    Attachment Style Modifies the Effect of Spousal Support on Postpartum Depression in Women

    Objective: This study aims to examine the impact of spousal support on postpartum depression in women with different attachment styles and assessing if attachment style influences this effect. Methods: From March to May 2022, 96 couples with late-stage pregnant women were randomly selected from tertiary maternity hospitals in Shandong and Guangdong provinces for a prepartum survey. Psychological assessments were conducted using the Adult Attachment Scale, Dyadic Coping Inventory, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) Depression Scale. To examine the relationship between each variable and postpartum depression, univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were employed. Additionally, interaction analysis was used to analyze the interplay between different attachment styles and how spousal support influences women's postpartum depression. Results: The findings revealed that even after accounting for confounding variables, prepartum spousal support was an independent predictor of postpartum depression (adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 0.82, 95% CI: 0.69-0.96, P = .015). Women with a secure attachment style showed a significantly lower incidence of postpartum depression compared to those with insecure attachment styles (24.2% vs. 46%, P = .037). In the secure attachment group, spousal support had a protective effect against postpartum depression (adjusted OR = 0.57, 95% CI: 0.36-0.91, P = .018), and attachment style emerged as a potential interactive factor influencing the impact of spousal support on postpartum depression (P P for interaction = .029). Conclusion:The The provision of spousal support, especially to individuals with secure attachment styles, plays a preventive role in postpartum depression. This underscores the importance of considering attachment styles in interventions targeting postpartum depression prevention

    Unpacking interplays between competitiveness, cooperativeness, and social comparison orientation: A network psychometric approach and replication

    Emerging evidence highlights the role of social comparison in competition and cooperation, yet the dynamics among competitiveness, cooperativeness, and social comparison orientation (SCO) remain underexplored. In the present study, we sought to unravel these complex interplays employing graphical Gaussian models (GGMs) and characterize the network structures utilizing cross-sectional data derived from 1073 Chinese participants. A pre-registered independent sample (n = 1348) served to examine the replicability and robustness of our initial findings. Moreover, we explored the Bayesian networks (i.e., directed acyclic graphs) to delve into their probabilistic directed dependencies. Our analysis identified an interpersonal co-opetition network where SCO bridges competitiveness and cooperativeness, emphasizing the key influence of the desire to surpass others. We also found a significant gender effect on the levels of these orientations but not on the network patterns. Additionally, the replication sample offered validation for the resultant network structure and its key nodes. In sum, these findings provide a new insight into the symbiotic relationship between competitiveness and cooperativeness within the framework of social comparison, offering significant theoretical and practical implications

    Enhancing human well-being through cognitive and affective pathways linking landscape sensation to cultural ecosystem services

    ContextLandscape sensation is essential for the delivery of cultural ecosystem services (CESs), yet the pathways through which these services are delivered remain inadequately understood. Exploring how people obtain CESs from landscapes facilitates better understanding of the tradeoffs and synergies between ecosystem services and landscape sustainability.ObjectivesThis study aimed to elucidate the sensory pathways that links landscape attributes to CESs, focusing on the roles of cognitive and affective experiences.MethodsWe analyzed social media comments for the measurement scale of cognition. We employed partial least squares structural equation modeling to integrate sensation, cognition, affect, and satisfaction, using questionnaire data (n = 503).ResultsCognitive comprehensions and affective responses play a crucial role in interpreting CESs while sensory experiences do not directly determine people's satisfaction with CESs. The effective pathways are achieved through the sole mediator of cognition or by serial mediators of cognition and affect. Of the two mediators, cognition has a more profound mediating effect than affect.ConclusionsBoth physical and biological components, such as landscape sensory attributes, as well as cognitive and affective responses, influence human-nature interactions. These components should be considered when promoting the sustainability of human-dominated landscapes

    Developing a machine learning-based instrument for subjective well-being assessment on Weibo and its psychological significance: An evaluative and interpretive research

    Demystifying machine learning (ML) approaches through the synergy of psychology and artificial intelligence can achieve a balance between predictive and explanatory power in model development while enhancing rigor in validation and reporting standards. Accordingly, this study aimed to bridge this research gap by developing a subjective well-being (SWB) prediction model on Weibo, serving as a psychological assessment instrument and explaining the model construction based on psychological knowledge. The model establishment involved the collection of SWB scores and posts from 1,427 valid Weibo users. Multiple machine learning algorithms were employed to train the model and fine-tune its parameters. The optimal model was selected by comparing its criterion validity and split-half reliability performance. Furthermore, SHAP values were calculated to rank the importance of features, which were then used for model interpretation. The criterion validity for the three dimensions of SWB ranged from 0.50 to 0.52 (P < 0.001), and the split-half reliability ranged from 0.94 to 0.96 (P < 0.001). The identified relevant features were related to four main aspects: cultural values, emotions, morality, and time and space. This study expands the application scope of SWB-related psychological theories from a data-driven perspective and provides a theoretical reference for further well-being prediction

    A simulation-based network analysis of intervention targets for adolescent depressive and anxiety symptoms

    Although previous research has well explored central and bridge symptoms of mental health problems, little examined whether these symptoms can serve as effective targets for intervention practices. Based on the Ising model, this study constructed a network structure of depressive and anxiety symptoms. The NodeIdentifyR algorithm (NIRA) was used to simulate interventions within this network, examining the effects of alleviating or aggravating specific symptoms on the network's sum scores. In this study, a total of 15,569 participants were recruited from China (50.87 % females, M age = 13.44; SD = 0.97). The Ising model demonstrated that "sad mood" had the highest expected influence, and "irritability" had the highest bridge expected influence. Alleviating interventions suggested that decreasing the symptom value of "nervousness" resulted in the greatest projected reduction in network symptom activation, which may be a potential target symptom for treatment. Aggravating interventions indicated that elevating the symptom value of "sad mood" had the most projected increase in network activation, which may be a potential target for prevention. Additionally, network structure indices (e.g., central or bridge symptoms) need to be interpreted with more caution as intervention targets, since they may not be exactly the same. These findings enriched the comprehension of the depressive and anxiety network in Chinese adolescents, offering valuable insights for designing effective interventions

    已有大量研究发现,解释偏向矫正训练作为有潜力的认知干预手段,通过引导个体在模糊情境中采取积极的解释方式,可以改善焦虑抑郁人群的解释倾向,并减轻其焦虑抑郁情绪。但既往研究中,对于解释偏向的靶认知并没有清楚的界定,同时也没有关于养育问题的干预研究。解释偏向矫正的实验范式,源自于认知行为的干预,能否将认知疗法中理性情绪行为疗法中非理性信念作为靶认知,进行解释偏向矫正有待考察;同时,在此基础上,针对当前社会普遍存在的养育压力和养育倦怠问题提供可行的干预方案具有重要的现实意义。 基于此,本文开展了以下两个研究。 研究一网络上收集了城市与农村的 506 份中小学生母亲的有效问卷,探讨了养育中的非理性信念在养育压力以及养育倦怠变量中发挥的作用。结果发现,养育非理性信念、养育压力与养育倦怠彼此之间两两相关。其中养育非理性信念在养育压力和养育倦怠中发挥中介作用。 研究二编制了靶向非理性信念的解释偏向矫正训练程序,通过微信端的小程序,有效招募中小学生母亲 70 人,进行了为期 21 天的解释偏向范式的养育非理性信念矫正实验。研究采用随机分组前后测设计,被试分为积极解释训练组,保持中性解释偏向的假实验对照组,和不做训练的无实验对照组。结果发现,经过训练,积极训练组的积极解释显著提升,同时母亲的养育压力和养育倦怠显著下降,但另外两个组没有发现此变化。总的来说,该研究证明了非理性信念是解释偏向矫正训练的有效干预靶向,能有效改善养育问题中的养育压力与养育倦怠问题,为进一步扩充解释偏向训练范式和提高解释偏向的干预精度提供了很好的借 鉴。</p

    Music's Dual Role in Emotion Regulation: Network Analysis of Music Use, Emotion Regulation Self-Efficacy, Alexithymia, Anxiety, and Depression

    Music serves as a prevalent emotional regulation tool among young people. However, the correlational and causal relationships between music use, emotion regulation ability, and emotional symptoms remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the associations and causal relationships between healthy and unhealthy music use, emotion regulation ability, and emotional symptoms, including alexithymia, depression, and anxiety. This study included 16,588 college students nationwide in China. All participants were assessed online with the Healthy-Unhealthy Music Scale (HUMS), the Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale (RESE), the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), and the 10-item Kessler Psychological Stress Scale (K10) using a cluster convenience sampling method. We applied a regularized partial correlation network (RPCN) and Bayesian network to analyze the network characteristics of the outcomes. In the RPCN analysis, healthy music use showed the second strongest expected influence (one-step) and correlated positively with emotion regulation self-efficacy while inversely correlating with externally oriented thinking of alexithymia and depression. The Bayesian network indicated that healthy music use was located downstream of the network, positively predicted by managing anger-irritation and expressing positive affect in emotion regulation self-efficacy. In contrast, unhealthy music use in the RPCN displayed the strongest bridge strength and bridge expected influence (one-step). It negatively correlated with expressing positive affect in emotion regulation self-efficacy and positively correlated with alexithymia, anxiety, and depression. The Bayesian network highlighted that unhealthy music use was positively affected by anxiety, depression, and difficulty identifying feelings. In addition, managing despondency-distress influences difficulty identifying feelings through depression, subsequently affecting unhealthy music use and, finally, influencing externally oriented thinking. This study provides a novel framework for understanding the role of emotion regulation self-efficacy and alexithymia in the relationship between music use and emotional symptoms. Emotion regulation and mental health may benefit from music-based interventions and therapies informed by the findings of this study

    Study on Interaction of Aromatic Substances and Correlation between Electroencephalogram Correlates of Odor Perception in Light Flavor Baijiu

    Light-flavor Baijiu (LFB) is widely cherished for its flavor. This study identified the thresholds of 14 aroma compounds in a 52% ethanol-water matrix and conducted a comprehensive analysis of the interactions among key aroma compounds in LFB using the Feller additive model and odor activity values approach. Among them, the interactions of beta-damascenone with ester and alcohol compounds were primarily promotive, while the interaction with acid compounds was predominantly masking. Furthermore, for the first time, the electroencephalogram (EEG) technology was used to characterize the interactions between aroma compounds. The results showed that the brain activity in the alpha frequency band demonstrated heightened olfactory sensitivity. The EEG could not only display the additive effect of odor intensity but also reflect the differences in aroma similarity between different odors. This study demonstrated that the EEG can serve as an effective tool for olfactory assessment

    The Brain ' s Topographical Organization Shapes Dynamic Interaction Patterns That Support Flexible Behavior Based on Rules and Long-Term Knowledge

    Adaptive behavior relies both on speci fi c rules that vary across situations and stable long-term knowledge gained from experience. The frontoparietal control network (FPCN) is implicated in the brain ' s ability to balance these different in fl uences on action. Here, we investigate how the topographical organization of the cortex supports behavioral fl exibility within the FPCN. Functional properties of this network might re fl ect its juxtaposition between the dorsal attention network (DAN) and the default mode network (DMN), two large-scale systems implicated in top -down attention and memory-guided cognition, respectively. Our study tests whether subnetworks of FPCN are topographically proximal to the DAN and the DMN, respectively, and how these topographical differences relate to functional differences: the proximity of each subnetwork is anticipated to play a pivotal role in generating distinct cognitive modes relevant to working memory and long-term memory. We show that FPCN subsystems share multiple anatomical and functional similarities with their neighboring systems (DAN and DMN) and that this topographical architecture supports distinct interaction patterns that give rise to different patterns of functional behavior. The FPCN acts as a uni fi ed system when long-term knowledge supports behavior but becomes segregated into discrete subsystems with different patterns of interaction when long-term memory is less relevant. In this way, our study suggests that the topographical organization of the FPCN and the connections it forms with distant regions of cortex are important in fl uences on how this system supports fl exible behavior
