The Psychological Healing Function of Art and Culture: A Re-appraisal of Disordered Cognition
The Influence of Parent-Child Attachment on Psychological Problems of College Students: The Mediating Role of Resilience and Interpersonal Adaptation
Interactive influence of the perceived visual richness, greenness and scenography on landscape preference of urban woodland
Interpreting landscape preferences based on a single visual attribute easily leads to context-specific bias, limiting practical applications. This study examines the interactive effects of compositional attributes of visual greenness (Greenness) and richness of compositional elements (Richness), along with the organizational attribute of Scenography type, on preferences for urban woodland landscapes. A total of 121 participants rated their preferences for photographs depicting 54 urban woodland scenes, each varying in Richness and Greenness and categorized into six Scenography types. Linear Mixed Models revealed a significant interaction between Richness and Greenness in determining landscape preferences. Additionally, the interaction between Richness and Greenness on landscape preference was moderated by the organizational attribute, resulting in distinct patterns across various Scenography types. Some exhibited reinforcing effects between attributes, while others had a single prominent attribute that undermined the effects of the other. This article presents these interactions based on the developed model and discusses the above patterns regarding compositional and organizational visual attributes and preference from a theoretical perspective, providing practical suggestions for design and management. The results clearly signify the necessity of understanding landscape preference with an interactive perspective, and highlighted some key knowledge gaps that need to be addressed to support deeper and broader explorations
I want to be nice, but I’m about to be late: The impact of social mindfulness and time pressure on prosocial driving
ObjectivesThis study focuses on the interplay of driver's prosociality trait and situational factors on prosical driving. As for driver's prosociality, social mindfulness represents one's skill and willingness to help others, yet its correlation with prosocial driving is still unknown. As for situational factors, time pressure can impact drivers' operation when driving, but whether a time-limited circumstance could interact with driver's social mindfulness and affect prosocial driving remains uncertain.MethodsWith the purpose of exploring the interaction effect of social mindfulness and time pressure on prosocial driving, 273 valid participants (female = 87) were recruited from online survey platform. Using a mixed experimental design, all of the participants were asked about their social mindfulness and reactions under high and low time pressure situations.ResultsTime pressure had a significant main effect on prosocial driving, while social mindfulness didn't have a significant main effect on prosocial driving. The interaction effect of social mindfulness and time pressure on prosocial driving was significant. Social mindfulness was positively correlated with prosocial driving under high time pressure, while no significant correlation was found under low time pressure.ConclusionsThis study confirm an interaction effect that under high time pressure, drivers with higher social mindfulness exhibit more prosocial driving than drivers with lower social mindfulness. Result sheds light on suggestions for approaches to enhance harmonious traffic environments.</p
Sex differences in prevalence and clinical correlates of suicide attempts in first-episode and drug-naïve patients with anxious depression in a Chinese Han population: A large-scale cross-sectional study
Backgrounds: Anxious depression (AD) has been extensively studied. However, fewer studies have examined sex differences in the prevalence of suicide attempts among AD patients. This study aimed to explore sex differences in suicide attempts and risk factors in patients with AD. Methods: 1380 first episode drug-naive patients with AD were recruited. Sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were measured using a self-administered demographic questionnaire. The Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Hamilton Anxiety Inventory (HAMA), and positive subscale of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) were used to assess patients' clinical symptoms. We also measured the patient's blood glucose, lipids, and thyroid axis hormone levels. Results: There were no sex differences in the prevalence of suicide attempts in patients with FEDN anxious depression. In addition, binary logistic regression analysis showed that HAMA score, TSH levels, and TPOAb levels significantly predicted suicide attempts in both male and female patients with AD, while HAMD score significantly predicted suicide attempts in female patients with AD only. Conclusions: The severity of anxiety and higher levels of TSH and TPOAb were associated with an increased risk for suicide attempts in both male and female patients with AD, whereas the severity of depression was only associated with suicide attempts in females.</p
Effectiveness of a brief social network intervention for depressive symptoms among Chinese adolescents under major chronic stress
Background: Friendship networks have been found to protect adolescents from depressive symptoms, yet whether adolescents' depressive symptoms can be alleviated or reduced by altering the characteristics of their friendship networks remains unknown. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a social network intervention among Chinese ado-lescents suffering from major chronic stress by evaluating the change of friendship networks and depressive symptoms. Methods: A brief social network intervention, consisting of 4 face-to-face sessions once a month lasting 90 min each, was designed to facilitate friendship network formation and to optimize peer network structures. The participants were allocated to an intervention group (n = 311) or a control group (n = 1062) and were assessed four times over six months. Latent growth curve modeling was used to examine the intervention effect on network features and depressive symptoms. Results: Latent growth curve analyses revealed that the students in the intervention group created more ties and dissolved fewer ties during the intervention, and the steep decreases of network density and proportions of reciprocity ties were offset. The intervention group also experienced a slower increase of depressive symptoms and decrease of perceived social support during the intervention. Conclusions: Our findings suggested that a brief social network intervention could effectively act on depressive symptoms among adolescents suffering from chronic major stress. This study shows the potential of network-based interventions to prevent adolescents from experiencing a risk of depression in a stressful context
Intact or impaired? The understanding of give-and-take interactions in children with autism spectrum disorder
Background: Understanding and predicting others' behavior in a dynamic and rapidly changing world is a fundamental aspect of social interactions. However, it remains unclear as to whether children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) could understand and predict goal-directed social actions.Aims: To investigate the understanding of give-and-take interactions in children with ASD with the use of eye tracking. Methods and procedures: Experiment 1 and 2 investigated the understanding of giving and taking respectively in 5-to 8-year-old Chinese children with ASD and typically developing children by using the eye-tracking technology.Outcomes and Results: We found that children with ASD could predict actions, but they were less proficient in processing give-and-take interactions. Moreover, children with ASD showed impaired understanding of giving but not taking. Conclusions: These results indicate that the basic mechanisms of action prediction are intact in children with ASD whereas there may be deficits in the top-down social processing of the giving gesture

Psychometric Properties of the Chinese Version of Human-Computer Trust (HCT) Scale in the Chinese Sample of Adults
An appropriate human-computer trust (HCT) is a key element affecting the use of Intelligent Decision Aids (IDA). Through item-level analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis, this study showed that the revised version of the HCT consisting of two sub-factors cognitive-based trust (10 items) and affect-based trust (6 items) was a valid and reliable scale to assess human's trust towards computers in China, using two groups of samples with different occupation backgrounds in China. Moreover, variables trust in automation and interpersonal trust were used to examine HCT's criterion validity, both of which showed moderate to high significant correlations with each dimension of HCT. It was the first psychometric assessment and validity test of the HCT scale in different culture using a large-scale dataset and expected to provide both theoretical and practical values for future researchers.</p
