whether these techniques influence fouling, slagging and PM release. Tests were performed in an experimental plant, and samples were taken from three different zones of the facility. The results revealed a low ash-melting hazard in grate and wall residues due to the low Si content and the predominant presence of Ca-Mg-Mn-based minerals (accounting for values closer to 50% and 30% respectively in grate and wall samples). Chimney-filter particles were mainly composed of K-Cl-S (>85%), which implied high fouling and corrosion potential. The cooled bed allowed for the retention of these alkali compounds on the refrigerated surfaces, which prevented the formation and emission of fine particles.Agencia Estatal de Investigación | Ref.
